New England Patriots links 6/21/16 - Patriots best ball-security team in NFL over past five years

Daily news and links for 6/21/16 TEAM TALK John Rooke's View from Above: Develin's worth measured in more than just numbers. Angelique Fiske collects some Patriots players' Twitter comments during NBA finals. LOCAL LINKS Mark Daniels notes Chris Hogan is eyeing the No. 3 receiver spot. Hogan has never started more than four games, caught more than 450 yards or scored more than four TDs in a season, but it's still possible. Christopher Price writes about Terrance Knighton's long journey back to New England "and his Mom Rochelle couldn't be happier." Tom E. Curran explains why he...

WATCH: Patriots QB Tom Brady performs passing drills with new WR Chris Hogan

Feel like you're a part of the action and watch the Patriots minicamp drills! Major props to MassLive for getting these videos of the New England Patriots minicamp drills. They don't mean much, but you can make inferences about depth charts based upon the order and alignment. Mostly, this is just a fun way to feel like you're at the camp watching the practice. In this first video, we have quarterback Tom Brady throwing to his wide receivers. Receivers Keshawn Martin (in the slot) and Chris Harper (on the outside) start off the drill, quickly followed by Chris Hogan (in the slot) and Aaron...

Patriots might be moving pass rusher Rob Ninkovich to linebacker

This could be the Patriots headscratching move of the offseason. I'm feeling like Jon Snow right now as the New England Patriots keep throwing curveballs in training camp. When the Patriots signed Shea McClellin in free agency, we thought he would serve as a back-up for Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins at linebacker. Reports have surfaced that McClellin has been working with the edge defenders- which led me to write an article about a possible defensive wrinkle in the works. The basic idea is that Rob Ninkovich and Shea McClellin are both ideal 3-4 outside linebackers and could be perfect...

Cardinals and ex-Patriots OLB Chandler Jones "circled" week 1 game against New England, probably be mic'd up

The former Patriots pass rusher is looking forward to facing his old team. The New England Patriots had to make a business decision this offseason and decided to receive immediate compensation for the inevitable departure of edge defender Chandler Jones. Jones was set to be a free agent after the 2016 season and the Patriots were likely unable to retain his services, with linebackers Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins, cornerback Malcolm Butler, and even fellow edge defender Jabaal Sheard all due for new deals. If Jones signed a big deal in free agency, the Patriots could have received a...

2016 Patriots Minicamp June 8th Notes: C Bryan Stork fights rookie and gets kicked out of practice

Every single detail you need from the Patriots Wednesday mandatory minicamp! The Patriots met for the second straight day of practice and we're starting to see some definite developments. Four new players were absent, and we witnessed the first potentially serious injury. Rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett really seems to have settled down and had the highest completion rate of the quarterbacks. Rob Ninkovich continues to line up everywhere. A pair of players were tossed from practice. With incumbent starters not at practice, a few back-ups have had a chance to shine. Receiver Aaron Dobson...

PFF: Patriots cornerbacks rank 1st in division, 2nd best in the AFC

The Patriots continue to field the best young talent in the entire league. The New England Patriots cornerbacks are some of the youngest in the league, but that doesn't stop them from being the best. While veteran E.J. Biggers turns 29 next week, he's not projected to have a big impact on defense in 2016. Malcolm Butler is the old man in the room at 26 years of age, while Logan Ryan and Darryl Roberts are 25 years old. Second year corner Justin Coleman is 23 and rookie Cyrus Jones is 22. These players haven't even entered their prime and will be even better next year. That should be scary...
