Jared Cook already impressing new Saints teammates, coaches after first round of OTAs

After the first three days of OTAs, NFL teams are all about managing expectations. The hot-shot rookie wideout may not look that good once pads and looming safeties itching to tackle are added to the mix, while new offensive lineman…

Saints’ Sean Payton discusses early impressions of working with Jared Cook

The New Orleans Saints believe they may have found a pass-catching weapon at the tight end position that they’ve lacked since Jimmy Graham was traded to Seattle.  The Saints signed Jared Cook in free agency this offseason, with the 32-year old coming off arguably the best season of his career while in Oakland. Watch: Derek Carr tosses bomb to Antonio Brown in OTA practice

Watch: Derek Carr tosses bomb to Antonio Brown in OTA practice

Possibly the biggest criticism the Raiders offense and Derek Carr in particular faced from last season is the lack of long balls. Carr dinked and dunked his way through a 4-12 season, that much is true. There were certainly some instances he could have thrown the deep ball instead of checking it down, but there were even more instances where it just wasn’t there. The Raiders were a disaster at the tackle spots, leading to Carr being sacked 51 times. They also didn’t have much in the way of deep threat receivers. Their leading receiver was tight end Jared Cook and their top wide out was...

Oakland Raiders: Could Erik Swoope be the Raiders Next Jared Cook?

Standing at 6 foot 5 inches and 257 lbs. Erik Swoope is the exact same size as former Raiders tight end Jared Cook, but is that the only similarity? Erik Swoope is not what you would call a typical journeyman, having only played on two teams (now on his third) in his four-year career. Swoope […] Oakland Raiders: Could Erik Swoope be the Raiders Next Jared Cook? - Just Blog Baby - Just Blog Baby - An Oakland Raiders Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Raiders should be fantasy-friendly in 2019

Raiders should be fantasy-friendly in 2019

In 2018, the Raiders were the worst team to own players on for fantasy football purposes. Outside of Jared Cook, nobody on the team was a consistent fantasy performer. Even Derek Carr, whose value last year came from not throwing interceptions, was limited by a total lack of weapons. The Raiders also had a skeleton crew at running back and the worst defense in the league. This season, Oakland has the opposite situation. Cook is in New Orleans (where he should be a top fantasy option once again) but the Raiders should have an improved defense as well as an exciting rookie running back and...

Raiders Rookie Film Room: Foster Moreau a Lee Smith replacement?

Raiders Rookie Film Room: Foster Moreau a Lee Smith replacement?

An interesting position group going into the season will be tight end for the Raiders. Last year arguably the strength of the offense, Jared Cook was a pro bowler and Lee Smith a locker room leader and devastating blocker. Jared Cook left in free agency opening up a glaring void at the receiving tight end role in the Raiders offense. And yesterday it was announced that fan favorite Lee Smith was released from his contract with the team. The tight ends on the roster are now Darren Waller, Derek Carrier, Luke Willson, Paul Butler and newly drafted 4th round pick Foster Moreau out of LSU. The...

NFL Draft 2019: Immediate reactions, grades to Raiders selection of TE Foster Moreau

NFL Draft 2019: Immediate reactions, grades to Raiders selection of TE Foster Moreau

After moving around the board quite a bit, the Raiders finally got their tight end at late in the fourth round. Here is the Silver & Black Pride staff’s early thoughts on the selection. Tyler Green Moreau joins a deep tight end group that lost Jared Cook in free agency. While he does not add much in the receiving game, he is a solid blocker that understands pass protections and run schemes well. Moreau won’t be expected to be the Raiders number one tight end, but will rather be a second or third option that can block at a high level. But what Jon Gruden really needed was a pass catching...
