WR Alexander signs tender with SD

FFToday — One-year, $1.323 million Restricted free-agent wide receiver Danario Alexander signed his contract tender with the San Diego Chargers on Thursday, the team announced. (ESPN) FF Today's Take: Alexander averaged 10.8 FPTs in 10 games for the Chargers last season and picked up the slack for the non-existent Robert Meachem. Alexander has battled chronic knee problems in his short career but will be an intriguing fantasy prospect as a projected starter in 2013.

Bolts From The Blue — Some Chargers fans were rather worried when new General Manager Tom Telesco placed the lowest possible tender on wide receiver Danario Alexander. Telesco could have placed a first or second round tender on Alexander, but would have placed the team on the hook for an additional $1.556 million for the former or an additional $700,000 for the latter. Given the limited cap space, Telesco gambled that no other clubs would be willing to risk a big contract on the injury prone wide out. The Huddle — The Cleveland Browns are believed to be a team to possibly have interest in restricted free-agent WR Danario Alexander (Chargers). Huddle Up: With former San Diego' head coach Norv Turner now running the offense in Cleveland, pursuing Alexander is a logical move, but the Chargers are expected to match any offers for the WR who led them with 37 catches for 658 yards and 7 TDs over the second half of the season.
