Who is the best Bears first round draft pick of the last decade?

Who is the best Bears first round draft pick of the last decade?

As the 2014 NFL Draft gets ever closer, let's take a look back at what the Bears have done with their first round picks over the last decade. It's no secret that the Bears have a spotty draft history over the last decade. In fact, there's no sugarcoating it here, this article will drudge up memories of disappointing players. The point isn't to discourage optimism for next month's first round pick or to dump on former general manager Jerry Angelo. The fact is the overall drafts weren't as good as they should have been. In fact, with the departure of Devin Hester, the sole draft of the last...

Devin Hester's heart still in Chicago

Return man Devin Hester departed for the Atlanta Falcons via free agency, but it’s clear he’d like to still be with the Chicago Bears. Hester made that apparent Wednesday with a couple of posts on his Twitter account. Hester’s correct that there’s a good chance his exploits in Chicago won’t ever be duplicated, but he shouldn’t dismiss the possibility of eventually retiring as a Bear. From the looks of everything, the sides parted on good terms.

Jeremy Ross feels like he has plenty to show Lions this off-season

Jeremy Ross made his mark as a return man last year, taking a kick and punt back for a touchdown in the same game. Now, he's hoping for an even bigger score - an expanded role on offense.

NFL Owners Vote Down Moving Kickoffs To 40-Yard Line

Huge news for new Falcons returner Devin Hester. One of the most common gripes with the signing of Devin Hester was that the NFL was considering moving kickoffs to the 40 yard line, which would essentially make returners useless on the vast majority of kickoffs. Hester and fans can breathe a sigh of relief today: Good news for new Falcons return man Devin Hester that proposed measure of moving kickoffs to the 40-yard line apparently voted down. — vaughn mcclure (@vxmcclure23) March 26, 2014 The current kickoff rules still aren't exactly friendly for Hester and his ilk, but #17 still...

Falcons must find a way to block for Hester

Fact: Devin Hester's sweat smells like cologne By now I'm sure you've heard about Devin Hester's 3 year contract. Make no mistake, he's a dynamic talent with a proven track record, at least in the return game. While there's talk of finding Hester some role in the offense, that's a possibility shrouded in ambiguity. We know he wasn't particularly effective as a receiver in Chicago, and there's reason to doubt his ability to turn that around in Atlanta. But we are sure of is his ability to contribute in the return game, right? Hester could eclipse 10,000 return yards in 2014, assuming we...

49ers blog: Hester was on SF's radar; team checks out cornerback

The 49ers' desire to at least check out speedy receivers included another name - ex-Bears wideout and returner Devin Hester, who was signed by the Falcons this week. On a conference call with Atlanta-area reporters, Hester said San Francisco, Seattle, Miami and Tampa Bay were on his list of possible destinations. Devin Hester said 49ers were among his finalists before choosing Falcons

The San Francisco 49ers apparently kicked the tires on return man Devin Hester. My guess is money was a big reason it did not work out. On Thursday afternoon, the Atlanta Falcons announced they had signed "wide receiver" and return man Devin Hester to a 3-year contract. There is no word on the financial details, but Hester had some interesting comments in his Q&A with D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. According to Hester, the San Francisco 49ers were actually among his finalists, along with the Falcons and Buccaneers, and the Dolphins and Seahawks to some extent....

Double Coverage: Devin Hester

The Atlanta Falcons continued to bolster their roster for the 2014 season with the addition of the most accomplished kick return man in NFL history. Devin Hester, who spent his first eight seasons with the Chicago Bears, agreed to a three-year contract with the Falcons. The 31-year-old Hester could have an impact both on special teams and as a receiver. He just needed a fresh start. Hester has a chance to set a new NFL record for touchdown returns, a record he currently shares with his mentor and former Falcon Deion Sanders (each with 19).
