Myers: Giants' Eli Manning hopes to be like retiring Yankees captain Derek Jeter

Eli may be the Mann for the Giants, but like a million others, he wants to be Just Like Jeter. Manning was Derek Jeter’s guest in the Yankee shortstop’s private box at Yankee Stadium nearly three months ago, and the Giants’ quarterback saw so much to admire in the retiring icon.

Eli Manning expects to play in preseason opener (Hall of Fame Game) vs. Bills

Manning and Coach Tom Coughlin think the Giants can use five preseason games to their advantage.

For Manning now, it's all about the feet

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- It's easy to say, after the worst season of his career, that New York Giants Eli Manning could stand to be "fixed," and that new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo and quarterbacks coach Danny Langsdorf are charged with that assignment. The Giants would dispute that, saying that the new offense and the coaches that come with it are here to "energize" Manning and tap into his natural excitement about learning new things. All of that said, some things about the way Manning has played his entire career will have to change in this new offense, and the most significant may...

Giants want QB Eli Manning to complete 70 percent of his passes

The Giants aren't expecting a just bounce-back year from quarterback Eli Manning. They are setting a goal for him that most NFL quarterbacks, including his brother, have never achieved: They want Manning's completion percentage to hit 70. "It hasn't been done very often, so that's the ultimate goal," quarterbacks coach Danny Langsdorf said Monday. "I think it's been done eight or nine times, maybe? That's an impressive statistic in the history of the league. So that's what we're gunning for, that 70 percent." FANTASY ANALYSIS: The exact count of quarterbacks who have completed 70 percent...

Practice report for 7/28: Eli goes deep, Hyno loses his hat & Cruz waves

It was almost as if Eli Manning was so concerned about defusing the idea that he will no longer throw deep passes in the new West Coast system that he purposely came out chucking it long on Monday. He took several vertical shots down the field, maybe more today than he has all of the previous practices combined.

Eli Manning expects to play Sunday night

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin hasn't decided yet who will play -- or how much they'll play -- in Sunday night's preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills in Canton, Ohio. Coughlin said after Monday's practice that he'd wait until after Thursday's practice to decide. But you can expect to see quarterback Eli Manning out there for at least the start of the game, even though it's an extra preseason game for the team this year.

Giants QB coach: Eli Manning pushing for 70 percent completion rate

Manning thinks the high-60s is doable. Do you?

When the two began working with each other, Manning said McAdoo pronounced “roll” like “wool.”

Eli at 70 percent? Don't count on it

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Look, I'm not saying he can and I'm not saying he can't. I have nothing but respect for Eli Manning's abilities and the things he can do. He can beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, and if you didn't believe that after the first time, he did it again for good measure. The New York Giants' quarterback is largely underrated and underappreciated, and he's perfectly capable of having a great season even though he's coming off his worst season.

Giants’ new regime sets ridiculously lofty goal for Eli

There’s no reason to set goals if they aren’t lofty, but is completing 70 percent of his passes reasonable for Eli Manning this season? It is remotely possible or at...

70 the new passing grade for Giants' Eli Manning

Eli Manning has been a lot of things for the Giants during his career. He's a two-time Super Bowl MVP. He's the franchise's all-time leader in touchdown passes, completions and passing yards. He has the second-most wins by any quarterback in the 90-year history of the organization.
