The power rankings agree: The Falcons are better now

Everything is going to be okay, power rankings say. The Falcons lost Devonta Freeman, possibly for the season. We still aren’t certain if Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu will be able to suit up this week. Matt Bryant is hurt. The team already has lost Deion Jones, Keanu Neal, Ricardo Allen and Andy Levitre for either most or all of the season. But the power rankings don’t care about. The power rankings care if you win. And the Falcons won. Barely, yes, and with plenty of questions still to answer. But they won, and the gods of the power rankings smile. Oh, how they smile. Let us see...

Falcons 34 - Buccaneers 29 final score: Atlanta escapes with a needed victory

Falcons 34 - Buccaneers 29 final score: Atlanta escapes with a needed victory

Despite several scares, the Falcons stay alive for one more week. Atlanta came into this game desperate for a win, if we’re being honest. They needed a win to stay alive and to prove that they were not an absolute mess minus Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones, Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen, among others. In fits and starts, the Falcons traveled that path. Mike Smith’s Buccaneers defense wasn’t good enough to stop Atlanta, and yet they did often enough that the Falcons couldn’t run away with this one. The defense came up with a couple of stops and actually got some pressure on Jameis...

Blame game won’t fix Falcons as season slips away

Blame game won’t fix Falcons as season slips away

Things look cooked, but that’s not all within the team’s control. The Atlanta Falcons have fallen to 1-4. As Falcons Twitter maven Evan Birchfield noted, no team has ever made it to the Super Bowl after a 1-4 start. Unfortunately, 2018 might well be over. The reason for the slip? There are many, but Steve in Brooklyn put it well on Twitter himself recently. Blame dirty, rotten luck. Injury City Go back to the second Keanu Neal went down, and then Deion Jones went down, and Devonta Freeman went down, and then Ricardo Allen went down, and then Takk McKinley missed a game, and then...

Atlanta Falcons Most Missed Player

The Falcons defense has lost multiple players to major injury. Keanu Neal is arguably the biggest loss of them all. When considering who is the Most Missed Player for the Atlanta Falcons, it is a toss-up between three of their best defenders. Deion Jones, Ricardo Allen, and Keanu Neal. Since there is a possibility for […] Atlanta Falcons Most Missed Player - Blogging Dirty - Blogging Dirty - An Atlanta Falcons Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Falcons S Keanu Neal looks ahead of schedule in ACL rehab

Some good news in what’s been a bad season. We all know by now how awful it’s been not to have Atlanta Falcons S Keanu Neal out on the field, but a little glimmer of Keke sunlight shines through. On Neal’s most recent Instagram story, he showed himself peddling on a stationary bike, extending his knee in rotation. Forgive the self plug. Falcons-Bengals post-game injury report: DT Grady Jarrett banged up in loss

Falcons-Bengals post-game injury report: DT Grady Jarrett banged up in loss

Fact: Grady Jarrett puts pineapple on his pizza The Atlanta Falcons lost another heartbreaker today, falling to the Cincinatti Bengals with only seconds to play ... literally. It’s hard to know where to go from here, but let’s be honest, the defense isn’t the same without Keanu Neal, Deion Jones, and Ricardo Allen. That unit isn’t likely to drastically improve in the immediate future. But alas, there were a couple of injuries in today’s game. Let’s talk about them. Grady Jarrett got banged up in the second half. He apparently injured his ankle and earned a “questionable”...

Falcons safety Keith Tandy blocks punt on Bengals’ first drive of the second half

Fact: Keith Tandy eats six bowls of Lucky Charms a day Recent addition Keith Tandy was brought aboard following Keanu Neal’s season-ending knee injury to provide depth at safety. But Tandy also brings a wealth of special teams experience, and that’s where his signing is paying dividends. Tandy blocked a punt during the second half of today’s game. It concluded the first Bengals offensive drive of the second half. There will be hell to pay in the NFC if the Atlanta Falcons make the playoffs

There will be hell to pay in the NFC if the Atlanta Falcons make the playoffs

Message to the rest of the NFC: bury the Falcons while you can. The Atlanta Falcons are on the mat at the moment — beaten and bruised, both literally and figuratively, three weeks into the season. The Falcons sit at 1-2, their worst record after three weeks since 2013. They’ve lost starters Keanu Neal, Andy Levitre and Ricardo Allen for the entire season and are without Pro Bowl linebacker Deion Jones for two months. Starting running back Devonta Freeman has been out for multiple weeks and starting DE Takk McKinley missed the Week 3 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Atlanta has...

Atlanta Falcons: Earl Thomas trade should be on radar after injuries

With the Atlanta Falcons losing Ricardo Allen for the year, joining Keanu Neal, the team needs help at safety and an Earl Thomas trade must be considered. The injury luck (or lack thereof) early in the 2018 season has been horrendous for the Atlanta Falcons. We’re only three weeks into the season and the Falcons […] Atlanta Falcons: Earl Thomas trade should be on radar after injuries - NFL Spin Zone - NFL Spin Zone - NFL news, rumors, analysis, opinions, stats, mock drafts, scores, and GIFs.

Dan Quinn: Damontae Kazee, Jordan Richards will start at safety for now

The Falcons have revealed their post-Allen plan at safety. The Atlanta Falcons have endured a nightmarish doomsday scenario at the safety spot in 2018, with FS Ricardo Allen and SS Keanu Neal both now on IR. The once-excellent depth will now be thrust into the starting spotlight, if Dan Quinn’s Monday presser holds true. Kazee will replace Ricardo as Dan Quinn said— vaughn mcclure (@vxmcclure23) September 24, 2018 Damontae Kazee will take over for Ricardo Allen at FS. Falcons' Ricardo Allen out for season with torn Achilles

ATLANTA — Falcons starting safety Ricardo Allen will miss the remainder of the season with a torn left Achilles tendon, dealing another blow to Atlantas already injury-ravaged defense. The team made the announcement a day after the Falcons 43-37 loss to the Saints in overtime. Allen was carted off the field in the middle of the fourth quarter. The fourth-year veteran from Purdue is the leader of the Falcons defense. Ricardo Allen injury: If the safety misses significant time, the Falcons are in big trouble

Ricardo Allen injury: If the safety misses significant time, the Falcons are in big trouble

You don’t know what you’ve got (with Ricardo Allen) until it’s gone. The Falcons have sort of weathered the storm with Keanu Neal out. Damontae Kazee and Jordan Richards haven’t been amazing, but they’re been at least solid (more Kazee than Richards, of course). The bigger troubles have been in the front seven, where a lack of a quality pass rush and some middling linebacker play have hurt. That said, the Falcons are far worse off than they would be with Neal in the lineup, But what happens if Ricardo Allen misses significant time, too? In this unbelievable nightmare hellscape of...
