Bills running back Fred Jackson didn't play in Week 11, but that was a function of a cramped schedule more than anything else. Head coach Doug Marrone said after the loss to Miami that the four days in between Buffalo's two most recent games didn't give Jackson enough time to recover following his Week 10 return from a fairly serious groin injury. However, time is on Jackson's side this week. When the Bills kick off against the Jets on Monday night from Detroit, Jackson will have had 15 days to get his health in order. Marrone said Saturday that he expects Jackson to be on the field Monday,...

Jackson: rest may have been best

Bills RB Fred Jackson missed the Dolphins game after he aggravated his groin injury in the Tuesday practice prior to the Thursday night game. The benefit was he would get two full weeks to recover before he would play in a game again. Not even practicing on Wednesday and Thursday may have only helped all […]

Bryce Brown totals 71 yards versus Dolphins - Bryce Brown (RB) Buffalo Bills

Starting in place of Fred Jackson (groin), Bryce Brown rushed six times for 14 yards in Buffalo's Week 11 loss to the Dolphins, adding seven catches for 57 yards.

Why dressing Fred was too big a risk

We’re all familiar with Bills RB Fred Jackson will to play no matter what nagging injury he might be dealing with. But after aggravating his groin injury in last Sunday’s game against Kansas City it was simply too big a risk for Doug Marrone to dress Jackson for tonight’s game against the Dolphins. Here’s why. […]

Marrone: Jackson tweaked groin vs. Chiefs

Bills RB Fred Jackson was limited in practice this week and was listed as questionable for tonight’s game. In his weekly Coffee with the Coach segment presented by Tim Horton’s on Buffalobills.com, head coach Doug Marrone revealed that Jackson aggravated his groin injury in last Sunday’s game against Kansas City. “He tweaked that groin again […]

Fred Jackson out for Thursday night football

Groin injury Not able to take the field tonight, but I'll be cheering on as we defend the Blue & Red. (Fred Jackson via Twitter) FF Today's Take: Fred Jackson broke the news on his Twitter account. Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown will share running back duties with Brown being the best option in PPR leagues. Both are risky FLEX plays against a solid Miami defense.

Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) likely out for TNF; Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon to shoulder load

Tim Graham of the Buffalo News is reporting that it's looking less and less likely that lead running back Fred Jackson, still trying to shake of a groin injury, will play in the Bills Thursday night game at divisional rival Miami. With Jackson likely missing tonight's game, the running back duties will be handled by Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown. Jackson and Dixon have almost identical rushing numbers. They've both received 58 carries, with Jackson posting 249 yards and Dixon 243. Brown figures to play the role in the passing game that Jackson filled. The Bills and Dolphins are currently tied...

Fred Jackson could miss Thursday's game; fantasy value low

Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson has a "decent chance" of missing Thursday's game. There's a "decent chance" that Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson sits out Thursday's game against the Miami Dolphins, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network. Jackson has a groin injury that has been bothering him for weeks, though he did play in Buffalo's last game on Sunday.

Not looking good for Fred Jackson on TNF

Groin injury I'm told Bills RB Fred Jackson almost certainly won't play tonight because of groin injury. Recovery from Sunday has taken too long. (Tim Graham via Twitter) FF Today's Take: While nothing is official, it appears Jackson may be on the Inactive list tonight when the Bills visit the Dolphins. Jackson was limited last week against the Chiefs and hasn't had enough time to recover given the short week. Expect, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown to handle duties at running back position with Brown being the desired play in PPR leagues.

Watkins, Jackson are both active for Bills

Both dealing with groin injuries Fred Jackson and Sammy Watkins are ACTIVE. (Buffalo Bills via Twitter) FF Today's Take: Both Bills' players are dealing with groin injuries. I'd be leery of starting Jackson if you have other viable options at the running back position. I'd be more comfortable starting Watkins but either are 100 percent and represent considerable risk.
