Redskins' McCoy: 'I’m just going to prepare as the starter'

Despite uncertainty about the status of Robert Griffin III, Colt McCoy is preparing to start Monday's game in Dallas.

Colt McCoy trying to tune out distractions as he prepares for start vs. Dallas

Colt McCoy has been a Redskin for less than seven months, but the significance of Dallas Week isn’t lost on him. Nor is the importance of leading Washington (2-5, 0-2) to its first NFC East victory when the team visits AT&T Stadium Monday night. But McCoy, 28, who last started an NFL game Dec. 8, 2011, […]

Colt McCoy: 'Being ignored is a great motivator'

"I always remained confident that if I could get back on the field, I would play well," Colt McCoy said. "Being ignored is a great motivator, that's for sure."

Set your expectations low for Redskins QB Colt McCoy

You wanted it, you got it: The Colt McCoy era has officially begun in Washington. And what a start it was. In relief of an ineffective Kirk Cousins, McCoy completed 11 of 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown, leading the Redskins down the field for a last-second, game-winning field goal. The Titans Season Summed Up In One Play

If you haven't seen a Tennessee Titans game all year, watch this one play and it will tell you all you need to know. The Titans season has been a disaster.  It has been a combination of funny, frustrating and the same old things over and over all year.  We saw all of that in this play from one play in Sunday's game. Let me set the stage for you: The Redskins entered the game with the Titans playing their back-up quarterback, Kirk Cousins.  He was so bad in the first half that he was benched in the favor of Colt McCoy.  Colt. McCoy.  That same Colt McCoy who isn't good and has no arm to...

DC Sports Bog: Colt McCoy wears Texas T-shirt in victorious Redskins locker room

Last I checked, former Redskins third-string quarterback and new presumptive Redskins starting quarterback Colt McCoy was in the top 15 of D.C. athletes, as ranked by Twitter followers. Why? Well, I’m guessing it has less to do with his professional exploits, and more to do with the large, ravenous and loyal Texas fan base, a fan base which — historically — has pushed Colt McCoy items higher than you’d expect in our “most-read” list. Redskins QBs will spend rest of season auditioning for jobs

The Redskins aren’t just seeking a starting quarterback for next season. Now they’re looking for a backup, too. Third-stringer Colt McCoy is in line to be the Redskins’ starter against the Cowboys on Monday night. While Robert Griffin III is expected to practice this week after missing five games with a dislocated ankle, coach Jay Gruden said earlier that two weeks would be needed to ready Griffin. But the third-year passer, who hasn’t been ruled out as this week’s starter, has always been a fast healer so who knows when he’ll return. Read full article >>

DC Sports Bog: Colt McCoy shoots deer target at Redskins Park

That Colt McCoy is fond of hunting is hardly news. He filmed a hunting TV show for the Longhorn Network with Jordan Shipley. He went hunting with Peyton Hillis in Ohio when both played for the Browns. He once passed on watching the Big 12 championship to go spotlighting with pals. Read full article >>

DC Sports Bog: Watch the Redskins’ Kirk Cousins hang his head, repeatedly

There was a lot of talk about Kirk Cousins’s body language during Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. It started before he threw the crushing interception near the end of the first half, and it continued after the move was made to Colt McCoy. Read full article >>

When was the last time the secondary gave up one touchdown in three weeks?

When was the last time the secondary gave up one touchdown in three weeks?

Over the last three weeks, the defense has allowed just 13.0 points per game and the secondary has given up just one touchdown through the air. When is the last time that happened? The Jacksonville Jaguars were getting bad very bad abysmal performances out of its secondary through the first four weeks of the season. A Nick Foles-led offense scored 34 unanswered points in one half, they made Kirk Cousins (who just got benched for Colt McCoy) look like Joe Montana, and Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers... well, those two are pretty good so they can be forgiven. But in the last three weeks, they...
