Whether they like it or not, the Panthers will have to run against the Saints

Whether they like it or not, the Panthers will have to run against the Saints

The Saints have the best run defense in the NFL, but the Panthers will have to run to win. The Carolina Panthers 26-20 loss to the Cleveland Browns all but destroyed their hopes for the playoffs. Cam Newton threw for 265 yards (and surpassed 3,000 passing yards for the eighth straight season), but was hindered by his right shoulder. Newton overthrew an open Jarius Wright on 4th and goal at the three yard line with 2:35 left. Then in the final 57 seconds, Newton missed Devin Funchess and was intercepted. Christian McCaffrey, per usual, was a bright spot in a dimming Panthers’ offense....

The good, the bad and the ugly from the Panthers’ 26-20 loss to the Browns

The good, the bad and the ugly from the Panthers’ 26-20 loss to the Browns

The format fits yet again after another disappointing loss by the Panthers. The good There were a number of players who had a nice game for the Panthers in spite of the outcome. Linebacker Luke Kuechly led the team with eleven tackles and two forced fumbles. Rookie cornerback Donte Jackson had a decent game as well with nine tackles, if you ignore the first play the Browns ran. Likewise running back Christian McCaffrey had 111 combined yards rushing and receiving and ran for two touchdowns. While those are worthy performances the player I have chose to highlight here is the break out game...

The Panthers gave several players the day off as they prepare to face the Browns on Sunday. The Panthers have released today’s injury report as they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Browns. It’s pretty much what you would expect the first injury report of Week 14 to look like. The Panthers gave several key veterans a break today, as they are wont to do on Wednesdays. Julius Peppers, Thomas Davis and Ryan Kalil are among those who took the day off. DNPs: Turner, R Kalil, Silatolu, Davis, Peppers.Several of those guys probably rest days.— Joe Person (@josephperson) December 5,...

Monday Morning Optimist: Norv Turner will be the key to the Panthers relevance next year

Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey’s career days are why I’ll keep watching the Carolina Panthers The Panthers are a bad team with a bright future. They showed us that at Pittsburgh and then again at Detroit. Just in case you missed those shows they brought it home and showed their fans just how much they love making Ron Rivera talk about missed opportunities. The loss to Seattle provided the Panthers with a veritable flood of opportunities to score or force overtime. They couldn’t have hit that water if they were standing in a riverboat. This is the part where I say that bright...
