Josh Morgan will play receiver with Bears’ first teamers

Wide receiver Josh Morgan is finally emerging from catch-up mode after joining the Bears’ offense in the offseason. And just in time. The five-year veteran has what could be a career-saving opportunity when he plays with the first-team offense in the marquee game of the preseason Friday night against the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks at CenturyLink Field. “I look at it every day like that,” Morgan said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’m...

Morgan to receive first shot at No. 3 WR job

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Veteran Josh Morgan receives his turn on the No. 3 receiver carousel Friday when the Chicago Bears face the Seattle Seahawks on the road for preseason game No. 3, according to Bears coach Marc Trestman. "It's still wide open," Trestman said of the club's search for a No. 3 receiver. "In terms of how we're doing it, Josh Morgan will get some work this week. We'll see where the other guys are as we move through the end of the week, but Josh will get the first shot at it as we work into this week's practice and as we work into the game.

Trestman: Morgan the 'next man up' at WR - Josh Morgan (WR) Chicago Bears

Speaking Monday, Bears coach Marc Trestman called Josh Morgan the next man up at No. 3 receiver.

Morgan says he's similar to Anquan Boldin

Second-year veteran Marquess Wilson seemed a lock to win the No. 3 receiver job until suffering a broken collarbone. Now the Chicago Bears turn their attention to some of the other reserves as potential replacements for Wilson, and veteran Josh Morgan believes he's perfectly capable of doing the job. In fact, Morgan compares his game to San Francisco's Anquan Boldin. “I contribute majorly in the blocking game. I catch everything that's thrown my way, or try to,” Morgan said.
