Could Gresham break out further?

CBSSports.com Fantasy — CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora believes the addition of tight end Tyler Eifert won't impact teammate Jermaine Gresham at all. In fact, he calls Gresham one of his breakout candidates for 2013. La Canfora cites Gresham's athleticism and ability as positives and thinks Eifert's arrival might make Gresham work a little harder to play well and land a rich contract after the 2014 season.

Jermaine Gresham On CBS Sports' 2013 Breakout List

Cincy Jungle — Few players are as divisive amongst Bengals fans as tight end Jermaine Gresham. There have been high hopes for the big man out of Oklahoma since he arrived via the first round of the draft in 2010. He has put up some solid numbers in his time in Cincinnati and received Pro Bowl alternate recognition, but we've all wanted to see more out of him. Unfortunately for Gresham, the lasting impression he has left with the fan base is the sour taste of his terrible performance as the team's offensive game plan in their playoff game against the Houston Texans. It also doesn't help that he came o...

Eifert 'probably' in Bengals' base package

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden basically admitted rookie tight end Tyler Eifert will see a ton of playing time this season, less than two weeks since calling Jermaine Gresham the team's starter and Eifert a backup. "It's just that our base package will probably feature more two tight ends, two receivers rather than one tight end two backs," Gruden told the National Football Post. "We can get everything in our running game in that personnel group. It's taking out a fullback and putting in a heck of a pass catcher and hopefully a good blocker. We like to mix up our personnel groupings ...

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert lining up here, there and everywhere

FFToolbox.com — The Bengals showed they are not above being trendy by spending a first round pick on Notre Dame Tyler Eifert despite already having Jermaine Gresham on the roster. Now comes the matter of implementing effective two-TE sets. During the team's mini-camp, just like he was with the Golden Domers, Eifert is lining up just about all over the field. "A lot of the things I'm learning are a lot of the same plays we had in with two tight ends mdash; move me around in different positions," Eifert said on Friday. "Today I was out in the slot quite a bit. I think I'm picking it up pretty fast." FANTASY ...

Bengals offensive coordinator “We are not the Patriots”

Patriots Gab — Comparisons to the New England Patriots began to rain down on the Cincinnati Bengals when they drafted Tight End Tyler Eifert from Notre Dame to play with Jermaine Gresham.  “We’re not the Patriots,” Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden says. “We’re the Bengals and we’re going to do what we do with our players.” The Bengals ran [...]

2013 NFL Draft: Tyler Eifert Scooped Up by Bengals

FFChamps.com — The Cincinnati Bengals grabbed the best tight end in the 2013 draft in Tyler Eifert despite the presence of Jermaine Gresham on their roster.Fantasy Spin:Eifert has excellent size at 6-foot-5 and plays like a big receiver. He's particularly adept at winning jump-ball situations. He should be valuable in the red zone, but his overall fantasy value will be limited as the third or fourth option for quarterback Andy Dalton.

Gresham still considered starter

CBSSports.com Fantasy — With the addition of rookie Tyler Eifert there is some concern that fellow tight end Jermaine Gresham could see a dip in playing time and thus a drop in targets and stats. It's possible, though Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden seems to still favor the veteran. "I don't think Jermaine has a lot to worry about; Jermaine’s our starting tight end," Gruden said. "And Tyler’s going to come in here and add another element with the two tight end package or three tight end package, what have you and be a good solid backup for us and be a steady player for a lot of years here. He’s a great playe...

SB Nation Draft Grades: Bengals Get B+ For Tyler Eifert Selection

Cincy Jungle — SB Nation's Dan Kadar went through the first round of the NFL Draft and graded each team's performance. According to him, the Bengals earned a B+, which was the second best in the division. Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame By adding Eifert, the Bengals will have some dangerous two tight end sets with Jermaine Gresham on the field. Eifert is a good weapon that will help the development of Andy Dalton. He'll be a factor in the red zone and can split out wide. Grade: B+ Eifert isn't as much of a replacement for Gresham as he is another weapon for Andy Dalton. With the way...

Bengals bolster offense with Tyler Eifert, Falcons take Desmond Trufant

It Is What It Is | WEEI — The Bengals took their second first-round tight end in four years when they drafted Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert to team with Jermaine Gresham, their first-round pick from 2010. The Falcons, who were looking for a long-term replacement for Tony Gonzalez and probably would have been in on Eifert, traded up from No. 30 to No. [...]

