Previewing the Houston Texans for Sunday's game against the Ravens

Stopping the run and containing J.J. Watt are big keys for the Ravens this Sunday. With Baltimore heading to Houston, Ravens fans have quite a lot to be excited about. Thad Lewis or Case Keenum will be starting for the Texans after the unfortunate news of Ryan Fitzpatrick out for the year with a broken leg. Ravens fans may catch a break as a couple swings in the AFC matchups this week may guarantee a Baltimore post-season birth. But let us instead focus on the game in Houston. The big names for the Texans come to the forefront as MVP candidate J.J. Watt is looking towards squandering...

Watt – or, more specifically, an animated approximation — made a brief animated appearance Wednesday during the season’s final episode of “South Park.” Titled “#HappyHolograms,” the episode fused parodies of several points of mockery during the show’s recent 10-episode run, including the Washington Redskins trademark dispute, cable customer service agents, the […]

Gene Frenette: J.J. Watt can pick his spots to disrupt offense

By midway through the second quarter, after Houston Texans defensive terrorist J.J. Watt had sampled the Jaguars’ offensive line menu to see what looked best to feast on, he figured out where the enemy was most vulnerable. Pity Sam Young, the Jaguars’ stop-gap at right tackle. It was such an unfair matchup from the outset, like sending a tomato can into the ring to try to neutralize Mike Tyson. read more

Big Texans DE J.J. Watt also has big personality

When NFL Films wired Houston defensive end J.J. Watt for the Texans’ game against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday, he didn’t disappoint. He scored a touchdown on a 1-yard catch, forced a fumble (recovered it and ran 11 yards), had two sacks and six quarterback hits and knocked rookie Zach Mettenberger out of the game as the Texans won 45-21. And what Watt had to say on the sidelines was colorful. When “Inside the NFL” showed the highlights, an NFL Films producer called it “the greatest since Tim Tebow [was wired].” read more
