Friday's Patriots Free Agency Rumors, Updates, and News: Stevie Johnson, Reggie Bush, Evan Mathis, Percy Harvin

The Patriots were mostly quiet on Friday as all of the players they were linked to flew off the market. What you saw today was a great list of prospects that had been linked to the Patriots signing with other teams. The Patriots have some deals lined up that, like Danny Amendola's restructure, they're just waiting to announce. Let's review the Patriots news before running through the misses. Scott Chandler The Patriots scored tight end Scott Chandler and you can read about the signing here. Chandler has been in the league since 2007, but he only became a featured player on the Bills offense...

Looks like a one-year deal for Danny Amendola

We now have more context regarding the restructured contract for New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola. Reports of a three-year extension with a maximum value of $15 million were accurate, but a look at the finer print reveals this is essentially a one-year contract. As part of the restructure, Amedola’s base salary in 2015 was slashed from $4 million to $1.25 million. He did receive a signing bonus of $500,000 and his not-likely-to-be-earned incentives increased from $500,000 to $750,000.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola restructures contract; expected to lower cap hit

New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola restructured his contract with the team, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. This was anticipated as a possibility, with Amendola scheduled to earn $4 million in 2015 and count $5.7 million against the salary cap. As the team's No. 3 receiver in 2014, Amendola played 41.6 percent of the offensive snaps (he came on strong in the playoffs) and the sense was that management might not deem his contract numbers in line with his role in 2015.

Monday's Patriots Free Agency Rumors, Updates, and News: Darrelle Revis, Vince Wilfork, Shane Vereen, Roy Helu, Jabaal Sheard

Tomorrow marks the start of free agency, so here's a collection of all of Monday's scuttlebutt. The Patriots have approached this free agency period like a set of dominoes. They needed one to fall before everything else would tumble away. The goal was for Darrelle Revis to be the first domino to fall, but Devin McCourty threw a wrench into the plans. Brandon Browner is trying to find his market value, hopefully so he can fairly restructure his contract to free up cap space. Danny Amendola is another likely target for restructure. Others like Jerod Mayo, Kyle Arrington, and Nate Solder...

2015 Patriots GIF of the Year: IncrEdelman Punt Return vs Danny Amendola Redemption Tour

The Matt Light Division plays in the second round! 11. IncrEdelman Punt Return I just noticed how the punter shies away from potential contact. Brandon Bolden gets two for flinching, although I guess I totally understand that after this GIF tournament. Watch the punter and how he turtles and spins away from Bolden, even when he wasn't in actual danger. Look at how he runs after Julian Edelman just enough to show effort as a goal line offense, but actually doesn't even try to get Edelman to the ground. Sums up the Broncos. Two for flinching. 14. Danny Amendola Redemption Tour Danny...

2015 Patriots GIF of the Year: Amendola Improvisation vs Gronk Doing Gronk Things

The Troy Brown division takes on the second round! 4. Amendola Improvisation Danny Amendola is one slippery sonuvagun. You can tell that Tom Brady thinks that Amendola's going to run straight up the field, while Amendola is trying to cross the field to whip the defender away. The Patriots are lucky that Amendola didn't shake both the defender and the pass. The fact that Tom Brady has developed an ability to scramble has allowed the Patriots to counter a three-man rush. This was the biggest and best way for Rex Ryan to stymie the New England offense. Who knows what wrinkle they'll develop...
