Lions WR has missed last two games w/ high ankle sprain Calvin Johnson continues to recover from a high right ankle sprain he suffered in Week 3 against Green Bay before he aggravated it two weeks later. Johnson hasn't played since and while he'll travel to England with the Lions this week to face the Atlanta Falcons, whether he plays will be up in the air. HC Jim Caldwell said it'll either be a full Calvin Johnson or no Calvin Johnson when he makes his return. The Lions have an off week following the London trip before the second half of the season begins. (ESPN) FF...

Calvin Johnson is out of the lineup again. According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio on NFL Countdown, Johnson worked out before for game for two hours. With Johnson out of the lineup this week, there is a good chance he could sit out next week in London, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That would give him four weeks to heal after the Week 9 bye, so hopefully he'll hit the ground running in Week 10.

Lions receiver Calvin Johnson missed Thursday's practice and with his announcement of lingering pain yesterday we don't see him playing Sunday.Fantasy Spin:It's possible that with the team still winning football games (4-2 and leading the division), they won't rush him back and could even wait until after their Week 9 bye.

Lions injury report: Calvin Johnson practices on limited basis

He was limited, but Calvin Johnson returned to practice for the Detroit Lions on Wednesday. The Detroit Lions held their first practice overseas on Wednesday, and they got wide receiver Calvin Johnson back on a limited basis. It doesn't sound like he did very much, and it still seems unlikely at this point that he will play on Sunday, but this is definitely a step in the right direction for Johnson. Now for some bad news. Right tackle LaAdrian Waddle missed practice with a concussion, and the Lions were also without defensive end Ziggy Ansah and tight ends Eric Ebron, Joseph Fauria and...
Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson has started to run

Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson has started to run

Calvin Johnson is running again, but still no guarantees that he’ll be ready to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in London. The Detroit Lions wide receiver was interviewed Tuesday morning on the NFL Network by Steve Wyche and Jordan Babineaux. “I’ll tell you this much, I’m getting better and better on a daily basis,’’ Johnson said in the interview. “So we’re just going to keep on. I’m going on that track; I’m working with the training staff a ton. We’re getting a lot of good work in and going in the right direction.” Johnson has missed the last two...

Detroit Lions' Reggie Bush will play in London; Calvin Johnson running, but status undecided

Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush had plenty of time to rest their ailing ankles during the nearly-seven hour flight to England. And at least one of them will play Sunday.

Detroit Lions — Calvin Johnson, Eric Ebron out; Saints' Jimmy Graham active

DETROIT — Calvin Johnson will not play today against the Saints. The Detroit Lions wide receiver had been listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. This is the second straight game Johnson has missed with an ankle sprain. The Lions’ offense will also be without tight end Eric Ebron who tweaked a hamstring in Wednesday’s practice and didn’t practice on Thursday and Friday. He was doubtful for the game. Tight end Jordan Thompson was signed from the practice squad to fill in at tight end where Joe Fauria (ankle) remains out. Brandon Pettigrew said Thompson, who will be...

Lions-Saints inactives: Jimmy Graham in, Calvin Johnson out

The Detroit Lions will be without Calvin Johnson on Sunday, but the New Orleans Saints will have Jimmy Graham. Just a few days ago, it looked like both wide receiver Calvin Johnson and tight end Jimmy Graham were going to miss Sunday's matchup between the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints. Johnson is still recovering from an ankle injury, and Graham's shoulder injury was supposed to keep him out for at least one or two weeks. As it turns out, only one of those players is actually out on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Lions, it's Johnson. He is inactive and will miss his second consecutive...

Jimmy Graham, Kelvin Benjamin, expected to play; Calvin Johnson not likely to go

Jimmy Graham, Kelvin Benjamin, expected to play; Calvin Johnson not likely to go

The Saints should have Jimmy Graham vs. the Lions, who in turn likely won't have Calvin Johnson. The New Orleans Saints will likely have Jimmy Graham in Week 7 when they face the Detroit Lions. The all-Pro tight end is battling a shoulder that he suffered in Week 5 vs. Tampa Bay, but the team's Bye Week may have been enough for it to heal to the point he can play vs. Detroit. The Saints will likely use Graham in red-zone packages *** On the other side, Lions All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson’s sprained ankle may hold him out again this week. Even though head coach Jim Caldwell has...

Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson questionable, Eric Ebron doubtful for game against Saints

Johnson is a 50-50 bet to play, while the Lions are down to just one healthy tight end entering Sunday's contest with New Orleans.

Calvin Johnson not likely to play in Week 7

TE Eric Ebron also not expected to play Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell indicated today that Johnson likely will miss his second straight game because of the right ankle injury he suffered in a loss to the Buffalo Bills earlier this month. Asked whether he expected Johnson to play Sunday, Caldwell said, "I've been surprised before because he's an unusual guy and, just talking to him at practice, he's feeling good and coming along. Miracles have happened." (Detroit Free Press) FF Today's Take: In addition to Johnson, tight end Eric Ebron (hamstring) is expected to sit as...

Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson might need a miracle to play against Saints; Eric Ebron not looking good either

The Detroit Lions haven't done much without Calvin Johnson at full strength the past three weeks. And it might take divine intervention for him to return Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
