Cowboys sign receiver Briscoe, cut rookie lineman Whaley

The Dallas Cowboys cut rookie lineman Chris Whaley and sign wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe and tight end Dallas Walker.

OXNARD, Calif. -- The Dallas Cowboys signed wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe on Monday, bringing the total receivers on the 90-man roster to 11. To make room on the roster the team released defensive tackle Chris Whaley. Briscoe, a Dallas native, had not played in a regular-season game since 2012. He has been with the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins. Of his 43 career catches, 35 came in 2011 with the Buccaneers when he finished with 387 yards and six touchdowns.
