Colin Kaepernick in a Star Wars helmet as "Random Bounty Hunter"

Happy Halloween, everybody! The picture above is from yesterday, so not quite a Halloween celebration, but I like it! Colin Kaepernick is on the right as "Random Bounty Hunter", his brother Kyle is on the left as "Random Sith Lord", and the guy in the middle as "Random Storm Trooper" is D.J. E-Rock, who is a Bay Area DJ that works at clubs in Las Vegas. If you're wondering why they have "Random" on their shirts, it comes courtesy of a guy named Diplo. He's a DJ who happens to be an Eagles fan, but is a big fan of Colin Kaepernick. His most recent record was "Random White Dude be...

Colin Kaepernick on the Rams: “They have a lot of different things they can do. Very good defense, we have to be ready for them.”

SANTA CLARA — Here is the transcript of Colin Kaepernick’s Wednesday interview, courtesy of the 49ers’ P.R. department. How was the time off? Did you do anything fun? “Rested up.”   St. Louis this weekend, what are you expecting, especially seeing an opponent for the second time so soon? “They have a lot of different […]

Getting to know the Chiefs

The New York Jets aren't the only team that has faced a Murderer's Row of quarterbacks. The Kansas City Chiefs have played Peyton Manning, Colin Kaepernick, Philip Rivers and Tom Brady -- on the road. Unlike the Jets, they didn't crumble. Without two injured Pro Bowl players, safety Eric Berry and linebacker Derrick Johnson, the Chiefs still rank third in total defense and third in scoring defense. The man in charge of their defense is former Jets assistant Bob Sutton, who worked under four Jets coaches -- Al Groh, Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini and Rex Ryan.

Quarterback Total Accuracy: Colin Kaepernick, Philip Rivers lead the way

Total Accuracy has been updated through Week 8's action, and there's a new leader, a guy the Field Gulls faithful knows very well...let's call him a "rival" or "arch nemesis" Yep, you guessed it, Colin Kaepernick. For those just tuning in, Total Accuracy weighs a quarterback's Accuracy Percentage ranking against his Average Depth of Target Ranking in hopes of providing a better representation of each signal-caller's accuracy on aimed passes. Here's the updated chart: Rank Name AP Rank aDOT Rank 2x AP Rank Total Accuracy 1 Colin Kaepernick 5 10 10 20 T2 Philip...

Fantasy Football Week 8: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em

Having a tough time deciding on a few different players? Review this week's options or ask a question of our fantasy expert! Welcome to the 8th installment of Start ‘em and Sit ‘em.  I try and not call out obvious decisions or top 6 players at QB, top 15 at RB or WR and make this productive for possible decisions that each fantasy owner has to make each week. This is another small bye week as the relevant guys that are off are Eli Manning, Rueben Randle, Andre Williams, Odell Beckum, Larry Donnell, Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree.  Last week, we had an...

Visions of epic comeback spurred Harbaugh to stick with Kaepernick

Jim Harbaugh, known as Captain Comeback in his playing days, took the concept to another level Sunday night in Denver — at least in his own head. This comeback attempt was a lot to ask of Colin Kaepernick. (AP photo) The 49ers trailed 42-10 when they took possession at their own 13-yard-line with 11:22 left. Colin Kaepernick trotted onto the field, with a makeshift offensive line. It seemed curious to keep Kaepernick in the game at that point, given the risk of injury and the Broncos’ comfortable lead. As it turns out, Harbaugh thought the 49ers still had a chance. Yes, to win. “I was...

Hochman: 49ers Colin Kaepernick's birth mother in stands in Denver Sunday, awaits to see son

Colin Kaepernick's mother will be in the stands Sunday, watching Colin Kaepernick in her matching Colin Kaepernick jersey, alongside her other son, Colin Kaepernick's 10-year-old half brother.

Colin Kaepernick goes from Manning Passing Academy counselor to Manning’s ‘SNF’ counterpart

Rick Kaepernick vividly recalls dropping off his son at the Manning Passing Academy in 2010 at Nicholls State University, about an hour drive outside of New Orleans. “Good luck,” Rick told him. “Dad, luck doesn’t have anything to do with… Continue Reading →

Jim Harbaugh gets plenty of TV time, Colin Kaepernick not so much

Jim Harbaugh gets plenty of TV time, Colin Kaepernick not so much

In a SHOCKING study, it turns out San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is show frequently during game broadcasts. A Wall Street Journal study of television time for coaches and players broke down the numbers for coaches and quarterbacks. Over the last few days, an article has been bouncing around the Internet regarding the frequency with which NFL coaches and quarterbacks show up on a television broadcast while on the sideline. I've posted the graphic down below, but to sum it up for our purposes, Jim Harbaugh leads all coaches in per game appearances, while Colin Kaepernick ranks...

Broncos vs. 49ers: The 'next step' for Colin Kaepernick and four other things to know

We asked five questions with San Francsico 49ers expert David Fucillo of Niners Nation. What is the "next step" for Colin Kaepernick, how will the 49ers handle these injuries, and who will win Sunday? 1. What is the "next step" for Colin Kaepernick, or has he already taken it? I think the next step for Colin Kaepernick is finding consistency. He can make virtually any throw, and of course he has other-worldly athleticism, but a bit more consistency would allow him to get closer to whatever his ceiling might be. We see stretches where Kap is unstoppable, as we saw early against the...

Colin Kaepernick not fined for Beats by Dre with taped over logo

Colin Kaepernick avoided a second fine for wearing Beats by Dre thanks to a taped over logo. Either way, the Beats co-founder is happy with the whole situation. What do you know, Colin Kaepernick actually avoided a fine this week! According to Matt Barrows, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback wore his Beats by Dre headphones this past Monday, but had the little b logo taped over. Previously, Kap was fined $10,000 for wearing the headphones to his post-game interview session, with the logo showing. The league has a sponsorship deal with Bose, and players are not allowed to wear competing...

Eagles Pass Rush Comes Alive

The Eagles didn't have a sack in Week 2 or Week 3. That raised more than a few questions about whether the Eagles could get pressure on the passer and play good defense. Those questions have been answered over the last 3 weeks. Colin Kaepernick is the most dynamic running quarterback in the NFL. I didn't know how Bill Davis would scheme against him. If you blitz Kaepernick, he can burn you. But there is also a lot of danger in sitting back and being conservative, not to mention players hate that strategy. They always want to attack. Davis attacked Kaepernick. Over and over. The...
