Cowboys prepared for Redskins offense rather than QBs

A degree of uncertainty has loomed over Washington’s quarterback position this week, so in preparation for Monday night’s game, the Dallas Cowboys studied the Redskins’ offense rather than worry about whether Colt McCoy or Robert Griffin III would start. Jay Gruden said Monday that McCoy would get the start, but allowed himself some wiggle room, […]

DC Sports Bog: Rewatch Colt McCoy’s 2010 appearance on Jon Gruden’s “QB Camp,” if only for the yodeling question

In 2010, Colt McCoy, future Redskins hero, appeared on Jon Gruden’s QB Camp. Look at how fresh-faced and eager he was. The whole discussion is ace, but the best part was probably the section I’ve transcribed below, in which Colt McCoy is straight-up shamed for his Texas drawl. Read full article >>

Jenkins: Colt McCoy will get to show what he’s learned in his first Redskins start

Colt McCoy has been watching the other guys. Now it’s time for the other guys to watch McCoy, and if Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins are smart, they’ll understand they have something to learn from him, because the career arc of Washington’s third-string quarterback is the more common one in the NFL. The gleam is gone, his early hopes were dashed; he’s been on three teams in five seasons, seen coaching changes, and had a bum shoulder. But McCoy has survived to start again. Read full article >>

Colt McCoy trying to tune out distractions as he prepares for start vs. Dallas

Colt McCoy has been a Redskin for less than seven months, but the significance of Dallas Week isn’t lost on him. Nor is the importance of leading Washington (2-5, 0-2) to its first NFC East victory when the team visits AT&T Stadium Monday night. But McCoy, 28, who last started an NFL game Dec. 8, 2011, […]

Set your expectations low for Redskins QB Colt McCoy

You wanted it, you got it: The Colt McCoy era has officially begun in Washington. And what a start it was. In relief of an ineffective Kirk Cousins, McCoy completed 11 of 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown, leading the Redskins down the field for a last-second, game-winning field goal. The Titans Season Summed Up In One Play

If you haven't seen a Tennessee Titans game all year, watch this one play and it will tell you all you need to know. The Titans season has been a disaster.  It has been a combination of funny, frustrating and the same old things over and over all year.  We saw all of that in this play from one play in Sunday's game. Let me set the stage for you: The Redskins entered the game with the Titans playing their back-up quarterback, Kirk Cousins.  He was so bad in the first half that he was benched in the favor of Colt McCoy.  Colt. McCoy.  That same Colt McCoy who isn't good and has no arm to...

DC Sports Bog: Colt McCoy wears Texas T-shirt in victorious Redskins locker room

Last I checked, former Redskins third-string quarterback and new presumptive Redskins starting quarterback Colt McCoy was in the top 15 of D.C. athletes, as ranked by Twitter followers. Why? Well, I’m guessing it has less to do with his professional exploits, and more to do with the large, ravenous and loyal Texas fan base, a fan base which — historically — has pushed Colt McCoy items higher than you’d expect in our “most-read” list. Redskins QBs will spend rest of season auditioning for jobs

The Redskins aren’t just seeking a starting quarterback for next season. Now they’re looking for a backup, too. Third-stringer Colt McCoy is in line to be the Redskins’ starter against the Cowboys on Monday night. While Robert Griffin III is expected to practice this week after missing five games with a dislocated ankle, coach Jay Gruden said earlier that two weeks would be needed to ready Griffin. But the third-year passer, who hasn’t been ruled out as this week’s starter, has always been a fast healer so who knows when he’ll return. Read full article >>
