This season hurts

The Eagles have lost the battle of attrition The story of the 2017 Eagles is one of overcoming significant injuries to go on to win the Super Bowl. That team had relatively few injuries, they were just concentrated at key roles. The 11 personnel quintuple of Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, Torrey Smith and Zach Ertz missed all of 2 games, both by Ertz. The loss of Darren Sproles hurt, but LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement and Jay Ajayi missed only one game, and that was Ajayi being rested in Week 17. Seven defensive starters played in every meaningful game, two missed one game, and one...

A lack of a running game is hurting Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz could really use a running back worth a darn to help him out. On their way to the Super Bowl last year, the Philadelphia Eagles rushed for 2,115 yards as a team, 3rd-most in the NFL. Their 3,737 passing yards were 13th-most. So yeah, the Eagles ran the ball a lot last year, and they were really good at it. Losing Darren Sproles early in the season hurt, but the trio of LeGarrette Blount (766 yards, 4.4 Y/A), Jay Ajayi (408 yards, 5.8 Y/A), and Corey Clement (321 yards, 4.3 Y/A) combined for 1,495 yards on the ground and an average of 4.7 yards per attempt. There were two games...

Will Josh Adams get more carries moving forward?

The Philadelphia Eagles have yet, to establish a run game in 2018. Is it finally time for the team to start feeding Josh Adams? Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles had a backfield full of hungry players who were willing to work as much as possible, while also sharing the carries. LeGarrette Blount, Jay Ajayi, Corey […] Will Josh Adams get more carries moving forward? - Inside the Iggles - Inside the Iggles - A Philadelphia Eagles Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Eagles’ Darren Sproles expected to miss ‘multiple weeks’

The Philadelphia Eagles have been anticipating the return of Darren Sproles, but he suffered a setback at practice that will prolong his absence. Jay Ajayi was the team’s primary running back, but he’s out for the season while he recovers from an ACL tear. The Eagles were considered to be one of the favorites to […] The post Eagles’ Darren Sproles expected to miss ‘multiple weeks’ appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Eagles lead all time series with Panthers 7-3

Eagles lead all time series with Panthers 7-3

The NFL capsule for this game shows a fairly even matchup. While the defending champions are still a tough matchup any week they do not appear to be as strong as last season on either side of the ball. The running game lacks a number one running back with the loss of Jay Ajayi. Ajayi wasn’t tearing it up anyway. He ended his season with 184 yards on 43 carries. It’s not a bad average per carry (4.1 yards) but they typically found themselves behind early and therefore abandoned the running game. When I look at the Pro Football Focus grades for their defense I see their...
