Crabtree shelved with torn Achilles

CBSSports.com Fantasy — USA Today reports 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree tore his Achilles tendon on Tuesday. It is not known if he will try to play this season (like Terrell Suggs and Da'Quan Bowers did last year). ESPN reports that Crabtree had surgery Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined about six months. That timetable would put Crabtree out until at least some time in November.

FFChamps.com — According to USA Today, Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is facing gun charges after bringing a loaded gun into LaGuardia Airport in New York City.Fantasy Spin:Bowers hid the gun in his carry-on luggage. He's facing a minimum of three and a half years in prison and a maximum sentence of 15 years behind bars if convicted. Plaxico Burress faced similar charges and took a plea bargain that would allow him to serve 20 months. The 22-year-old from Clemson recorded 13 tackles and three sacks in 10 games last season.
