Cat Scratch Reader — Some of the links were discussed late last week but I've instead pulled some quotes we did not discuss. Leading off we have two free agents that know what it takes to win a SB and they talk about developing a winning culture: Chase Blackburn, Domenik Hixon bring Super Bowl pedigree to Carolina Panthers | Carolina Panthers | Rock Hill Herald Online"When it came down to the last two minutes, having the ball and needed a score (or) needed a stop, we felt like we were going to get that," Hixon said. "Just that culture to win. It takes time to build. It doesn’t just happen overnight. And I...

Potpourri: Domenik Hixon, the NFL Draft, and the deep ball

Cat Scratch Reader — I'm not sure about you, but I'm feeling pretty tired of all the draft talk. Rather than writing about a prospect, who, by this time next week, will likely be on another team, or focusing on a specific draft concern, I felt like exploring something else, or multiple somethings else. So this article is a medley of topics: the recently acquired WR Domenik Hixon, a brief look at the Panthers deep passing attack in 2012, and, not to leave the draftniks unsatisfied, a couple of prospects to whet your whistle. Starting with Hixon (6'2" 197 lbs.), formerly of the NY Giants, the 28 year old ama...

2013 NFL Off-season: Five potential breakout players for the New York Giants

Big Blue View — As teams around the NFL prepare for the 2013 season, the New York Giants have a lineup of players that are prepared to prove their worth. Here is a list of players that I think will possibly have breakout seasons in 2013. Rueben Randle Randle stood out in the last few weeks of the 2012 season, but with Domenik Hixon moving onto the Carolina Panthers, Randle's time to really shine will be in 2013. Randle has incredible athleticism and can be a perfect third down receiver with Eli Manning as his quarterback. Hakeem Nicks is returning from an injury-filled season and Victor Cruz is in c...

Panthers add WR Domenik Hixon

FFToolbox.com — The Panthers might have found their new No. 2 wide receiver today. They signed former Giant Domenik Hixon to a one-year deal. Contract terms have not yet been made available. Hixon, 28, has spent the majority of his career on special teams as a returner, but he has been called into duty as a wideout every now and then. Last season, after Hakeem Nicks was forced to miss some time with a foot injury, Hixon picked up the slack. His standout performance came in Week 4 as he caught six passes for 114 yards. He finished the year with 39 receptions in 13 games for 567 yards. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It's no...

Domenik Hixon agrees to deal with Panthers

Pride Of Detroit — The Detroit Lions are now officially not "in play" for wide receiver Domenik Hixon. That's because Hixon has agreed to a deal with the Carolina Panthers, the team that hosted him for a visit earlier this week. It's no surprise that Hixon has signed with a team other than the Lions. He reportedly held an offer from the Lions going back to the start of free agency, but Hixon "tabled" it in order to explore a "better opportunity." For him, that led to visits with the Oakland Raiders and Panthers, and he decided to sign with Carolina. More: Follow all of the Lions' free agency news Lions...
