New England Patriots: Sean Payton Discusses Brandin Cooks Trade

One of the most shocking trades of the offseason was the New England Patriots acquiring Brandin Cooks. What did Cooks’ former coach have to say about him? Coming into the offseason, wide receiver was not considered to be a position of need for the New England Patriots. The Patriots take playing ping pong very seriously

It should come as no surprise that the New England Patriots are just as competitive in ping pong as they are in football. On Saturday, Julian Edelman shared a short snippet of a ping pong match between himself and Danny Amendola.

Patriots make an uncharacteristic splash on Day 1 of NFL free agency

In 2016, the biggest contract the Patriots handed out on the free agent market was a $12 million pact with wide receiver Chris Hogan. On Thursday, the first day of NFL free agency, the club doled out $65 million — $40 million of which is guaranteed — for Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore. With a single move, the team spent more money on one premier player than it had spent in the past two offseasons combined.

Bill Belichick saw ‘a strong, downhill runner’ in Bills restricted free agent Mike Gillislee

Bill Belichick saw ‘a strong, downhill runner’ in Bills restricted free agent Mike Gillislee

Mike Gillislee rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patriots on Oct. 30. Last March, the New England Patriots stepped into the depths of restricted free agency and lured wide receiver Chris Hogan out of the Buffalo Bills’ waters on a three-year, $12 million deal. This March, it’s worth wondering if the Patriots will attempt to take a similar approach with running back Mike Gillislee now that the NFL’s legal tampering window is open. The Bills submitted an original-round tender to Gillislee on Tuesday, giving the organization the right of first refusal in the...

17 Years of Patriots: Analyzing wide receivers and tight ends under Bill Belichick

17 Years of Patriots: Analyzing wide receivers and tight ends under Bill Belichick

Xs, Zs, Slots, and tight ends! It’s kind of crazy to think about, but the Patriots ended 2016 with a top five wide receiver corps in the NFL. How many other teams could brag about leaving an ex-top 10 pick with 849 yards and 5 touchdowns on the year as an inactive in the playoffs? The group of Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Malcolm Mitchell, Chris Hogan, and Michael Floyd may be New England’s most talented complement of playmakers ever, and when Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett are taken into consideration Tom Brady looks like a very lucky man indeed. One factor that elevated this...

PFF: Move over Aaron Rodgers, Patriots QB Tom Brady has the best deep ball in the NFL

The Patriots quarterback has continued his mastery of the sport. Pro Football Focus (PFF) looked at the quarterbacks that had the most success targeting any given route and New England Patriots QB Tom Brady featured as the best quarterback at a pair of routes that require impeccable touch and timing. Brady finished as the #1 quarterback in PFF’s ratings, so they’re a big fan of his 2016 season. ESPN names four players that could interest the Patriots in free agency

ESPN’s Mike Reiss has the inside scoop on the Patriots. ESPN’s Mike Reiss named four possible free agent targets for the New England Patriots and they’re worth noting because Reiss is the best in the business. Last year, Reiss connected the Patriots to Bills WR Chris Hogan, and the Patriots ultimately signed him away from their division rivals. Reiss also mentioned WR Rod Streater; the Patriots worked out Streater a few days later. Here are the four players that Reiss names and my thoughts on each player. This former UNH star isn’t into Chris Hogan comparisons. He just wants to make the NFL.

Dalton Crossan has heard all the comparisons. But he’s not really into them. Sure, he understands why people want to make him out to be the next Chris Hogan — lacrosse star turned football player hoping to make it big in the NFL — though the former University of New Hampshire standout quickly points out […]
