Grady Jarrett, Devin Hester held out of first Falcons OTA sessions

Injuries are a factor even in May, unfortunately. No NFL team is ever fully healthy, so I guess it's no surprise that the Falcons weren't today when they opened up organized team activities in Flowery Branch. The biggest name (and biggest concern, frankly) on the list belongs to Grady Jarrett, who is projected to seize a larger role in 2016 and was held out of camp today (and the rest of the week) with tendinitis in his knee. Tendinitis is not fun, and it's even less fun when you're a big fellow and it's in your knee. The Falcons are wise to take it easy with Jarrett, get him healed up,...

Devin Hester recently received strongest vote of confidence yet from Falcons staff

Maybe he'll stick around, after all. For many reasons, Devin Hester has been one of the easier cuts to predict over the last few months. The theory was that when he was healthy, the legendary returner would find himself seeking a gig elsewhere due to his lack of involvement in Kyle Shanahan's offense, the diminishing importance of returners, and finally, the Falcons drafting UCLA receiver/returner Devin Fuller in the seventh round. D.Orlando Ledbetter at the AJC recently had a new story recently about Hester that covers some of the same ground as this May 2 Vaughn McClure story, which is...

Devin Hester injury: Unless he's healthy, the Falcons may part ways with the returner

The legendary Hester's status could very well depend on his toe. Devin Hester has been trying to get healthy for a very long time, and he lost most of his 2015 season to ongoing issues with his toe, which he had surgery on in January. Still rehabbing from that surgery, Hester watched the Falcons draft Devin Fuller, a speedy UCLA wide receiver who many (myself included) believe may be the team's top option to return kicks and punts for Atlanta this year. Hester's not ready to concede that, though, and insists if he's healthy the Falcons should and will keep him around. "To be honest, the...

Why the word "reach" is overused and stupid

Some of you may want to reach for your pitchforks after reading this. It's inevitable, really. After months of discussing and analyzing and creating endless mock drafts, fans are looking back at their teams draft classes to do more discussing and analyzing. It's part of the fun of the NFL and most people realize that it is all just conjecture. Ultimately, these players have to take to the field to prove themselves. For every first round bust, there is an equivalent sixth round gem. It happens every year and it is often a thrill (or huge disappointment) to watch. Yet, there's this one word...

Free agent cornerback Leon Hall visiting the Falcons tonight

Atlanta's looking at the secondary after the draft, which is entirely appropriate. The Falcons won't have Jalen Collins for the first four games of the 2016 season, which always meant they were likely to shop for some help at cornerback. They're just aiming a little higher than I think we anticipated they would. Leon Hall in Atlanta tonight visiting with #Falcons. Met w/#Giants earlier today. More than a few teams interested. Played well last year — Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) May 4, 2016 Hall is a very good cornerback who has never totally got the recognition I feel he deserves,...

Falcons 2016 draft class have their jersey numbers

Make sure you rush out to buy your Wes Schweitzer jersey before they sell out! Falcons fans rejoice! Your 2016 rookie class finally has their numbers, which will make keeping up with them in training camp a tad bit easier. Here are the numbers that the 2016 class will be wearing during camp. SS Keanu Neal: 22 Formerly worn by the likes of Dezmen Southward and Asante Samuel. Hope he lives up to that enduring legacy. LB Deion Jones: 45 Formerly worn by TJ Duckett and Tom Moriarty. I really want to make a Sherlock Holmes joke right here. TE Austin Hooper: 81 Once worn by Billy "White Shoes"...
