May 15, 2013FFToday QB competition expected in Jacksonville The competition for the quarterback job between Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne continues to be the focus of the camp. "It's going good," Bradley said. "We're rotating by period. There's a lot of competition and they're battling it. I think once we get pads on and see how they react in different situations, it will become more clear." (Florida Times-Union) FF Today's Take: Gabbert averaged 182 yards and 1 TD while Henne averaged 267 yards and 1.5 TDs per game last season. Gabbert will be given every opportunity to win the job, but this c...
May 15, 2013The Daily Dolphin | Palm Beach Post The Dolphins have said goodbye lately to a lot of key players from the last few years: Jake Long, Karlos Dansby, Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess, Chad Henne and Anthony Fasano, among them. Now, it’s my turn. It has been an incredible three-year run covering the Dolphins (maybe not for the team, but for me at least). Today, sadly, is my last day at the Palm Beach Post after eight amazing years – on May 20 I will be starting a new job as the national NFL/Patriots writer for the Boston Globe. The move is exciting, but bittersweet. It has been an honor covering the Dolphin...

Big Cat Country The Jacksonville Jaguars passed on drafting a quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft, instead bringing in Matt Scott and Jordan Rodgers as undrafted free agents. Going forward, the team has preached an open competition at the quarterback spot, but the odds on favorite to win the job is third-year quarterback and former first-round pick Blaine Gabbert. His biggest competition is going to be veteran Chad Henne, but last season in training camp Henne was terrible and he bombed out the rest of the season in 2012 once he took over the starting role. The bigger question that will be asked after t...
Jacksonville Jaguars May 7, 2013Florida Times-Union This was a very good draft for Jaguars quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. The Jaguars didn’t draft a quarterback in the first three rounds, and it’s unlikely a player drafted later than that can come in and win the starting job. General manager Dave Caldwell said the Jaguars didn’t draft a quarterback in the first three rounds because, “they had greater needs at other positions.” read more

Miami Dolphins April 21, 2013The Huddle QB Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said there is no favorite between QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne in the team's quarterback competition. 'We have two guys competing as hard as they possibly can to put themselves in position to be the starting quarterback,' Fisch said. Huddle Up: With Henne and Gabbert having struggled so far in their brief NFL careers, don't be surprised if the Jags add another young arm to the mix by drafting a QB fairly high.
April 18, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy Jaguars quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne kicked off the team's April minicamp by rotating reps with the first-team offense. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said he liked what he saw from both QBs so far and warned not to read too much into who gets reps first. "At some point in time, when we're playing games, the starter will get the reps first," Fisch said to the official team website. "At this point in time, we're just rotating through because it wouldn't be fair to evaluate somebody if they were always taking reps with a second-team group. Right now, we're rotating through." ...
April 18, 2013The Huddle Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne are rotating snaps during offseason workouts so they can both receive time with the starting offense. Huddle Up: Jacksonville's new staff needs to gauge its quarterback situation prior to draft day, so getting both Gabbert and Henne snaps makes sense.

Big Cat Country The Jacksonville Jaguars are the only team in the Top 10 of the 2013 NFL Draft who need a quarterback who hasn't done anything at the position. The team currently has just Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne on the roster, who for all intents and purposes split the starting role in the 2012 season. Gabbert had shown marginal improvement from his rookie season and was still very up and down, especially against good teams. At one point it appeared Gabbert was starting to turn the corner and played well against the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland Raiders, but suffered a shoulder injury agains...
Jacksonville Jaguars April 10, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora calls Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne "just a guy" while making a case why the team will pick Geno Smith with the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft. La Canfora went in detail on Blaine Gabbert, suggesting the coaches don't like him as much as they've been letting on, but ultimately thinks neither Gabbert nor Henne will be the long-term answer at quarterback for the Jaguars.
April 5, 2013Florida Times-Union Chad Henne has been something of a forgotten man in the Jaguars’ offseason quarterback derby. Most of the speculation has focused on whether Blaine Gabbert can rebound in his third season and what other quarterback moves the Jaguars plan to make in the NFL Draft later this month. At the moment, though, Henne is the only other quarterback on the roster besides Gabbert and with the job wide open, he is eager for a shot at winning the starting job. read more

Big Cat Country The Jacksonville Jaguars have just two quarterbacks under contract currently in Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. For all intents and purposes, they split the season's snaps in 2012 and the results weren't all that much different. The Jaguars have a voluntary mini-camp before the draft, and one would assume the team would like more than just two arms in camp, especially with Gabbert coming off his shoulder surgery and having some lingering nerve issues in his throwing arm. Available Quarterbacks Kellen Clemens Rex Grossman Tyler Thigpen Matt Leinart Brady Quinn John Skelton Byron L...
