Jared Allen expects boos when he returns to Minnesota

By Chris Tomasson ctomasson@pioneerpress.com Jared Allen spoke earlier this week about his respect for the Vikings. How much respect Minnesota fans give him next season remains to be seen. The defensive end recently signed with Chicago after six years with the Vikings. Whenever the Bears play next season at Minnesota, Allen isn’t expecting much of a welcome. “Minnesota has great fans so they’re going to boo me,” Allen said in an interview Wednesday with Pro Football Talk. “Absolutely. I’m sure I’ll get some cheers later but absolutely they’re going to boo and why s......

Chicago Bears defensive end Jared Allen expects to be booed in return to Minnesota

Jared Allen collected 85.5 sacks in six seasons with the Vikings. (Hannah Foslien/) Veteran defensive end Jared Allen signed with the Chicago Bears this offseason, which has to sting for fans of the Minnesota Vikings. Fan bases understand that the NFL is a business and players must eventually leave town, but it stings when a […]

Ratliff could be part of Bears' version of "Williams Wall"

New Bears defensive end Jared Allen knows how to take down opposing quarterbacks. He’s done so 128 ½ times over the past 10 seasons, the most of any player in football over that span.

Allen excited to work with Ratliff

A remark during the introductory press conference Monday at Hallas Hall for Jared Allen brought back a conversation from nearly a month ago regarding defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff. Back on March 5 when Ratliff re-signed with the Bears, an NFL assistant familiar with the defensive tackle's abilities called him "a soldier if healthy." Allen said pretty much the same thing Monday when asked what he liked about Chicago's defense. "One of the people that excites me the most is Jay Ratliff," Allen said.

No buyer's remorse for Emery

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Jared Allen easily passed the first test administered by Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery. Now it’s time Allen proves it on the field. Having worked against Allen for several years in Atlanta, Kansas City and Chicago, Emery said he’s seen plenty of game tape of the new Bears defensive end. But just before Emery came out on Monday to introduce Allen, he wanted to take one last look; a “buyer’s remorse check,” the general manager joked.

Turf, grass don't matter for Jared Allen

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Naturally, Jared Allen's last six seasons playing at least eight games on an artificial surface in Minnesota leads to trepidation about whether he can get it done on the natural grass at Soldier Field. General manager Phil Emery isn't worried. In fact, Emery barely blinked Monday once the topic was broached following Allen's introductory press conference. "I think I saw the stat that he's had 27 sacks in his last 28 games on turf (maybe he meant grass?

Jared Allen’s prowess, personality give Bears a huge boost

Jared Allen won the news conference — normally a hollow victory at Halas Hall, but not this time. ‘‘Just watch me play this year,’’ Allen said Monday when asked how much he has left in the tank. ‘‘I mean, I’m in great shape. I’m a full year off of surgery on my shoulder. Workouts are going phenomenal. I’m excited. I want to believe in what I’m playing for and who I’m playing for. That’s why I’m here. . . . I feel like I’m still the...
