Jones confident he can catch Pats’ drift

Boston Herald — FOXBORO — Donald Jones knows he has overcome way too much to let a premium opportunity in the Patriots offense pass him by. And he is surely aware enough to know plenty of wide receivers before him have been acquired and tossed aside for slipping with their work.

Donald Jones continues to hear about Vince Wilfork's bone-jarring hit from last season

The Point After | Boston Herald — Apparently, Donald Jones couldn't even take his first few steps into the building before a Patriots coach jokingly reminded him of Vince Wilfork's crushing hit from last season.Tough crowd, huh?Jones, who signed with the Pats this offseason, was on the wrong end of a Wilfork whack last year in Buffalo. Jones caught a receiver screen over the middle and had no idea then -- and still no idea now -- how Wilfork read it and forced Jones into taking a nice look at the clouds.

WR Jones excited for opportunity

New England Patriots Blog | ESPN Boston — FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Lost in the shuffle of the New England Patriots drafting two receivers last month, losing Wes Welker through free agency, and signing Danny Amendola to replace him were some lesser-known signings at wide receiver this offseason. Former Buffalo Bills pass-catcher Donald Jones was one of those additions, and is coming off his best season as a pro after going undrafted out of Youngstown State in 2010. Like Welker with the Miami Dolphins, Jones shined against his AFC East rival Patriots while with the Bills.

Bills' wide receiver makeover saves money, improves talent

Buffalo Rumblings — The Buffalo Bills were roundly criticized when they decided not to tender offers on restricted free agents Donald Jones and David Nelson earlier this off-season. Nelson, in particular, was seen as a big loss following a breakout season in 2011, when he grabbed 61 passes for 658 yards and five scores. Fast forward two months, and GM Buddy Nix has completely remade the wide receiver depth chart. He added second-round pick Robert Woods from USC and Texas third-rounder Marquise Goodwin in the 2013 NFL Draft, and followed that up by signing supremely talented but troubled wideout Da'Rick Ro...

T.J. Graham - T.J. Graham impressing

The Huddle — Buffalo Bills WR T.J. Graham has impressed the team early in mini-camps. With WRs Donald Jones and David Nelson gone, Graham has an opportunity to seize a prominent role. "I feel really good about T.J. Graham," said WR Stevie Johnson. "I have been watching him since he got here, but these past couple days he looks like a kid with something on his mind. Like as if he is trying to take over the team or take over this receiving corps. It is going to be fun competing with him and the rest of the guys in the room." NFL Draft: Receivers Lose, Patriots Win

Pats Pulpit — Fact: The Patriots need additional help at the wide receiver position. Danny Amendola will definitely see the majority of the snaps, while Julian Edelman and Donald Jones fight for snaps. There's still no definite #2 receiver on the team. Fact: The Patriots have been doing their due diligence and have been looking into plenty of top 50 talent at wide receiver. The team is absolutely interested. Probable: The Patriots will draft a receiver in the first two rounds. They can't afford not to. Of course, Bill Belichick is impossible to predict, but it's highly likely that one of the Patriot...

2013 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills looking for a starting wide receiver

Buffalo Rumblings — The Buffalo Bills' wide receiver corps will look much different in 2013. Gone are Donald Jones and David Nelson, two of Buffalo's top receivers for the last three seasons. With 2012 third-round selection T.J. Graham tenuously penciled in opposite Stevie Johnson, general manager Buddy Nix may opt to add a starter in this April's 2013 NFL Draft. "We're certainly looking at wide receiver," Nix said in December about the upcoming draft. Noting that Buffalo needed to add a franchise quarterback, too, he mentioned the Cincinnati Bengals' approach that earned them a playoff nod in two consecu...

Examining Pats' interest in Jennings

New England Patriots Blog | ESPN Boston — It's been a busy offseason for the Patriots at the wide receiver position, as Wes Welker has departed, Brandon Lloyd was released, Emmanuel Sanders came in for a restricted free agent visit, and the team signed both Danny Amendola and Donald Jones. We can add one more name that was on the Patriots' radar, as Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the team made an offer to former Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, who recently signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

  • Patriots Sign a Receiver: Thoughts on Donald Jones Signing
The New England Patriots have added another piece to their arsenal on offense, agreeing to a three year contract with former Bills wide receiver Donald Jones. Jones, 25, enjoyed his best season as a pro for the Bills in 2012. Jones played in 12 games, starting 10, and recorded 41 receptions for 443 yards and four touchdowns. He was targeted a total of 67 times. 25 of his 41 receptions also resulted in first down conversions. While his yard per catch numbers weren’t too impressive last season (10.8), he does have some speed in additional to a solid frame. At the combine in 2010, J...
  • Patriots Sign Former Bills WR Donald Jones
The New England Patriots' interest in Buffalo Bills' restricted free agent WR Donald Jones seemed to spike after he wasn't tendered an offer by GM Buddy Nix. But it was probably the "if you can't beat them, sign them" mindset the organization has permanently adopted that really brought this into fruition. The six-foot, 208-pound receiver who first came into the league as an undrafted free agent out of Youngstown State adds a sizable amount of speed and physicality to the outside. While spending three years with the Bills, Jones, 25, really came on last season, setting career-highs in j...
