Browns notebook: Guard Joel Bitonio shows his speed in chasing down Devin Hester

ATLANTA: Browns left guard Joel Bitonio had made a tackle before. It came in 2013, during his senior season at San Diego State, when the Aztecs’ quarterback fumbled at the 50-yard line and Bitonio ran down a linebacker trying to return it for a score at the 5.But that was nothing like chasing down Devin Hester. The three-time Pro Bowler who holds the NFL record with 20 return touchdowns looked to be headed for No. 21 Sunday in the Georgia Dome. On the final play of the first half against the Browns, Hester caught a missed 60-yard field goal attempt by Billy Cundiff and brought it back 75...

Injury risk and penalty, Devin Hester did the right thing against the Panthers

Fact: Devin Hester has saved the world from comet-related destruction 7 times The Falcons' scrum against the hapless Panthers on Sunday was scary. It's always disconcerting when your team gets into a hockey-style brawl. But the Panthers are a team we're used to feuding with; from Greg Hardy's jawing to Steve Smith's touchdown celebration gone wrong, conflict between these two teams is inevitable. And if there's a chance your teammate gets hurt, sitting back and playing it smart just isn't possible. "
We are brothers," [Julio] Jones said. "We’re not going to let guys push us around,...

Falcons-Panthers post-game injury update: noteworthy injuries on both sides of the ball

Fact: Devin Hester was bit by a dog one; he bit it back Today was fun. It's nice to see the Falcons win back to back games, and even at 4-6, first place feels good. But it was a physical game, and there were injuries. Let's break those down. Robert Alford messed up his elbow in the first quarter. He was replaced by Robert McClain, who would later give up a 47 yard touchdown reception to burner Philly Brown. As inconsistent as Alford has been, he's a better option than McClain. He didn't play for the rest of the game. Let's hope that's not an indication of a serious injury. Jonathan...

Falcons Injury Report: Hester, Douglas Questionable Against Panthers

The Falcons listed three players as questionable ahead of Sunday's Week 11 tilt vs. Carolina. The Falcons delivered their final injury report for the Panthers game, and there are a handful of familiar names who will be listed as having a 50% or worse chance of playing for the game ahead. Harry Douglas (foot), Devin Hester (ankle) and Josh Wilson (ankle) are listed as questionable for Sunday's game. #ATLvsCAR — Atlanta_Falcons (@Atlanta_Falcons) November 14, 2014 The surprise addition to the report is Wilson, who has been seeing plenty of snaps in nickel packages. If he can't go,...

Falcons Injury Report: Hester and Douglas Return To Practice

Finally, the return of Falcons wide receiver duo that is not Roddy White and Julio Jones! The Falcons look surprisingly healthy for the first time in awhile, with the biggest news from the official site being wide receivers Devin Hester (ankle) and Harry Douglas (foot) returned to a limited practice. That sounds like a pretty good sign that both will play on Sunday against a decimated Carolina Panthers. Also of note, guard Justin Blalock (foot) and Jonathan Massaquoi (foot) were both limited. Offensive lineman Jonathan Scott (hamstring) missed his fifth practice in a row. No word if...

Falcons Injury Report: Douglas, Hester out

Harry Douglas and Devin Hester were both held out of Wednesday's practice with injuries. The foot injury that kept wide receiver Harry Douglas on the sideline for much of the first half of the season continues to plague him, as he was held out of Wednesday's practice. Receiver/return specialist Devin Hester was also sidelined on Wednesday with an ankle injury, and tackle Jonathan Scott did not practice Wednesday as he is dealing with a hamstring injury. Right guard Justin Blalock and occasional pass rusher Jonathan Massaquoi were both limited in Wednesday's practice with foot...

Falcons' Devin Hester prompts changes in Bucs' plan

TAMPA — The last time the Bucs saw Falcons PR/WR Devin Hester, he was striking a "Prime Time" pose on his way to the end zone with an NFL-record 20th return for a touchdown. That one came on a 62-yard punt return in the Falcons' 56-14 rout Sept. 18 at the Georgia Dome. The return broke the record of 19 held by Hester's idol, …

Video: Analysis of Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell's late-game play calling vs. Atlanta
