Falcons add quarterback, defensive lineman to practice squad

Falcons add quarterback, defensive lineman to practice squad

Adios, Mike Meyer. The Falcons can’t stop shuffling their practice squad. They will not stop. After we learned earlier this week that the Falcons were bringing back Brian Hill to the practice squad, they’ve made two moves today, adding a defensive lineman and quarterback to the mix. The team has signed DL Joey Ivie and QB Garrett Grayson to the Practice Squad.— Falcons Comm Dept. (@FalconsComm) October 17, 2017 To make way for these guys, the Falcons cut ties with kicker Mike Meyer, who was no longer needed with Matt Bryant clearly healthy enough to kick. They also placed Trevor...

The Falcons have now won or lost four of their five games by less than seven points

They’re simply finding themselves in too many close games. The Falcons could, with a small handful of plays going their way, be 5-0 right now. Their two losses have been by a combined nine points, and if... ...the Bills didn’t get credit for a fumble that probably wasn’t a fumble which turned into a touchdown, which gave them the winning margin and then some.... ...and the Falcons had gotten Matt Bryant a little closer for his 59 yard field goal, not committed a penalty on Deion Jones’ second interception, or not had Austin Hooper drop a pass that turned into an...

Vic Beasley, Julio Jones, Matt Bryant in, Mohamed Sanu out against Miami Dolphins

Vic. Beasley. Back. Vic Beasley has been dealing with a dreaded hamstring injury for weeks, and we expected him to be out until at least early November. The pass rush monster will return this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, per Dan Quinn. Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Vic Beasley Jr. will play and Mohamed Sanu won't play Sunday with hamstring... https://t.co/3GGdRwg1JT— vaughn mcclure (@vxmcclure23) October 13, 2017 The pass rush is back! Atlanta’s defensive line has been pretty impressive this year, but it’s tougher without the team’s top sack specialist. The report...

Falcons reportedly expect Matt Bryant to kick Sunday, but we won’t know for sure until Friday

It sounds good, but wait and see. We got a good old-fashioned scare earlier this week when we learned that Matt Bryant wasn’t practicing, but the good news is that it appears the veteran kicker will be set to go, assuming his back feels good tomorrow. Hopefully a little rest is all he needed. Falcons Matt Bryant will kick Friday to see how he feels coming off back injury, but early indications are he'll... https://t.co/hNLqADW75I— vaughn mcclure (@vxmcclure23) October 12, 2017 This is obviously excellent news, because Bryant remains one of the NFL’s most reliable kickers, and...

With Matt Bryant not practicing, Falcons sign kicker Mike Meyer to the practice squad

With Matt Bryant not practicing, Falcons sign kicker Mike Meyer to the practice squad

It’s not yet clear whether they’ll need him Sunday. We basically knew that Courtney Upshaw and Mohamed Sanu would not practice today. Sanu, after all, is out a couple of weeks, and the Falcons brought defensive lineman Taniela Tupou up from the practice squad, signaling Upshaw’s potential unavailability Sunday. We did see two new names on the injury report, however, and both are concerning. The first was Justin Hardy, who hopefully is just a little slowed and won’t be missing Sunday’s game, given that it would leave the team perilously thin at wide receiver for a tilt against the...

Breaking down the special teams pace for the Falcons after a quarter season

Breaking down the special teams pace for the Falcons after a quarter season

Matt Bryant, Matt Bosher, Andre Roberts, Keith Armstrong and his merry band of men. We reach the final, arguably least intriguing portion of our quarter season projections for the Atlanta Falcons. Only the true special teams enthusiasts will probably enjoy this one. The good news here, though, is that Atlanta’s special teams unit has looked much better than it did in preseason. Matt Bryant is still awesome, Matt Bosher looks about as good as last year, and Andre Roberts is already delivering better results on the kick return side of the ledger than Eric Weems. It’s worth noting that...
