Cutting Jeremy Maclin is an Awful Idea

Cutting Jeremy Maclin is an Awful Idea

So every now and then I hear a take that’s so scalding hot that I can’t help but comment on it immediately. In those situations, I rarely have time to write some kind of captivating (or even coherent) introduction. Today is one of those times, so I’ll just say it: Getting rid of Jeremy Maclin is a bad idea, and you should feel bad if that’s your idea. “But MN, he barely had more than 500 yards receiving this year!” Uh huh. “But MN, he’s not fast like he used to be! He’s a possession guy only now!” Hmmmm. “Seriously, MN, he’s just not dynamic!” Oh. Look... I don’t...

No, the Chiefs shouldn’t sign Victor Cruz

The New York Giants released WR Victor Cruz today. Since it’s a slow news day, this means a lot of Chiefs fans are seeing Cruz’s release and thinking the Chiefs should sign him. Nah, they shouldn’t sign him. He has a name that many recognize so I’m sure that’s where it’s coming from but this doesn’t make much sense when you start to look into the details. Cruz put up numbers pretty similar to Chris Conley - 39 catches for 586 yards compared to 44 catches for 530 yards from Conley last season. With Travis Kelce, Jeremy Maclin and Tyreek Hill your first three options, you’re...

Chiefs high on Tyreek Hill's potential

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid mentioned wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the same breath as DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, whom Reid previously coached. What It Means: Although Hill will never be a traditional wideout or tailback, Reid sounds very open to promoting Hill into the starting lineup as a sophomore. He would probably play slot receiver in addition to his gadget-play touches. "We’re asking him to do some running back and we’re asking him to do some wide receiver so you’ve got to know those things and put yourself in a position where you can be a starter as a...

Mel Kiper’s first mock draft has Chiefs going receiver

Mel Kiper’s first 2017 NFL mock draft is here and he has the Kansas City Chiefs taking WR Corey Davis out of Central Michigan. He was highly productive at Western Michigan with 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns last season. Do the Chiefs need another receiver? My first reaction was probably not with Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and Jeremy Maclin. But Maclin won’t be around forever and more playmakers can’t be a bad thing. “Davis was one of the most productive wideouts in the country during his career at Western Michigan, catching 331 passes for 5,278 yards and 52 touchdowns,” Kiper...
