Hazard's Huddle: RT Tom Compton vs. Dallas Cowboys (2nd Half)

An All-22 film look at new RT Tom Compton who got the start vs. the Dallas Cowboys If you were on Hogs Haven yesterday, you saw my breakdown of Tom Compton's first half vs the Cowboys. If you didn't see it, you can find it HERE. Continuing where I left off, let's see how Compton held up in the second half. 1. Here is Tom Compton in pass protection. Colt McCoy trips during the play-action which messes up his drop. Still, Compton has flat feet on this play (not something he normally does) and lets the DE bend the edge. When McCoy recovers from the trip, he feels the pressure...

Vic’s picks against the spread Week 9

What a glorious week for sports. What a dominant, inspiring performance … Wait, you think we’re talking about Madison Bumgarner? No, Colt McCoy, leading Washington to the cover, the outright win and capping off our 9-6 week. Mad Bum was ok, too. Saints (-3.5) at Panthers – Never like siding with every other clown holding a betting slip, but there is no reason side with Carolina here. New Orleans’ offense is finally clicking. SAINTS Rams at 49ers (-10) – Two weeks of Harbaugh barking about blowout loss to Broncos. Just thinking about how annoying that would be gets me wanting to hit...

Vikings 4 Downs: RGIII or McCoy, O/U on Pro Bowlers, 2014 draft class and more

@MasterStrib which QB matchup is more favorable for the Vikings, McCoy or RG III? #VikingsST — Matt Pitcher (@MattPitcher3) October 30, 2014 Robert Griffin III will reportedly start after missing six weeks with a dislocated left ankle. He’ll likely be rusty, but I’d still think Griffin is a tougher matchup that Colt McCoy, who had a nice performance against the Cowboys on Monday. Griffin is the more talented quarterback and allows Washington to expand the playbook on offense. Washington has still been able to get big plays through the air, whether it’s Griffin, McCoy or Kirk Cousins,...

Cowboys need to tackle better

IRVING, Texas -- On Washington’s second play, Colt McCoy threw a pass in the left flat to tight end Niles Paul. Safety Barry Church whiffed on an open-field tackle he normally makes, resulting in a 20-yard gain. It was a harbinger. According to Pro Football Focus, the Cowboys missed a season-high 12 tackles in their 20-17 overtime loss to Washington. The Cowboys, according to the website, had not been in double figures for missed tackles since Week 1 against San Francisco, the only other team to beat the Cowboys this season.

McCoy settles in after shaky first half in Dallas

Colt McCoy had a spotty first half against the Cowboys but he settled in nicely after intermission.

Jay Gruden’s halftime talk calmed frustrated receivers, rallied offense

For quarterback Colt McCoy, who hadn’t started an NFL game in nearly three years, getting through the first half of Monday’s game against Dallas was a matter of shaking off rust, settling his nerves and adjusting to the speed of DeSean Jackson. McCoy proved a quick study in the 20-17 overtime upset. But it apparently […]

Tennessee Titans: 99 Problems

Obviously there's been a lot of focus on the quarterback of the Tennessee Titans. But Sunday proved that may be the least of their concerns. I've got 99 problems, and the QB is only one. Playcalling.  Personnel.  Offensive line.  Insane investment in the offensive line.  Holding.  Lack of playmakers.  Lack of direction. Lack of adjustments.  Can't catch the ball.  Can't throw the ball.  Getting beat by Colt McCoy.  Penalties.  3rd down, 3rd down, 3rd down, 3rd down. Hands to the face.  1st and long.  Called back plays.  Sacks.  Lack of pressure.  Growing pains.  Coaching....

Cowboys’ defensive unit didn’t get job done

With the game on the line, the Cowboys could not stop Colt McCoy and the Redskins.

Colt McCoy leads Washington to upset of Cowboys

Washington got a huge win on on Monday Night Football, closing out Week 8 with a 20-17 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys. It was not pretty at times, but it actually turned into a rather entertaining game. Colt McCoy will be billed by many as the hero of the day for Washington, completing 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards. He had one interception, but did scramble for a touchdown. Naturally this has 49ers fans talking about the decision to acquire Blaine Gabbert and not retain McCoy. We don't know what the relationship was like between McCoy and the 49ers, but the team parted ways with him...

Colt McCoy: Miracle worker? Nope

Leftover from Monday’s NFL Network’s NFL AM: “Colt McCoy could come out and have a lights-out game,” — host Erin Coscarelli, who did not play in the NFL. “No he can’t,” countered Eric Davis, who played pretty good CB. “No …
