Roster Outlook: DL

Eagles Gab — This time last year, the Eagles thought they had the most feared defensive line in football. Jim Washburn was getting massive production out of Jason Babin, Trent Cole, and Cullen Jenkins. Then, 2012 happened. The team’s sack artists stopped producing and Washburn was fired in disgrace. Now, the Eagles are transitioning to a 3-4 defense [...]

Eagles Scouting Profile: Bennie Logan, DT, LSU

Bleeding Green Nation — The Eagles are transitioning to a new defensive scheme, and with that, comes changes. The team has dropped former scheme fits, such as Mike Patterson, Akeem Jordan, and Cullen Jenkins while adding new fits like Connor Barwin, Isaac Sopoaga, and Emmanuel Acho. The team also went new scheme-heavy in the this year's draft, picking up Utah's Joe Kruger, David King and Bennie Logan. Of the three, Logan is likely to have the earliest impact for the Eagles. Logan was taken by the Eagles in the 3rd round of this year's draft. At 6'2" and 309-pounds, Logan is a bit of tweener (a theme of this s...

Johnathan Hankins feels like 'one of the best'

Big Blue View — The New York Giants surrendered 4.6 yards per rushing attempt last season, 27th in the NFL. The free-agent signings of defensive tackles Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson as well as middle linebacker Dan Connor are an obvious effort to improve in that area. The addition of massive 6-foot-3, 322-pound defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins, selected Friday in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, is another step in that direction. Hankins met with the media after Friday's selection. Here is part of the Q&A; session. Q: Did you know the Giants were interested? A: Yeah, I knew they had a li...

New York Giants' Cullen Jenkins still has 'something to prove'

Big Blue ViewCullen Jenkins has a reputation as a disruptive pass-rusher from the defensive tackle position, and has 38.5 sacks in a nine-year career to back that up. Having signed with the New York Giants as a free agent in the off-season, the 32-year-old knows, however, that run defense has to be his top priority. Jenkins has been graded as a plus run defender only once since Pro Football focus began scoring players in 2008. He was +2.7 as a defensive end in the Green Bay Packers 3-4 defense in 2008. Last season, as a defensive tackle in the Philadelphia Eagles' 4-3, he was -9.8. His scores in 20...

Recapping Eagles’ Offseason Moves

Eagles Gab — Losses: CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: Has the length, athleticism, and cover ability of a #1 corner, but does not have the toughness, attitude, or consistent effort required to be a productive piece on a rebuilding team. (signed with Broncos) DT Cullen Jenkins: Productive pass rusher, but a liability against the run. Aging, overpaid player who can [...]

Giants to take a look at former Eagles DT Patterson

Giants Blog | New York Post — The Giants know all there is to know about Mike Patterson as an opponent, having tried to block him twice a season for the past eight years as a starting defensive tackle for the Eagles.