Bengals draft TE Tyler Eifert

FFToolbox.com — The Bengals used a first-round pick on a tight end for the second time in four years Thursday. Cincinnati spent the No. 21 selection on Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert. The Bengals already have Jermaine Gresham, the 21st pick from the 2010 draft, who has gone to the past two Pro Bowls. But the Bengals needed to add more firepower to their offense. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Granted, I didn't think they would add to that offense with another tight end. However, it's working out really well for the Patriots. In Cincinnati, Gresham can be the in-line tight end while Eifert lines up all over the formatio...

2013 NFL Draft: Vikings Take Three Players Between 23 And 29; Smith, Te'o Still Available

Stampede Blue — Bengals No. 21 pick - TE Tyler Eifert (Notre Dame) The Bengals have lost two consecutive years to the Texans in the Wild Card Round, and it was mostly because they couldn't generate any Offense consistently. By adding a playmaker in Eifert, it'll help free up A.J. Green and TE Jermaine Gresham to generate more points. Eifert can catch, run, and block, a complete TE. His 2012 numbers weren't good mostly because teams normally doubled him. Alabama had #9 overall pick Dee Milliner lined up on him in the BCS Title game. That's pretty high praise. Falcons No. 22 pick (from WAS via STL) - CB Desmond...

Poll: What Position Will The Bengals Address In The First Round?

Cincy Jungle — If you've payed attention to the billion mock drafts that we've published since the end of the season, you know that the Benglas aren't locked in to picking one particular player or position like they have been the last few years. We knew the Bengals were going to draft a cornerback and guard in 2012, A.J. Green in 2011 and we figured it would be Jermaine Gresham in 2010. This year, it could be a safety, a running back, an offensive tackle, a cornerback, a defensive end or a linebacker. Hell, they could trade back or take a punter for all we know (they won't). This is a good thing. Th...

Jay Gruden: 'We Need Another Playmaker'

Cincy Jungle — The Bengals have several playmakers on the roster. A.J. Green is one of the best wide receivers in the league while guys like Jermaine Gresham, Andrew Hawkins and even BenJarvus Green-Ellis have the potential to take it to the house. According to Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, they still need another playmaker and they'll be looking for one more in the upcoming draft. "It's hard to put your finger on one thing. I think we need another playmaker. We need somebody who can take the ball 80 yards on a swing pass or a handoff or what have you - a little bit of speed. But we're p...

2013 NFL Draft: Should Bengals Use A High Pick On Tight End?

Cincy Jungle — Most would agree that tight end would likely not be on the "Bengals 2013 Roster Needs List". With Jermaine Gresham coming off of back-to-back Pro Bowls and the team using a 2012 fourth round selection on Orson Charles, the position group seems to have a pretty bright future. Still, both of those players had their share of disappointments in 2012. Gresham struggled with consistency issues and graded low with ProFootballFocus in the area of blocking throughout the season, despite his making the Pro Bowl once again as an alternate. Charles flashed athleticism and good hands, but the staff...

FLASHBACK: Geno Atkins Surprised The Bengals Drafted Him

Cincy Jungle — The Cincinnati Bengals found themselves a gem during the 2010 NFL Draft. After selecting tight end Jermaine Gresham, defensive end Carlos Dunlap, wide receiver Jordan Shipley and cornerback Brandon Ghee, the Cincinnati Bengals selected an undersized defensive tackle in the fourth round from Georgia. Predraft comments in 2010 listed Geno Atkins as short that needs bulk; though most of the comments were nothing short of cut and paste generalities this time of year. Here's the odd thing. Cincinnati knew all they needed about Atkins without speaking with him or inviting him for a predraft...

Signed In 2013: Jermaine Gresham, Orson CharlesFree Agent: Richard Quinn Jermaine Gresham, once described as "unquestionably the best tight end" entering the 2010 NFL draft with a hulking stature at 6'5" and 250 pounds, is on the rise. No, really. Each year he's steadily improved his mainstream numbers, reaching a career-high 64 receptions for 737 yards receiving and five touchdowns, second-highest in his career. Gresham caught 68.1 percent of the passes that Andy Dalton targeted (which doesn't account for overthrows, underthrows or otherwise crappy throws), also a career-high. But hea...
