Lions OTAs: Rodney Austin, Corey Hilliard get turn with No. 1 offensive line

Pride Of Detroit — When the Detroit Lions first opened up their OTAs to the media last week, head coach Jim Schwartz stressed to not read too much into who was lining up with the first team. He noted that the Lions are rotating players to give multiple guys a chance to run with the first team, and since the media only got to view one practice, they were merely getting a snapshot of that day's No. 1 offense and defense. Proof of this came when the media got access to the Lions' OTA on Wednesday. Last week, Dylan Gandy and Jason Fox served as the No. 1 right guard and right tackle, but the rotation was dif...

Sammie Hill receiving interest from several teams

Pride Of Detroit — It's looking more and more like defensive tackle Sammie Hill won't be back with the Detroit Lions, as he is receiving interest from several teams. The Detroit Lions have already re-signed two players (Corey Hilliard and DeAndre Levy) who were set to become free agents, ensuring that they won't hit the open market. I'm sure there are others they'd like to get under contract before free agency begins next week, but the reality of the situation is that most or all of them will become free agents. One of the players who is almost surely going to hit free agency is defensive tackle Sammie H...

Lions re-sign Corey Hilliard to two-year deal

Pride Of Detroit — The Detroit Lions have re-signed offensive tackle Corey Hilliard, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal is for two years and ensures that Hilliard won't become a free agent when the new league year begins on March 12. According to Schefter, Hilliard is being brought back with the expectation that he will compete for a starting spot at right tackle. In other words, the Lions don't expect to re-sign Gosder Cherilus, so there will be a vacancy at right tackle.
