Lions WR has missed last two games w/ high ankle sprain Calvin Johnson continues to recover from a high right ankle sprain he suffered in Week 3 against Green Bay before he aggravated it two weeks later. Johnson hasn't played since and while he'll travel to England with the Lions this week to face the Atlanta Falcons, whether he plays will be up in the air. HC Jim Caldwell said it'll either be a full Calvin Johnson or no Calvin Johnson when he makes his return. The Lions have an off week following the London trip before the second half of the season begins. (ESPN) FF...

Calvin Johnson is out of the lineup again. According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio on NFL Countdown, Johnson worked out before for game for two hours. With Johnson out of the lineup this week, there is a good chance he could sit out next week in London, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That would give him four weeks to heal after the Week 9 bye, so hopefully he'll hit the ground running in Week 10.

Lions-Falcons injury report: Reggie Bush doubtful for Sunday

Reggie Bush is unlikely to play on Sunday for the Detroit Lions, but there's a chance that Calvin Johnson could return. It appears that the Detroit Lions are once again going to be down several weapons on offense this week. Running back Reggie Bush, for example, is doubtful to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons after not practicing on Thursday and Friday. Tight end Brandon Pettigrew is also doubtful, and tight ends Eric Ebron and Joseph Fauria have already been declared out for Sunday's game. On a positive note, wide receiver Calvin Johnson was able to practice on a limited basis...

Five Falcons-Lions Questions With Pride of Detroit

The questions and answers that matter for the matchup between the Falcons and Lions. We had the opportunity to ask five questions of Sean Yuille, head honcho at SB Nation's Lions blog, Pride of Detroit. They follow. Dave Choate: Matthews Stafford has had a relatively quiet season thus far. How much of that is due to Calvin Johnson, the offensive line and Stafford himself, and how much might be due to play calling? Sean Yuille: I tend to think all of those things are equally contributing to the Lions' struggles on offense. Stafford hasn't played very well this season, but a lot things have...

Detroit Lions' top three TEs, Reggie Bush unlikely to play; Calvin Johnson questionable

With Eric Ebron and Joseph Fauria already rules out, and Brandon Pettigrew and Reggie Bush doubtful for Sunday's contest against the Falcons, the Lions offense will be hurting, whether Calvin Johnson can go or not.

Lions injury report: Calvin Johnson practices again

Calvin Johnson's chances of playing on Sunday seem to be improving with him practicing for a second straight day. Coming into this week, the thinking was that the Detroit Lions would sit wide receiver Calvin Johnson for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Although getting him back would certainly be nice, letting him rest for another week would allow him to sit until Week 10 with the Lions' bye coming up. Essentially, keeping him out this week would give Johnson an extended rest before the second half of the season begins. It's still entirely possible that Johnson will miss Sunday's...

Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson runs, cuts while practicing for second straight day

Johnson was back on the practice field Thursday in Bagshot, the Lions' makeshift training facility here in England. That's the first time the receiver has practiced on back to back days since originally suffering a high ankle sprain in a Week 3 win against Green Bay.

Lions injury report: Calvin Johnson practices on limited basis

He was limited, but Calvin Johnson returned to practice for the Detroit Lions on Wednesday. The Detroit Lions held their first practice overseas on Wednesday, and they got wide receiver Calvin Johnson back on a limited basis. It doesn't sound like he did very much, and it still seems unlikely at this point that he will play on Sunday, but this is definitely a step in the right direction for Johnson. Now for some bad news. Right tackle LaAdrian Waddle missed practice with a concussion, and the Lions were also without defensive end Ziggy Ansah and tight ends Eric Ebron, Joseph Fauria and...

Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson has started to run

Calvin Johnson is running again, but still no guarantees that he’ll be ready to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in London. The Detroit Lions wide receiver was interviewed Tuesday morning on the NFL Network by Steve Wyche and Jordan Babineaux. “I’ll tell you this much, I’m getting better and better on a daily basis,’’ Johnson said in the interview. “So we’re just going to keep on. I’m going on that track; I’m working with the training staff a ton. We’re getting a lot of good work in and going in the right direction.” Johnson has missed the last two...

Detroit Lions' Reggie Bush will play in London; Calvin Johnson running, but status undecided

Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush had plenty of time to rest their ailing ankles during the nearly-seven hour flight to England. And at least one of them will play Sunday.

DETROIT — Calvin Johnson will not play today against the Saints. The Detroit Lions wide receiver had been listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. This is the second straight game Johnson has missed with an ankle sprain. The Lions’ offense will also be without tight end Eric Ebron who tweaked a hamstring in Wednesday’s practice and didn’t practice on Thursday and Friday. He was doubtful for the game. Tight end Jordan Thompson was signed from the practice squad to fill in at tight end where Joe Fauria (ankle) remains out. Brandon Pettigrew said Thompson, who will be...

Lions-Saints inactives: Jimmy Graham in, Calvin Johnson out

The Detroit Lions will be without Calvin Johnson on Sunday, but the New Orleans Saints will have Jimmy Graham. Just a few days ago, it looked like both wide receiver Calvin Johnson and tight end Jimmy Graham were going to miss Sunday's matchup between the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints. Johnson is still recovering from an ankle injury, and Graham's shoulder injury was supposed to keep him out for at least one or two weeks. As it turns out, only one of those players is actually out on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Lions, it's Johnson. He is inactive and will miss his second consecutive...
