Chiefs’ Chris Jones is still a monster but now he can stop the run

Chiefs’ Chris Jones is still a monster but now he can stop the run

Chris Jones had a fantastic rookie season. I knew it, you knew it, fans of CERTAIN other teams knew it. But not everyone knew it. I wrote about Jones and his rookie season here. In that article, I broke down how much impact Jones had in a lot of ways that don’t end up in the box score. There’s no stat for “forced quarterback to pull the ball down and scramble” or “crushed the pocket and prevented the QB from escaping,” or “forced the RB to go outside and into a wall of defenders.” Which is unfortunate, because it often means that good play by defensive linemen (particularly...

Chiefs snap counts: Chris Jones has monster game on fewer than half the snaps

Chiefs snap counts: Chris Jones has monster game on fewer than half the snaps

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-20 on Sunday despite running 19 fewer offensive plays. The Chiefs did not look like the offense that beat the Patriots last week but a win is a win. We grabbed the snap counts from the NFL for the Eagles. Here’s what stood out: Quarterback QB Alex Smith: 53 Alex Smith did come up slowly late in the first half. The Chiefs called a timeout after he fell on his shoulder and the trainers looked at him. It apparently wasn’t serious because he came back in and looked OK walking into his postgame presser. However, I did see Patrick...

Chiefs’ Chris Jones talking about his interception is too much fun

Chiefs’ Chris Jones talking about his interception is too much fun

Chris Jones is a treasure. He’s one of the guys you have to make sure you talk to after Kansas City Chiefs games. After he had three sacks and an interception (!!) against the Eagles, it was a no brainer we would talk to him and he delivered. Here are a few quotes on his interception and ensuing return: “I was headed home. I’m not talking about the end zone. I’m talking about to Overland Park! I was headed home! I was outta here. I had to realize where I was.” “I was thinking one of these little guys is about to kill me while I’m jumping in the air that long. That’s why I...

Fat guy interception: Chiefs’ Chris Jones picks off Carson Wentz

Fat guy interception: Chiefs’ Chris Jones picks off Carson Wentz

The KC Chiefs led the NFL in turnovers last year and Chris Jones is working to keep it that way this year as well. The Chiefs defensive linemen have been getting their hands up and disrupting Carson Wentz passes in today’s game and after another tipped pass Chris Jones was in position to intercept the pass. Smith, Elliott, Collins, Moore, or Jones? Which Cowboys group who share these names is the best?

The Cowboys have many players who share last names. Who do you like the most? The Cowboys have 12 players - more than a fifth of their roster - who share last names with a teammate. The Smith name leads with four players - Tyron, Jaylon, Rod, and Keith - two of whom are actually brothers. Ezekiel Elliott was just joined by Jayrone Elliott. Maliek Collins and La’el Collins share last names. Kellen Moore, the man the Cowboys can’t seem to get rid of, shares last names with Damontre Moore. The last pairing is Byron Jones and Chris Jones. The Cowboys lost one of these pairings in the...
