With offense failing, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley says Henne still starting quarterback 'right now'

If the Jaguars opened their home season Tuesday at 1 p.m. against Indianapolis, Chad Henne would be the starting quarterback. But what about Sunday at 1 p.m.? It’s Henne … we think. Given numerous chances to close the door on chatter about Blake Bortles being promoted to face the Colts, coach Gus Bradley would only say Henne is the starter “right now,” and a “conversation hasn’t come up,” about switching quarterbacks. read more

It's not Chad Henne's fault that Chad Henne is the starting quarterback

Through two games, Chad Henne has been bad. Really bad. But for as frustrated as we are at Henne's bad play, he's not naming himself the starting quarterback. "I feel very strongly about Chad." With those six words, Gus Bradley has all but named Chad Henne as the starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they head into their Week 3 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Blake Bortles' first start will undoubtedly have to wait at least one more week. And as frustrated as I am that our home opener will be led by Henne, I can't blame him. How could I? Henne is who we thought he was. (Or a more...

Bradley says Chad Henne remains Jaguars starting QB

Although it didn’t resemble an complete endorsement, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said today that the plan is to have quarterback Chad Henne remain the starter for Sunday’s home opener against Indianapolis. Asked point-blank if Henne would start against the Colts following an 0-2 start marred by 13 sacks, Bradley said: read more

Jaguars will start Chad Henne against the Colts

Jaguars will start Chad Henne against the Colts

The Jaguars won't be making a change at the quarterback position just yet. The Jacksonville Jaguars will start veteran Chad Henne at quarterback on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. There was some thought that the team could make the switch to Blake Bortles after Sunday's performance in Washington, but head coach Gus Bradley is sticking with Henne for the time being. "I feel very strongly about Chad," Bradley said on Monday. Henne was sacked 10 times on Sunday against Washington, but some of that was on him holding the football. The offense overall was listless and scored only on what...

Jaguars Notebook: Bortles learning from sidelines

Bortles learning from sidelines The Blake Bortles Development Plan is in full swing. The No. 3 pick in the draft shined in the preseason, completing 32-of-51 passes for 521 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Eleven of his completions gained at least 20 yards. However, Bortles’ role now is to learn and grow behind veteran starter Chad Henne. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Friday that Bortles’ attitude is “great, tremendous.” He’s also seeing positive signs in practice. read more

Eagles' Fletcher Cox fined for hit on Henne, not tackle of Gerhart

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox was not fined for his horse-collar tackle of Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart in the teams’ game last week. But Cox was fined $16,375 for a hit on quarterback Chad Henne. Cox was penalized 15 yards for the illegal tackle of Gerhart, who sustained a sprained right ankle on the play. He returned to the game. Cox was not penalized for the hit on Henne.

Jaguars want Chad Henne to be more like Blake Bortles

The Jaguars want Chad Henne to be more "explosive" on offense, which makes it sound like they want him to be more like Blake Bortles. The Jacksonville Jaguars have challenged Chad Henne to be more "explosive minded" with the football, meaning they would like for him to take more chances down the field. Henne had three completions over 20 yards on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, all to rookie receiver Allen Hurns and all in the first half. "The challenge we've thrown to Chad is to be more explosive-minded, take chances and have no fear," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said in his...

Jaguars comfortable asking Chad Henne to take more risks

Quarterback Chad Henne has an earned reputation as an efficient signal-caller, not an explosive one. But in his third season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team is asking him to do more.

Jaguars Insider: Analyzing Chad Henne's shots down the field

Jaguars Insider: Analyzing Chad Henne's shots down the field

One thing Blake Bortles was unafraid of doing during the preseason was driving the football down the field. Maybe that’s youth, but it could be confidence and the fact the games didn’t count. That attitude, though, wasn’t present with Chad Henne during the Jaguars’ 34-17 season-opening loss at Philadelphia on Sunday. But it’s something the Jaguars are still working on with Henne during the regular season. Of Henne’s 43 pass attempts, only four (9.3 percent) traveled more than 16 yards downfield. read more

Jaguars vs. Washington fantasy football: Allen Hurns, Chad Henne, and Jacksonville's defense

The Jaguars are on the road against another NFC East opponent, and even though Chad Henne is frustrating as hell he and a few other players could be good additions to your fantasy football roster. The Jacksonville Jaguars may have lost in spectacular fashion last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, building a 17-point lead at halftime and then allowing 34 unanswered points. But, with a receiver and quarterback finishing with mutli-touchdown games, there's a few players you need to pick up on the waiver wire this morning. Start 'Em QB Chad Henne: Fantasy football cares not if quarterbacks...
