Big Blue View Love him or hate him, David Diehl has been a valuable member of the New York Giants offensive line for 10 seasons now. He has started somewhere on the line every season since coming out of the University of Illinois as a fifth-round pick in 2003. Diehl's place in the lineup at right tackle is now threatened by the arrival of first-round pick Justin Pugh of Syracuse and possibly the emergence of third-year player James Brewer. One thing the Giants' latest first-round pick will be trying to do besides protect Eli Manning is take care of the veteran linemen. While Pugh will certainly have to buy food and carry equipment from the practice field to the locker room, the rookie will also learn a wealth of wisdom from veterans like Snee, David Diehl, David Baas and Will Beatty.

New York Giants March 26, 2013Giants Blog | ESPN New York David Diehl has agreed to a pay cut, reducing his base salary for 2013 to remain with the Giants. According to the NFL Players Association website, Diehl's base salary has gone down from $4.475 million to $1 million for this coming season. There is no listed 2014 salary for Diehl, so it is a straight pay cut. The move was first reported by the New York Daily News. The Giants needed to free up cap space and recently re-signed left guard Kevin Boothe to a one-year deal.
