Vikings quarterbacks ready for televised battle of alma maters

Teddy Bridgewater and Christian Ponder have been going at it all week. If it keeps up, Matt Cassel might have to step in to referee.

Vikings: 5 keys to beating the Bucs

1. Keep Teddy upright: Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been looking up a lot lately while on the ground. He's been sacked 13 times in the past two games. Throw in a game that backup Christian Ponder played, and Minnesota quarterbacks have gone down 19 times in the past three weeks. At least Sunday the Vikings are facing the worst defense in the NFL statistically in Tampa Bay. And Minnesota should have back center John Sullivan and guard Vlad Ducasse, who were knocked out for the game in the first quarter last Sunday at Buffalo.

Vikings: Teddy Bridgewater gets advice from Christian Ponder

The Vikings have a struggling rookie quarterback. A quarterback who not so long ago dealt with his own struggles as a rookie is lending a helping hand.

An Actual Minnesota Vikings Feel Good Story

It's nice to read about members of the Minnesota Vikings doing good things, particularly in light of everything that's happened with this team in recent weeks. This story from yesterday gives us one such example. This is the story of Brianna and Emily Robbins, a couple of girls from Minnesota who lost their mother recently. Their father took them shopping yesterday, and they just happened to run into Christian Ponder and his wife, Samantha, who were shopping at the same store. The girls and their father got their pictures taken with Ponder (who they recognized immediately), and things went...

Vikings Rewind: Christian Ponder's second interception

The situation: The Vikings are down 21-0 to the Packers with 6:40 left in the first half. They’re facing a 2nd and 8 on their own 22 and elect to pass. The reason: They’re down three scores after quarterback Christian Ponder threw a pick-six on the previous drive. They will receive the ball to start the second half and could make it a game if they score on this possession. The result: Packers linebacker Jamari Lattimore intercepts Ponder’s pass intended for running back Jerick McKinnon. How it happened: The Vikings are lined up in 11 personnel, meaning one running back and one tight...

The MBT Era Is Dead! Long Live The MBT Era!

The MBT Era Is Dead! Long Live The MBT Era!

The semi-legend gets his walking papers, but the Vikings sign three more guys in his place you've probably never heard of So what was your favorite moment of the MacLeod Bethel-Thompson era? I was particularly fond of the thought that he was better than Christian Ponder, and was an All Pro in waiting if he was just given the chance. And you know, after watching Christian Ponder struggle last week, I was willing to give him a shot. But no, now we'll never get that chance, because Thompson was cut this morning. But he can hit the street unemployed knowing that it took not one, not two, but...

Vikings: Teddy Bridgewater inactive, Christian Ponder to start against Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- With Teddy Bridgewater inactive because of a sprained left ankle, Christian Ponder took over as the Vikings' starting quarterback for Thursday night's game against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

Ponder set to start at QB for Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater’s ankle injury apparently will keep him out of tonight’s game at Green Bay. Christian Ponder will start at quarterback for the Vikings, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport (@rapsheet). The NFL Network is televising tonight’s game. Bridgewater was listed as questionable (50 percent chance of playing), but will be inactive. Ponder played last season when the Packers and Vikings tied 26-26 in Green Bay. Earlier today, the Vikings activated quarterback Chandler Harnish, who joined the team earlier this week, from the practice squad.

Teddy Bridgewater listed as questionable for Packers game; Chad Greenway out

By Chris Tomasson ctomasson@pioneerpress.com Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was listed Wednesday as questionable for Thursday night’s game at Green Bay. The rookie suffered a sprained left ankle last Sunday against Atlanta and didn’t practice Monday and Tuesday. The Vikings on Wednesday went through with what coach Mike Zimmer called a “job-through,’’ but it wasn’t open to the media. A source close to Bridgewater said he was continuing to get treatment around the clock and called him a “game-time decision.’’ If Bridgewater can’t go, Christian Ponder will get the...
