These new NFL power rankings say the KC Chiefs remain a top 5 team

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the five best teams in football, according to the updated NFL power rankings from Chris Simms of Bleacher Report. We’ve been over here in Kansas City worried about the Chiefs offseason. The firing of John Dorsey. The cutting of Jeremy Maclin. The other front office departures. All that stuff. It feels like the Chiefs are headed in the wrong direction. And then you go look at the roster and the coach and you realize they’re still going to be very competitive this season. I’m not sure they got over the hump but the other offseason stuff won’t stop...

Reactions on the Buffalo Bills signing Anquan Boldin

Reactions on the Buffalo Bills signing Anquan Boldin

Is a wide receiver in his late thirties ever the answer? If he can catch eight touchdown passes again, he might be. As you may have heard, the Buffalo Bills added a big name today in veteran wideout Anquan Boldin. It’s hard to call any early-August signing a game-changer, especially when it’s a wide receiver who turns 37 years old in the middle of the upcoming season, but Boldin is a significant improvement to the roster. He might not be able to bring what Jeremy Maclin could have brought to the team, but even at his relatively advanced age he caught 67 passes for 584 yards and eight...

Tyreek Hill over / under 75 catches this year

Tyreek Hill over / under 75 catches this year

The KC Star’s Terez Paylor put out a prediction for KC Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill this year: 75 catches as a receiver. That would certainly qualify him as a full time receiver and not the part receiver, part return guy, part gadget guy that he was last year. He had 61 receptions last year so 75 actually isn’t that big of a jump up. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tyreek had more receptions than that. That doesn’t feel like I’m hyping him up too much, especially after they lost Jeremy Maclin. If Tyreek is healthy, five catches a game is 80 receptions for the year. The Chiefs are...

Brett Veach brings new veteran emphasis to player acquisition

The Kansas City Chiefs seem to have a stronger focus on veteran acquisitions with Brett Veach at the helm as general manager. You have to wonder whether Jeremy Maclin or Jaye Howard would have ever received their pink slip if Brett Veach had been given the keys just a bit earlier. Andy Reid says Jeremy Maclin was a great teacher for the Chiefs WRs

Andy Reid says Jeremy Maclin was a great teacher for the Chiefs WRs

Sometimes you can tell what Andy Reid is thinking by what he says. Crazy, right? What I mean is that Reid will drop little hints that tells you how he really feels about something because, publicly, he’s pretty even-keeled. He doesn’t give up too much. This came up on Tuesday with this quote from Reid when asked about the Chiefs receivers. “They’ve done a good job,” Reid said. “It looks like they’re on the same page with the quarterbacks. That’s how I evaluated it today. They’re working hard. Jeremy (Maclin) was a great teacher for them. Understand how you practice, how...

Andy Reid gives Jeremy Maclin credit for leadership of young wide receivers

The Kansas City Chiefs have a young stable of wide receivers, but Andy Reid gave former Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin credit for leading them well. It’s a largely untested group with several developmental players, and there’s not […] Andy Reid gives Jeremy Maclin credit for leadership of young wide receivers - Arrowhead Addict - Arrowhead Addict - Kansas City Chiefs - KC Chiefs News, Schedule, Roster and Rumors

Examining the theories that the Kansas City Chiefs will regress in 2017

Examining the theories that the Kansas City Chiefs will regress in 2017

In Episode 5 of the podcast, I examine all the (many) theories as to why the Kansas City Chiefs are doomed for a regression in 2017. This has become a very common theme among certain national outlets, opposing teams' fans, and even some Chiefs fans. Such theories include: Alex Smith A mediocre offense The run defense Strength of schedule Lack of playmakers Pass rush issues Cornerback starters and depth The departure of Dontari Poe and Jeremy Maclin John Dorsey's firing Obviously, anything can happen in the NFL, but I decided it was time to see if the theories people have for believing...

Kansas City Chiefs breakout candidates include these 4 names

Kansas City Chiefs breakout candidates include these 4 names

New stars break out of the woodwork each year in the NFL. We’ve seen it in recent years with the Kansas City Chiefs, especially in the case of Tyreek Hill and Marcus Peters, and before them, Travis Kelce. Before they are stars, all they can call themselves are players with potential. So, with that said, here are some Chiefs I feel could be on the verge of a breakout season: WR Chris Conley If Hill is the proverbial “guy we know can do it,” doesn’t that make Chris Conley the “guy we think can do it?” With Jeremy Maclin no longer on the team, he will have to. Entering his third...
