Several Redskins Players Still in Ashburn Working Out

Hogs Haven — Several Redskins Players Still in Ashburn Working Out London Fletcher, Adam Carriker, Brian Orakpo, and Trent Williams to name a few. Good stuff seeing these guys so dedicated even with their last month off before training camp. Being a DC local, if I was a player in this frickin heat, I'd take the Portis route and work out in South Beach or Cali.

  • Santana Moss: 'You have to use those guys that can be game-changers' Redskins Insider | Washington Post There has been plenty of optimism surrounding the arrival of the new coaching regime in Washington and one person joining the chorus of praise around the new offense, directed by offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, is veteran wide receiver Santana Moss. After the team's walk-through on Saturday afternoon, Moss expressed his optimism regarding the new scheme and also in the way he will be used in the offense. Moss said he has been extremely impressed watching film of the Houston Texans, who have used the offense in recent seasons, and that he believes the Redskins have a chance to be very succ...
  • Shanahan stresses repetition in afternoon sessions Redskins Insider | Washington Post Day 3 of Redskins training camp is in the books, as the players just completed their afternoon "jog-through" practice session. As Coach Mike Shanahan said earlier in the day, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was on the field for the entirety of the session, but he did not participate. He stood among his teammates, though, often conferring with coaches or other linemen. Haynesworth remained after practice again, working on the far field with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and line coach Jacob Burney. These afternoon sessions, each of which has lasted about 60 minutes, are just as Shanahan...
  • After recovering from injury, bulked-up Jeremy Jarmon readjusts to football Redskins Insider | Washington Post There are plenty of things NFL players tire of during a seemingly endless offseason. But for Redskins defensive lineman Jeremy Jarmon, it wasn't the typical complaint of endless weightlifting or conditioning -- it was the food. "It got to the point where I didn't enjoy eating," Jarmon said. Jarmon was originally expected to play outside linebacker in the Redskins' new 3-4 defensive scheme. Later in the offseason, however, the team asked him to bulk up and play on the line. Jarmon was listed at 278 pounds when the Redskins selected him in the third round of the supplemental draft last July, but...
  • Fisher: Test Haynesworth failed twice with Redskins is the same one Titans use Redskins Insider | Washington Post The Redskins have come under scrutiny this week because of the conditioning test Pro Bowler Albert Haynesworth has been required to pass in order to participate in practice. Haynesworth has failed in two attempts to complete two timed 300-yard shuttle runs, and Coach Mike Shanahan has remained firm. Some in the media have suggested Shanahan simply is making an example of Haynesworth, who skipped all but one day of Shanahan's first offseason program. But the Tennessee Titans, Haynesworth's former employer, handle things similarly for players who fail to participate enough in their workouts. "Th...
  • Shanahan: 'There's competition' at quarterback behind McNabb Redskins Insider | Washington Post Jonathan Newton/The Washington Post The Redskins have four quarterbacks in camp, and Donovan McNabb might be the only one who feels any sense of safety. Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan was asked about the battle for the No. 3 quarterback position, but that could be a spot on the depth chart that's irrelevant in September. Shanahan noted that for most of his career, he's only carried two quarterbacks in the regular season, which surely isn't a good news for Colt Brennan. Or Richard Bartel. Or maybe even Rex Grossman. With his familiarity with Kyle Shanahan's offense, Grossman opens camp as the pro...
  • Malcolm Kelly anxious to get back in the mix for Redskins Redskins Insider | Washington Post Santana Moss is perhaps the only receiver on the roster with a comfortable spot on the depth chart. Each of the other 10 receivers is battling for a position, and it's a safe guess that third-year receiver Malcolm Kelly has not started camp the way he probably hoped. Nursing a sore hamstring, Kelly was relegated to sidework during Saturday morning's practice and might not be back at full speed for a couple of days, said Coach Mike Shanahan. "I think any time, especially getting a new coach, we got a lot of receivers in, you never want to be sitting down while everybody else is practicing," Kel...
