Panthers vs Vikings: 2nd half open game thread

Panthers vs Vikings: 2nd half open game thread

The Panthers lead the Vikings 14-13 at the half. The Panthers lead the Vikings 14-13 at the half. The Panthers are running the ball quite well so far today, especially Jonathan Stewart. Hopefully that trend will continue in the 2nd half. The defense needs to do a better job of getting to Case Keenum. He’s looking like Randall Cunningham out there today. Carolina gets the ball to start the 2nd half, so a touchdown drive would be nice. What are your thoughts on the game so far? Let’s keep the conversation going. You know the drill. This is now an open thread!

Panthers vs Vikings: Defensive Preview

Panthers vs Vikings: Defensive Preview

The Panthers welcome the surprisingly high powered Vikings offense to Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers open up their final home stand of the season with a visit from the Minnesota Vikings. Coming into the season, expectations for the Vikings pegged them as a strong team riding the coattails of one of the league’s stingiest defenses. Those defensive projections came true. However, the offense has ascended to one of the best units in the league. It’s been so good, in fact, that Case Keenum has undeservedly been thrust into the MVP conversation. This is the same Case Keenum that...

Our reactions and sorrows after Falcons - Vikings

Our reactions and sorrows after Falcons - Vikings

It’s not a game that bears endless lamenting, but nor was it a fun one to watch. Cory Woodroof No one can blame the defense for what happened Sunday -- they held a really dangerous Minnesota offense to 14 points. Only Dallas has scored less than 14 points on this unit this season, and no team has held Minnesota to 14 or less since Case Keenum permanently took the reins from Sam Bradford in October. And this was without Desmond Trufant and Brian Poole. No, the problems rested squarely on the offense, where they reverted to their anemic ways on the opposing side of the field. Though, they...

Falcons - Vikings second half open thread

Falcons - Vikings second half open thread

Atlanta has stayed in it, and will have a chance to do more in the second half. The Falcons have largely choked the life out of the Vikings on defense thus far, allowing too many big plays from running backs but holding Case Keenum and company otherwise in check. The offense hasn’t done much, however, with some productive drives, and has come away with only 6 points thus far. It’s 7-6, Vikings, as the second half kicks off. Let’s talk about it here.

Scouting the Minnesota Vikings with Daily Norseman

Scouting the Minnesota Vikings with Daily Norseman

Longtime Daily Norseman editor Chris Gates was kind enough to help us understand how Minnesota is so good this year. Dave Choate: Where do you fall in the great Case Keenum/Teddy Bridgewater Debate of 2017? Should the Vikings pivot away from Keenum if he cools off, or stick with him the rest of the way? Also, is the long-term solution at quarterback on this roster? Chris Gates: On a personal level, I'm a huge Teddy Bridgewater fan. I've been a big fan of his since the Vikings drafted him, and I really thought that 2016 was going to be a huge year for him until, you know, his leg almost...

Brian Poole now questionable for Sunday, potentially leaving the Falcons thin at cornerback

Brian Poole now questionable for Sunday, potentially leaving the Falcons thin at cornerback

This is not the news we wanted on Saturday. The Atlanta Falcons really did not need any more injuries to their secondary ahead of Sunday’s huge game against the Minnesota Vikings. In a perfect storm, Case Keenum (?) has been on fire with the help of Adam Thielen (???), and starting corner Desmond Trufant is expected out with a concussion caused by Keanu Neal (????). Brian Poole was expected to return, but was just downgraded to questionable just over 24 hours from kickoff. CB Brian Poole has been downgraded to questionable (back) for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.—...

Mike Zimmer Confirms Case Keenum Will Remain Starter, But QB Situation Still “Week To Week”

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer mentioned Friday that Case Keenum “will be the starter next week” for their game against the Falcons, per Andrew Krammer. However, Zimmer added that the situation at quarterback is still “week to week.” Zimmer has previously indicated that they’re willing to turn to Teddy Bridgewater should Keenum struggle to perform, but there’s … The post Mike Zimmer Confirms Case Keenum Will Remain Starter, But QB Situation Still “Week To Week” appeared first on NFLTradeRumors.co.

Case Keenum powers Vikings to win over Lions

DETROIT - Case Keenum stood in the pocket to take a hit, dipped his right shoulder to slip out of a sack and shuffled his feet in the pocket to give his receivers more time to get open. Looking like a savvy winner, instead of a journeyman, he picked apart Detroit's defense with his arm and made plays with his legs to help the Minnesota Vikings beat the Lions 30-23 on Thursday. Keenum threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score in the first half to give the Vikings a double-digit lead and they went on to win a seventh straight game. They took a huge step toward winning the NFC North by taking...

Case Keenum, Vikings hold off Lions to lock up NFC North

DETROIT (AP) — Case Keenum threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score all in the first half to give the Minnesota Vikings a double-digit lead and they went on to beat the Detroit Lions 30-23 Thursday. The Vikings (9-2) took a huge step toward winning the NFC North, taking a three-game lead over the second-place Lions. Detroit (6-5) made mistakes in every phase of the game and Minnesota took advantage. Keenum was 21 of 30 for 282 yards with both TD passes to Kyle Rudolph that gave the Vikings a 20-3 lead late in the second quarter. The Lions rallied to pull within four points early in the...

Thanksgiving Day Football Live: Vikings v. Lions

Thanksgiving Day Football Live: Vikings v. Lions

The Lions hosting a Thanksgiving Day game is an NFL tradition. This time around, they’re hosting the surprisingly good Vikings. Let’s chat & watch while the birds cook. Good morning, fine folks. As we continue to cook the birds, or piggies, and enough side dishes and desserts to last us through New Year’s, we’re taking a break to watch some NFL football. The 8-2 Vikings have chosen to start Case Keenum over Teddy Bridgewater, with Mike Zimmer admitting that benching Keenum for Teddy B. would be hard right now, given Keenum’s surprisingly good play. Bridgewater is saying all the...

Case Keenum helps keep Vikings rolling with win vs. Rams

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have been eager to see Teddy Bridgewater take back the job he lost to the devastating injury to his left knee. With the way Case Keenum has been playing, well, this might be a long wait. "It's going to be hard to yank him out of there right now. He's playing good," coach Mike Zimmer said after Keenum and the Vikings defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-7 on Sunday afternoon in a matchup of NFC division leaders. "I still have really high hopes for Teddy, and a lot of things happen throughout the course of the season, so we'll just see how it goes.
