Tillman Working for Peanuts, $1.5m Cap Hit

Charles "Peanut" Tillman signed a $3m one year contract to play for Carolina, but half of that contract is based on incentives not expected to be earned. ESPN's David Newton gave us a much more detailed look at Charles Tillman's contract today, and the numbers show that the veteran pro bowler is playing for an extremely reasonable price. From his article: Average per year: $1.75 million Signing bonus: $350,000 Roster bonus: $15,625 per game on the 46-man roster with a maximum of $250,000 Workout bonus: $150,000 Playing-time incentives: Up to $1.3 million in NLTBE [Not Likely To Be Earned]...

Tillman a Perfect Fit in Carolina

If Tillman can stay healthy he could be the free agent pick up of the offseason for the Panthers. I had no idea the extent of his connections to Carolina. The 12 year Bear obviously played with HC Ron Rivera. But he also is real tight with Panthers secondary coach Steve Wilks, who was a good friend when Tillman's infact daughter had heart surgery: Carolina Panthers’ Charles Tillman, 34: ‘I can be an every-down corner’ | The Charlotte Observer The Charlotte Observer "He was someone I would lean on and call and get advice. Panthers Sign CB Charles Tillman to 1-Year Deal

Panthers add another veteran presence to the locker room. The Carolina Panthers announced today that they have signed former Chicago Bears CB Charles Tillman to a one year deal. The 13 year vet, affectionately known as "Peanut", has 36 career INT's and 42 forced fumbles in his career with the Bears. This signing is important in more ways than one. Besides the obvious fact this bolsters a secondary that doesn't feature a ton of experience still at the CB position, the Panthers are adding one of the NFL's best in terms of personal character to the team. Last year, Tillman was the recipient of...

Carolina Panthers Visiting With Charles Tillman

According to multiple reports, former Chicago Bear, Charles Tillman, was in Charlotte today looking to possibly find emploment with the Carolina Panthers. If you think about it, this move makes a great deal of sense for both parties. If Tillman, at 34, still has something left in his tank, then the Panthers would be gaining an inexpensive, high character veteran who can still make plays. This potential signing would also reunite Tillman with Ron Rivera, who was his defensive coordinator for three years in Chicago. Only time will tell whether or not the two sides can reach an agreement...
