Pride Of Detroit Around this time a year ago, Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best was going through the team's mandatory minicamp. The Lions were expecting Best to be cleared for contact in time for training camp, and they were expecting him to be a big part of their offense in 2012. Best never did end up getting cleared to return, and he missed the entire 2012 season as a result. With him still out from the concussion he suffered during the 2011 season, it seems unlikely that we will ever see Best play again in the NFL. His status has not changed, and just as was the case with the Lions' OTAs...

Pride Of Detroit The Detroit Lions continued their OTAs on Wednesday with another practice. Several players were unable to participate in the practice, but only safety Louis Delmas and running back Jahvid Best were completely absent, according to the Free Press. Why exactly is Delmas not attending the Lions' OTAs? It turns out he is still rehabbing his knees from injuries that forced him to miss half of the 2012 season. It's worth noting that OTAs are voluntary, and Jim Schwartz doesn't seem to have an issue with Delmas not being at the Lions' facility since he would simply be watching from the sidelin...

Pride Of Detroit Safety Louis Delmas and running back Jahvid Best were the only two Detroit Lions players completely absent from Wednesday's OTA. However, they weren't the only players unable to take part in it. Several others were actually in attendance but stuck watching from the sideline because of injuries. Quarterback Shaun Hill, running back Mikel Leshoure, wide receiver Ryan Broyles, defensive end Devin Taylor, linebacker Alex Elkins and cornerback Darius Slay were all out on Wednesday, according to Tim Twentyman. Knee injuries are to blame for why Delmas, Broyles and Slay were unable to partici...

Pride Of Detroit The chances of Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best ever playing in an NFL game again are slim. He's been out since Week 6 of the 2011 season because of a concussion, and after not being cleared to return in 2012, there's no reason to expect him to be cleared in 2013. The Lions have seemingly moved on by signing Reggie Bush, and to say the very least, it would be a shock if we ever see Best in a game again. While his chances of returning aren't great, Best isn't giving up on the idea that he will one day be back on the field. He recently told the Baltimore Sun's Matt Vensel this and ...

Detroit Lions February 19, 2013
Pride Of Detroit Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best hasn't played a down of football since Week 6 of the 2011 season because of a concussion. He was expected to be cleared to return last summer, but that never ended up happening. As a result, he missed the entire 2012 season, and the belief at this point is that he will never play football again. Best hasn't officially walked away from the game of football just yet, but Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson thinks he should. Rather than risk further damage that could have long-term effects, Burleson thinks the sensible thing for Best is to simply retir...
Detroit Lions February 19, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy The Lions official team website reports that the team could be interested in signing free agent running back Reggie Bush. The report says general manager Martin Mayhew won't be caught in the same situation again this year that he was last year when running back Jahvid Best couldn't get his clearance to return to contact. The Lions missed Best's ability to take advantage of one-on-one matchups in the passing game and his big-play ability as a runner. Bush has a very similar skillset. He's never caught less than 35 passes in a full season and had 88 his rookie year in 2006 with the New Orleans S...

Pride Of Detroit It's no secret that the Detroit Lions will be in the market for a speedy running back this offseason. With running back Jahvid Best not expected to play football again, there is a void in the offense. Lions general manager Martin Mayhew is well aware that he needs to fill that void, and one player who could get some consideration is Reggie Bush. Bush is set to become a free agent this offseason, and it's not looking like he will be re-signed by the Miami Dolphins. From CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora: Reggie Bush's ability to make explosive plays and contribute on special teams wi...
