Charles Tillman's Hall of Fame problem

Charles Tillman played a Hall of Fame-worthy career, but that alone won't get him to Canton. Jack Silverstein examines Tillman's Hall of Fame credentials, and the five Hall of Fame biases that might prevent him from donning the gold jacket. Okay Bears fans — this is going to be one of those "don’t shoot the messenger" stories. There is a strong possibility that Charles Tillman, one of the greatest players at his position during his career, won't be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In fact, I'd say he faces an uphill climb to Canton. Like Will Hunting before him, it’s not his...

Chicago Bears place three on the PUP list to open training camp

The Chicago Bears reported for training camp today, with their first practice slated for tomorrow morning, but they will be without three players. They have announced that outside linebacker Pernell McPhee, offensive lineman Amini Silatolu and wide receiver Marquess Wilson will all begin camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. McPhee has been rehabbing his left knee after having arthroscopic surgery in February, and Bears' general manager Ryan Pace says it's too early to tell if he will play in the preseason. McPhee is down about 10 pounds from last year to try and alleviate some...

He tells the USA Today that he will give his entire salary to "organizations with programs focusing on education and prevention of domestic violence and supporting survivors and their families." Rice claims he wasn't...

Chicago Bears 2016 Position Battles: Are the Outside Linebackers ready to dominate?

In order for Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense to really thrive, he needs his outside linebackers playing at a high level. This is a reason that the first big move by Chicago Bears’ general manager Ryan Pace was to acquire Pernell McPhee for him. When McPhee was signed last year, he was set to be the cornerstone of their brand new 3-4 defense for the next several years. Even though he struggled through a knee injury in the second half of the season, he brought the Bears exactly what they needed. Having good OLBs is also why the Bears moved up in the 2016 NFL Draft to take Leonard Floyd. With...

Weekly NFL Waiver Wire: Every transaction and a look at which moves relate to the Seahawks

Josh Gordon's indefinite suspension was lifted, while Peanut Tillman, Eugene Monroe, and a handful of veterans announced their retirements this week. Retirement seemed to be the theme this week in transactions. Former Pro-Bowlers Charles "Peanut" Tillman, Greg Jennings, and Darnell Dockett all announced their retirements this week, along with starting offensive tackles Phil Loadholt and Eugene Monroe.
