Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long gets rewarded with another off-field accomplishment. His NFL career might be over, but Chris Long’s off-field accomplishments are just getting started. The Philadelphia Eagles have been fortunate enough to have Long in town for two short years. While two years doesn’t seem so long, it truly feels like […] Former Eagles pass rusher Chris Long rakes in another “Good Guy” Award - Inside the Iggles - Inside the Iggles - A Philadelphia Eagles Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Chris Long becomes the first NFL player to win the “Good Guy Award” twice

Well deserved. The Pro Football Writers of America announced that retired Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long is their 2019 Good Guy Award winner. Long previously received this honor last year. He’s the first ever recipient to win more than once. Here’s the explanation from PFWA’s site: The Good Guy Award is given to an NFL player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs. The award has been presented annually by the PFWA since 2005. Long was commended by local and national media alike for his willingness to provide thoughtful,...

Chris Long looking to ‘de-stigmatize it’ marijuana use in NFL

Chris Long retired from the NFL last week and now he has a new goal, de-stigmatize what most believe about marijuana use. Shortly after retiring Long admitted to using marijuana during his time in the NFL, but says he doesn’t like to call it an admission because there is nothing wrong with doing it and […] The post Chris Long looking to ‘de-stigmatize it’ marijuana use in NFL appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Eagles defensive end concerns, Doug Pederson disrespected, and more

BGN Radio Episode 54! Memorial Day weekend is here and there’s no better way to spend it than by listening to some Philadelphia Eagles talk. The latest BGN Radio podcast episode features John Stolns and I discussing the following topics: What Chris Long’s retirement means for the Eagles. Is it safe to say defensive end is the biggest concern on the team right now? The Eagles are counting on bounce back seasons from Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry in addition to a breakout season from Derek Barnett. The fourth defensive end spot is unsettled and that’s not insignificant — especially...

Chris Long admits to smoking marijuana, calls NFL drug-testing plan “kind of silly”

Having announced his retirement last week after 11 NFL seasons, Chris Long is now even more free to speak his mind on the issues that perplex the league (though he never really was afraid of doing that during his playing days, either). So that's what he did during an appearance Wednesday on "The Dan Patrick Show" when he said he "enjoyed my fair share" of marijuana during his playing days and became the latest player or former player to question the effectiveness of the NFL's drug-testing policy and its policy prohibiting marijuana.

Retired Eagles DE Chris Long shares his thoughts on marijuana

Chris Long appeared on the Dan Patrick show recently to discuss his retirement, and his thoughts on marijuana usage. This one was interesting. One has to wonder what the newly-retired Chris Long is thinking about these days. For the first time in forever, and offseason begins, and there’s no football team to report to. Chris Long opens up about marijuana use throughout his NFL career

The recently retired Eagle explained how it helped him and why it shouldn’t be such a shock. Former Eagle and recently retired NFL veteran Chris Long called into the “Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday and opened up about his use of marijuana during his career, and where he thinks the NFL should be headed on the issue. According to Yahoo Sports, he discussed: “We should be headed to a place where we allow players to enjoy what I would not even call a drug - it’s far less dangerous than guzzling a fifth of alcohol and going out after a game,” Long said. “Chances are the player...

Eagles sign offensive lineman to fill out 90-man roster

Eagles sign offensive lineman to fill out 90-man roster

More OL depth. The Philadelphia Eagles signed undrafted rookie free agent offensive lineman Casey Tucker, according to an official announcement from the team. Tucker was one of 27 tryout players who participated in the Eagles’ rookie minicamp this year. The 6-6, 308 pound blocker has experience at both guard and tackle but the Eagles are listing him as the latter. The Eagles had a vacant roster spot to fill after officially placing Chris Long on the reserve/retired list. Signing Tucker fills that opening. Tucker is likely just a camp body. He’ll try his best to compete for a practice...

Eagles offseason roster overview

Eagles offseason roster overview

Players on the team heading into OTAs. Before the Philadelphia Eagles begin their first OTA practice, here’s a reminder of what their roster looks like. The team is currently one spot short of the 90-man offseason limit following Chris Long’s retirement. Remember that the Eagles will have to cut this roster down to 53 players before the regular season starts. Offseason workouts are obviously a key time for players to fight for their jobs. The Eagles added a number of new faces through free agency and the 2019 NFL Draft. Here’s a list of every player sorted by position. (Click here to...

Eagles open up roster spot by placing Chris Long on reserve/retired list

It’s official. The Philadelphia Eagles placed Chris Long on the reserve/retired list today, according to the NFL’s official transaction wire. This development obviously comes as no surprise given that Long announced his retirement on Saturday evening. Placing Long on the reserve/retired list is essentially like cutting him, except for the fact the Eagles still own his rights. Long is no longer taking up a spot on the Eagles’ 90-man roster. The team is also now clearing $5.3 million in cap space compared to $300,000 in dead money. The savings bring the Eagles up just over $27 million...
