Matt Moore - Dolphins suddenly top heavy

The Huddle — Miami Dolphins QB Matt Moore, WR Mike Wallace, WR Brian Hartline, DE Cameron Wake, LB Dannell Ellerbe and LB Philip Wheeler will count $50.07 million against the salary cap in 2014. Huddle Up: That will be something to deal with a year from now, but in the meantime, the Fins hopefully have enough cap space to bolster their offensive line, which has been overlooked during their recent FA spending spree.

Depth Chart: Where the Miami Dolphins stand after 1 week of free agency

The Daily Dolphin | Palm Beach Post — A week of free agency is in the books, and the Dolphins have made several moves — re-signing Brian Hartline, Matt Moore and Randy Starks, signing Mike Wallace, Dannell Ellerbe, Philip Wheeler, Dustin Keller and Brandon Gibson, and releasing Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett. The Dolphins aren’t quite done yet — there’s still the Jake Long matter to attend to, the Dolphins are always looking for pass rushers and more roster tweaks could be coming (potentially at receiver and right guard) — but let’s take a look at their current depth chart: OFFENSE (29 players) WR1: Mike Wallace, Davone Bess, Arm...

Contract Breakdown: Miami Dolphins go ‘all-in’ on WR Mike Wallace

The Daily Dolphin | Palm Beach Post — The Dolphins’ front-office has been careful about spending its cap dollars over the last two offseasons, spurning the big-money free agents and signing several players at reasonable rates, such as Brian Hartline, Cameron Wake, Matt Moore, Reggie Bush and Richard Marshall. But with receiver Mike Wallace, the Dolphins have pushed all of their poker chips into the middle of the table. A copy of the contract received by the Post reveals a monster deal for the speedy 26-year-old receiver: It’s a five-year, $60 million deal, as previously reported, but in practical terms it’s a two-year, $30 million...

Miami Dolphins use just $4.615 million in salary cap space on WR Brian Hartline and QB Matt Moore for 2013

The Daily Dolphin | Palm Beach Post — The deals signed late last week by WR Brian Hartline and QB Matt Moore seem to be the rare “win-win:” The players got paid well and don’t have to worry about their contract situations anymore, and the Dolphins got cap-friendly deals that still give them plenty of room to spend in free agency. The Post obtained a copy of both contracts, and while Hartline did get $30.775 million over five years, and Moore got $8 million over two years, the two deals will use just $4.615 million in salary cap space in 2013. Moore now has the 13th-highest cap number on the Dolphins, and Hartline is 14th. A quick ...

  • NFL Free Agency 2013: Matt Moore reportedly re-signs with Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have re-signed quarterback Matt Moore, according to NFL.com's Jeff Darlington. Moore, 28, was the backup to rookie Ryan Tannehill last season. Moore appeared in 10 games, but he didn't start any. He was 11-for-19 for 131 yards and a touchdown. He didn't throw an interception in his limited time on the field. Details of the contract are unknown. Before the Dolphins drafted Tannehill, Moore had a solid season for Miami in 2011. He started 12 games and led the team to a 6-6 record. He completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,497 yards and 16 touchdowns. He threw nine in...

  • NFL free agents 2013: Matt Moore re-signs with Dolphins
The free quarterback market is fairly barren this season, which is one reason the 49ers were able to get a reported king's ransom for Alex Smith. There is one less QB option on the table today as Jeff Darlington is reporting Dolphins backup Matt Moore has signed a deal to stick around as Ryan Tannehill's backup. I bring this up because the Alex Smith trade has left the 49ers potentially in need of a backup quarterback. Scott Tolzien could be the 49ers answer at backup QB, but we are in a position to not really know what the 49ers think of Tolzien. Accordingly, the team could very well ...
