The Eagles lost Jeremy Maclin in March, leaving a major hole at wide receiver. On Thursday night, they tried filling it with Southern California's Nelson Agholor - a player who is compared to Maclin. He becomes the first wide receiver the Eagles selected in the first round since Maclin in 2009.

If Maclin does reach that goal, it will be proof of A, B, and C narratives; if he doesn't, the X, Y, and Z narratives will gain credibility instead. Fill in the variables as you please. Blah blah blah. While I think yardage totals are over-hyped, the underlying questions are important, and the 1,000 yard benchmark is a kind of signal of everything else going on.
