Ohio St. lineman Shugarts says he's signed with Lions

Shugarts, who went undrafted coming out of college in 2012, played briefly for the Jets practice squad last year. He has never played in an NFL game. The Lions are looking for a fourth offensive tackle to backup Riley Reiff, LaAdrian Waddle and Corey Hilliard. Shugarts will have to win that job in training camp.

Lions sign OT J.B. Shugarts

The Detroit Lions have added some extra offensive tackle depth by signing J.B. Shugarts. With Jason Fox signing with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, there was a vacancy on the Detroit Lions' depth chart at offensive tackle. The starting spots are set with Riley Reiff and LaAdrian Waddle, but Corey Hilliard was the only backup offensive tackle under contract. The Lions changed that on Thursday by signing offensive tackle J.B. Shugarts, who played college football at Ohio State.
