Chiefs new WR Mitch Mathews is very long

Mitch Mathews is an undrafted free agent receiver out of Andy Reid's favorite school, BYU. He is listed at 6'6 which is very tall and judging by this picture from the KC Star he is also very long. #Chiefs rookie WR Mitch Matthews (BYU) made a lunging one-handed catch during drills Tuesday at team OTA’s. @KCStar pic.twitter.com/gmcVO1qSeW — David Eulitt (@davidphotokc) May 24, 2016 When I think of an Andy Reid receiver, I think of someone maybe a little shorter and very fast and quick. Someone like Jeremy Maclin. Mathews is not in that mold but his size can be a benefit for the...

Michael Crabtree: 'Who would have thought that Jeremy Maclin would be a fit for Alex Smith'

Neither player is with the 49ers anymore, but I still found this interesting. NFL Network has begun their countdown of the Top 100 players, which is voted on by some unknown number of players, and has never really made a ton of sense. That being said, it always provides for some interesting discussion fodder. The show released the first ten on the list Wednesday evening. The San Francisco 49ers are not represented, but we did get a couple ex-49ers mentioned. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin came in at No. 93. In the accompanying video, Michael Crabtree was one of the players...

Michael Crabtree: Who would've thought Jeremy Maclin would be a good fit with Alex Smith?

When Alex Smith came to the Kansas City Chiefs we pointed out Michael Crabtree's stats as evidence that Smith doesn't throw to receivers enough. That's why we were somewhat surprised to see the Chiefs drop $55 million on Jeremy Maclin. One year later, it's clear that Maclin deal was money well spent after the Chiefs WR had a really good season with Alex Smith: 87 receptions, 1,088 yards, eight touchdowns. For those numbers, Maclin was voted the 93rd best player on NFL Network's top 100 players countdown which was voted on by players. It was also funny hearing this comment from Crabtree in...

Former Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin named to NFL Top 100 players list

The former Eagles receiver found success in Kansas City. The NFL Network began their annual offseason series of the top 100 football players on Wednesday evening. There weren't any Philadelphia Eagles players in the first set of 10 players revealed from No. 100 to No. 90, but there was one former Eagles player ... Jeremy Maclin. The former Eagles pass catcher finished at No. 93 overall. In 2015, Maclin had 87 receptions for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. Maclin's first score of the season snapped an 18-game streak where the Chiefs had suffered without one of their wide receivers catching...

Peter King mocks WR Laquon Treadwell to Chiefs, too

We wrote a piece earlier highlighting Cris Collinsworth's pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft: Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell. I hadn't seen his name mocked to the Chiefs often so I was intrigued. Now a little more intrigue as Peter King's mock draft also sends Treadwell to the Chiefs with King saying he would be a good complement to Jeremy Maclin. This would mean that the Chiefs are passing on West Virginia safety Karl Joseph in this mock draft. Hmm ... as noted before, I am interested. I haven't considered enough to have a strong opinion either way but one of the Chiefs...
