Will Travis Kelce or Jeremy Maclin lead the Kansas City Chiefs in receiving?

This can double as a fantasy football question... We talked yesterday about one of the most popular position battles for the Kansas City Chiefs: No. 2 receiver. However, there's another intriguing question about the Chiefs pass catchers. Who will be the leading receiver? I'm not just talking about those who have a WR in front of their name. I'm talking about who will lead the Chiefs in receiving yards, including tight ends and running backs. On the surface, you would quickly think of Jeremy Maclin, who had 1,300 yards in Philly last year. He's coming in familiar with the offense and has the...

Arrowheadlines: Kansas City Chiefs News 6/20

Good morning! Here is your Kansas City Chiefs news from across the internet. A quick note. I starting vacation tomorrow and will be back here on Tuesday 6/30. Thanks in advance to Joel for covering. Have a great weekend. 10 Things We Learned From Offseason Workouts from The Mothership Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and QB Alex Smith have done as much as they have possibly could to get in sync, and they have agreed that they are. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was brought in from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason to be the Chiefs' new No. 1 receiving target on offense. What that means is...

Chiefs' Travis Kelce looking to take next step

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After a breakout year in 2014, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce wants more. More of the ball, that is. And the Chiefs have been giving him his wish. During organized team activities, which wrapped up Thursday, Kelce often became quarterback Alex Smith’s first choice. Even with the addition of Jeremy Maclin, that’s not all that surprising — considering Kelce led the Chiefs with 67 catches for 862 yards and five touchdowns last season. read more

Chiefs' Jeremy Maclin says he's off to a great start with Alex Smith

This is a very, very "offseason post" for us. Player X says he's developed a nice chemistry with Player Y. Player X would be Jeremy Maclin and Player Y would be Alex Smith. The Chiefs are supposed to be looking good when they're playing in shorts but Maclin told the media on Tuesday that he's off to a "great start" with Alex Smith, who he described as smart and someone who could make all the throws. (I am still waiting for the first person to say that they're not off to a great start and that their quarterback isn't very smart.) Maclin, a six-year veteran, said he has hooked up with Alex in...

Jamaal Charles, Andy Reid exchanges jokes at each other's expense

Jamaal Charles was roasted this weekend in his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. It was really an acknowledgement of what a great person he has become and player he has been for Texas and the Kansas City Chiefs. The roast had an A-list attendance including Andy Reid, Wade Phillips, Vince Young, Travis Kelce, Jeremy Maclin, Dontari Poe and Anthony Sherman among others. The KC Star's Vahe Gregorian was in attendance so go read his recap here. Two of the best jokes I read were... Andy on Jamaal's Michael Jackson suit Reid says can't talk about Charles' hair/might offend lady who prepared it...

Kansas City Chiefs are still shaky at receiver if someone gets injured

The Kansas City Chiefs added to their receiver group this offseason but they could still do more. That's what I'm thinking after reading this from ESPN's Adam Teicher last week: With Jeremy Maclin and Albert Wilson injured, starting WRs for #Chiefs today were Frankie Hammond Jr. and rookie Chris Conley — Adam Teicher (@adamteicher) June 10, 2015 While neither injury was serious, it highlights the potential depth issues the Chiefs have at the position. No team would be able to fully recover from losing their top two receivers but the Chiefs potentially couldn't recover after losing just...

Arrowheadlines: Kansas City Chiefs News 6/13

Good morning! Here is today's Kansas City Chiefs news. Chiefs OTA Observations 6/12: Day Ten from The Mothership There were a number of great plays made by the offense on Friday, and things got started early in 9-on-7 when Alex Smith hit Jeremy Maclin deep down the right sideline for what would have been a touchdown on the very first play. Maclin went vertical and was able to get past cornerback Phillip Gaines and Smith hit him perfectly in stride deep down the field. A few plays later, Smith hit tight end Travis Kelce on a crossing route that was perfectly placed in a window between...

Jeremy Maclin leads new-look Chiefs wide receiver corps

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When David Culley first got to know Jeremy Maclin, the young wide receiver was just another rookie fresh out of Missouri trying to learn his way in the pressure-cooker NFL. When they reunited this past offseason, everything had changed. For one thing, Culley is the wide receivers coach in Kansas City these days. And Maclin is a veteran who made such a strong impression on Culley and coach Andy Reid during their days in Philadelphia that they snapped him up as a free agent this past offseason. read more

Jeremy Maclin misses Kansas City Chiefs practice but no reason to panic

Jeremy Maclin missed practice but it doesn't appear to be a serious thing. Per BJ Kissel, Maclin's foot was inflamed. Jeremy Maclin did not practice (foot inflammation). He's day to day. #Chiefs — BJ Kissel (@ChiefsReporter) June 10, 2015 Day to day in the middle of June does not seem like a big deal. The Chiefs have two more practices on Thursday and Friday and then return for a three-day minicamp next week so there is time for him to return and get some more work in before training camp starts.

Eagles News: Chip Kelly is very optimistic about Sam Bradford's return

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/10/2015. Let's get to the links... Eagles rookie player comparisons: Nelson Agholor edition - PhillyVoiceA number of you have asked what players the Eagles rookies remind me of so far. We're only a few practices into OTAs at this point in the offseason, and the Eagles haven't run enough team drills to really get a great in-person sense of what they'll be as pros. However, I do have some initial thoughts on players comps. We'll start with Nelson Agholor. Many people compared Agholor to Jeremy Maclin and Reggie Wayne, but the comparison I like the best...
