Bengals’ run game struggles continue

Bengals’ run game struggles continue

Photo by Andy Lyons/ Despite the win, the running game is in a serious rut. The Cincinnati Bengals knocked off the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night, 27-15. With a decent game from Joe Burrow, and a solid game from this defensive unit, one thing however did not take a step forward; the running game. On the night, the Bengals ran for 69 yards on 28 carries (24 carries by Joe Mixon), and a touchdown. The big number however is the yards per carry average, which ended the night at an abysmal 2.5 yards per attempt. Now the big question becomes; how do they turn this...

4 things we learned from the Bengals’ encouraging win over the Dolphins

4 things we learned from the Bengals’ encouraging win over the Dolphins

Photo by Andy Lyons/ Joe Burrow may finally have some real protection. The Cincinnati Bengals are slowly getting back to their AFC championship form. Their 27-15 victory over the 3-0 Miami Dolphins last night was a big step forward and a sign that they can play with anyone. Sure, there are some issues that haven’t gone away, like Joe Mixon’s struggles in the running game and a little bit of Joe Burrow’s rust still lingering. But there were some really encouraging things as well, so let’s get right to what we learned about the team from the game: The o-line is...

Will we see more of Samaje Perine against the Dolphins?

Will we see more of Samaje Perine against the Dolphins?

Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK The veteran running back has certainly done enough to earn more carries. Samaje Perine runs hard. He hits holes without hesitation. He’s more than capable in pass blocking. And he looks fully healthy. It is for those reasons that I’m about to argue that right now he deserves to be taking away carries from the supremely talented, exceedingly charismatic Joe Mixon. First, let’s take a look at what Perine was able to do against the New York Jets in the fourth quarter, when the opponent knew the Bengals were trying to run...

Photo by Michael Reaves/ Joe Mixon, Jaylen Waddle, Tua Tagovailoa and La’el Collins all popped up on the simulated injury report. When it comes to Thursday Night Football games, the two participating teams typically don’t practice Monday but do release a simulated injury report. That’s what the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins did today, and it’s a lengthy one. For Cincinnati, La’el Collins (back), D.J. Reader (knee) and Drew Sample (knee) got DNPs. Collins played in Week 3 amid his back issue, so for now, look for him to play this week. Sample is out...

The 5 biggest issues with the Bengals’ offense

The 5 biggest issues with the Bengals’ offense

Set Number: X164165 TK1 The list could’ve been a lot longer. The Bengals’ offense continues to disappoint. And by “continues,” I don’t mean for the second week in a row. I mean for the second year in a row. Cincinnati is home to a top-five quarterback (Joe Burrow), a top-five wide receiver (Ja’Marr Chase), a top-ten receiver (Tee Higgins), a top-twenty-five receiver (Tyler Boyd), and a top-ten running back (Joe Mixon). But things have not come easy for the offense. The 2021-22 regular season was saved by timely homeruns, mostly Burrow to Chase. The 2022...
