Jared Allen: 'I know I give it my all'

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- As Chicago Bears defensive end Jared Allen approaches the end of what could be his first season since 2006 in which he didn’t record a sack total in the double digits, the veteran isn’t worried about the perception that he’s underachieved. While a source within the organization believes Allen is playing the run much better than he has in the past, the Chicago Bears paid the veteran $15.5 million fully guaranteed in a four-year deal back in March to sack quarterbacks.

Jared Allen: Lance Briggs is a Hall of Famer

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Lance Briggs’ NFL career likely isn’t over, but Bears defensive end Jared Allen believes the linebacker’s 12-year tenure in Chicago is worthy of the Hall of Fame. “In my book, I’d say so,” Allen said. “The guy’s done some incredible things. What is he, a seven-time Pro Bowler? If you look back at what the linebacker position has meant, and there's probably no bigger team or organization of the linebacker position where the linebacker position is more highlighted than the Bears.

Cowboys to get look at Jared Allen

IRVING, Texas -- Last March, the Dallas Cowboys had veteran defensive end Jared Allen in for a visit but the team was not willing to pay top dollar for a 32-year-old. The Cowboys get to see Allen on Thursday when they play the Chicago Bears. Allen ended up signing a four-year, $32 million deal with the Bears that voids to three. In the first two years of the deal Allen will earn $15.5 million guaranteed. Allen has played in 11 games and has 4.5 sacks with two coming against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Allen actually played well, recording his first multiple-sack performance of the season, but it wasn't at the expense of the rookie left tackle.

Stock Watch: Jared Allen picking up steam

RISING 1. Jared Allen: The Minnesota Vikings pulled the best out of Allen. The veteran defensive end played his most impactful game of the season versus his old team, abusing Vikings left tackle Matt Kalil the entire afternoon. Allen finished with five tackles, one sack and three quarterback hits in the Chicago Bears’ 21-13 victory. It’s been a frustrating year for Allen. He has sacked the quarterback only 2 1/2 times after having no fewer than 11 sacks in each of his last six years in Minnesota.
