Frank Gore remains a boss

Niners Nation — It's the dead days of May right now, so little things like this tide me over: The 5 RBs drafted before Frank Gore: Brown, Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams, J.J. Arrington and Eric Shelton. #49ers — Eric Branch (@Eric_Branch) May 17, 2013 Ronnie Brown went No. 2, Benson went No. 4, Cadillac went No. 5, J.J. Arrington went No. 4 and Eric Shelton went No. 54. Frank Gore was coming off serious knee problems at Miami, so it was no surprise he dropped in the draft. Obviously it worked out great, as Frank Gore has been an absolute force at the NFL level. Even after two college knee surger...

Cedric Benson - Packers don't re-sign Cedric Benson

The Huddle — The Green Bay Packers are not re-signing RB Cedric Benson Wednesday, April 24. The team wanted to get an update on a foot issue he is dealing with. Huddle Up: Don't rule out the Packers revisiting Benson at some point in the offseason, but they're more likely use the draft to find a running back or stick with DuJuan Harris as their primary ball-carrier.

Free Agency 2013: Cedric Benson To Meet with Packers

Acme Packing Company — Currently, the Green Bay Packers have a slate of unknowns at the running back position. Players like DuJuan Harris, James Starks, and Alex Green have all shown some flashes of ability but the uncertainty about any one of them taking a "feature back" type of role is totally off the charts. This is why the running back position has been a popular projection from the Packers, despite many analysts feeling like there are no backs worthy of a first-round pick in this year's draft. Now, with the draft just two days away, the Packers are reportedly bringing back one of their former backs in f...

Players With Minor Character Flags Seeing Minimal Changes In Stock

Cincy Jungle — For years the Cincinnati Bengals were one of the few teams known to take character risks, even with a derogatory nickname applied to team president Mike Brown as the redeemer. Cedric Benson was arrested multiple times before joining the Bengals and while with the team for alcohol related offenses. Adam Jones' wiki page mostly details the Las Vegas incident with several unrelated legal issues since. Both were significant contributors with the team, helping Cincinnati qualify for the postseason in three of the past four years. Even Frostee Rucker, now with the Arizona Cardinals, entered ...

Cedric Benson - FA RB Benson close to full health

The Huddle — Free-agent RB Cedric Benson (foot) is getting closer to 100 percent, and he is on teams' radars. Huddle Up: After 3 consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons in Cincy, Benson gained only 248 yards in 5 games with the Pack before bowing out with his foot injury. That and the fact he will turn 31 in December will limit the RB's options.

A video showed Benson performing running drills in the University of Texas training facility. ESPN believes he's on some teams' radars but the Packers might not be one of them. Packers general manager Ted Thompson referred to Benson as "an unrestricted free agent" who "has the injury thing he has to get past."

Packers HC Mike McCarthy praises RB DuJuan Harris

FFToolbox.com — Last season began with Cedric Benson looking like a solid fantasy football sleeper as the starting running back of the Packers. This season, the Packers and fantasy owners could be in a similar position with another running back. Except this player is six years younger and 4 inches shorter. That would be DuJuan Harris, a second-year undrafted free agent who got his shot during the final month of the regular season and became the Packers' leading rusher, averaging more than four yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns in six games, including playoffs. The Packers signed Harris to their prac...

Cedric Peerman Signing Could Signal Departure Of Brian Leonard

Cincy Jungle — Over the past two seasons, the Bengals have been in complete overhaul mode at the running back position. Last year, they traded in longtime workhorse, Cedric Benson, for a newer model in BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The move paid off to an extent, as Green-Ellis had a solid season cracking over 1,000 yards rushing and wasn't the locker room question mark that Benson was. Now, in 2012, the Bengals face three two more running backs hitting free agency that they had on the roster last year. A third was looking to hit free agency, but the Bengals locked up Cedric Peerman on Thursday to a two-yea...

  • 2013 Packers Free Agent Breakdown: Ryan Grant
With injuries mounting late in the 2012 NFL season at the running back position, the Green Bay Packers brought back a blast from the past and signed Ryan Grant to try to find some semblance of a running attack late in the year. Grant was an afterthought for much of the season, being passed over in favor of Cedric Benson when the Packers looked for a veteran running option during the pre-season. Now Grant is once again an unrestricted free agent. 2012 Season Grant signed with the Washington Redskins a few weeks into the season, but he only played in one game with the Skins, recording a ...
  • 2013 Packers Free Agent Breakdown: Cedric Benson
We continue our look at the upcoming free agents for the Green Bay Packers with a look at a player who just came to the team via free agency last year: running back Cedric Benson. Benson’s time with the Packers is one defined by injury. He came to the Packers because of injuries to the running back group early in training camp, most notably a turf toe injury to James Starks. His season with the Packers came to an end in week five against the Colts with a foot injury of his own. Due to his age and the amount of carries he has had over his carry there is some question whether he woul...
  • 2013 Packers' Roster Evaluation - Running Back: Can DuJuan Harris Be The Answer?
Our series looking at the state of the Packers’ roster continues, with its focus staying in the offensive backfield. Running back is an odd position for the Packers right now. There are a few players who are not currently under contract that may vastly change this analysis, the best example being Cedric Benson. At the same time, the team does have a group of players that may be able to get the job done. There are bound to be a variety of opinions about how capable the group under contract is at the moment, but this just means it will be an interesting unit to watch this offseason. ...
  • Cedric Benson Has Low Odds Of Staying in Green Bay
According to Fox Sports Wisconsin, there's only about a 40 percent chance running back Cedric Benson will return to the Packers next season.Fantasy Spin:Benson missed most of the season with a Lisfranc injury. There isn't a high demand for running backs in their 30s so Benson could have trouble finding work this offseason.
