Mel Kiper 2009 NFL Draft re-draft: Who would the 49ers take instead of Michael Crabtree

As Michael Crabtree tests free agency, Mel Kiper took a look at who the 49ers would have taken in 2009 knowing what we know now. In a fitting bit of timing, last week Mel Kiper put together a re-draft of the 2009 NFL Draft. I suggest it is fitting because the San Francisco 49ers pick that year was Michael Crabtree, and he currently finds himself as arguably the most high profile free agent still on the market. The 49ers had the tenth pick of that draft, and the highlight of the draft at the time had to come when the Oakland Raiders selected Darrius Heyward-Bey. The expectation was that the...

Michael Crabtree Waiting On The "Right Deal" In Free Agency

Michael Crabtree Waiting On The "Right Deal" In Free Agency Per Matt Maiocco of CSNBay Area former 49ers wide out Michael Crabtree is "Willing to wait however long it takes" to find the deal he wants this off season. Crabtree visited with the Miami Dolphins last week but left without signing a deal. It is unknown if the Dolphins offered him a deal at that time. Miami may be looking for a veteran presence in the in the wide reciever ranks after moving on from Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson. Wallace was traded to the Vikings while Hartline signed with his hometown Browns and...

Golden Nuggets: Still Unsigned

Wednesday, March 25th, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet After 2 weeks of free agency in the books, Michael Crabtree is still an unsigned free agent. Reports have been very quiet about what teams are interested in him. After the season he had, he probably lost himself quite a bit of money. The options available for him are not there since most teams are willing to wait to the draft to pick up a receiver. Teams can find quality wideouts that will not command the money Crabtree probably wants. I would not be against Crabtree...

Trent Baalke: 'Never say never' with regard to Michael Crabtree (or any other UFA)

Trent Baalke was asked about Michael Crabtree's free agent status. Baalke did not get into specifics, but did not entirely close the door on a return. San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke is down in Arizona for the annual March league meetings, and he had a chance to address Michael Crabtree's current free agent status. In a session with Bay Area media, he did not entirely close the door to Crabtree returning to the team. "As long as Michael's out there, he's just like any other UFA," Baalke said Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings. "You never say never. Michael did a heck of a...

San Francisco 49ers over/under: Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin receiving yards

What do you expect from the 49ers wide receiver duo in 2015? The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Torrey Smith to a lengthy deal, providing them another shot at a strong wide receiver duo. We were hoping it would happen with Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, but it never fully took form. Crabtree tore his Achilles and missed most of Boldin's first year. In 2014, Crabtree was back, but could not fully get on track. Of course, the 49ers passing offense as a whole was all over the place in 2014. More over/under: Carlos Hyde Aldon Smith/Ahmad Brooks/Aaron Lynch As we head into...

Dolphins to meet with Greg Jennings

The Miami Dolphins will meet with wide receiver Greg Jennings, according to a report. The Miami Dolphins met with free agent wide receiver Michael Crabtree last week, looking to add a veteran to a group of very young wide outs. No deal was struck between the club and Crabtree, however, and now it appears the Dolphins have another wide receiver target they will consider. Dolphins looking at adding WR depth...will talk with both Crabtree and @GregJennings — trey wingo (@wingoz) March 22, 2015 Greg Jennings spent the last two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings after seven seasons with...

Was Crabtree worth a first round pick?

Paul Gutierrez poses an interesting question. Let's try to answer it. Now that a market has started to develop for Michael Crabtree, it's looking more and more likely that the WR will move on and join another team. Recent reports indicate that Crabtree could be receiving about $3.5-4 million a year from the Miami Dolphins, and Crabtree recently visited Miami. It's never been much of a shocker that the 49ers would let Crabtree go. He absolutely slowed down after all of his leg injuries. I don't think it's fruitful to speculate about "attitudes" and "locker-room presence" myself, but it is...

NFL free agents 2015: Remaining 49ers options through two weeks

The free agent market still has some talent available. Would the 49ers invest in ILB, or maybe somewhere else? We are through the first two weeks of free agency, and most of the big names are locked up. NFL.com ranked out the top 101 free agents, and has updated their current status. The most notable is Michael Crabtree, but there are still some intriguing names on the market. Down below I have posted the top remaining free agents in order of NFL.com rankings. The San Francisco 49ers seem to have their roster mostly set heading into the 2015 NFL Draft. They did lose Chris Borland to...

Michael Crabtree rumors: Wide receiver could get $3.5-$4 million per year from Dolphins, according to John Clayton

The Miami Dolphins and Michael Crabtree might be close to a deal. ESPN's John Clayton apparently had a report on it. The Miami Dolphins brought in Michael Crabtree for a visit on Thursday, and it sounds like the two sides might be making some progress. I did not see this live, but apparently John Clayton was on NFL Live and said Miami is close to a deal with Crabtree that would pay him $3.5 million to $4 million a year. There is no word on potential length, and obviously nothing is complete yet. However, if the two sides agree to a deal for that kind of APY, the San Francisco 49ers would...

Dolphins hosting Tarvaris Jackson, J.D. Walton along with Crabtree

The Miami Dolphins have three free agent visits scheduled for today. The Miami Dolphins will be busy on Thursday, welcoming several free agents into their team facilities on visits. News yesterday indicated wide receiver Michael Crabtree would be in Davie today, with reports now adding quarterback Tarvaris Jackson and center J.D. Walton to the group. The Dolphins, who will not match the offer extended by the Buffalo Bills to tight end Charles Clay, have about $17 million in salary cap space. Adding Crabtree would give Miami a veteran wide receiver in a group of young wide outs, headlined by...

NFL Free Agency 2015: No Market for Michael Crabtree?

Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been a guy that a lot of Titans' fans have been clamoring for on Facebook and Twitter.  It makes sense given the Titans need at receiver, but we have seen nothing linking the two parties.  Other than a reported visit with the Miami Dolphins, we haven't really seen Crabtree linked anyone. Mike Florio wrote earlier this week that there is "little or no market" for Crabtree's services in the league.  That seems odd for a guy that is coming off a season where he had 68 catches, but it makes sense if you dig a little deeper....

NFL Free Agency Day 10: Dolphins signings, rumors, and Charles Clay decision live updates

Day 10 of the NFL free agency period. We continue to track developments around the Miami Dolphins. The clock continues to tick on the Miami Dolphins with the decision to either match the offer sheet from the Buffalo Bills to tight end Charles Clay, or to allow him to leave without any compensation in return. Miami has until Sunday to make their decision. The team is also visiting with wide receiver Michael Crabtree today, while rumors seem to support the team also bringing back quarterback Matt Moore. There are a lot of moves still to happen this offseason, and we continue to track all of...
