Apparently posting a quarterback rating equal to Blutarsky's GPA is a good way to lose your starting gig in the NFL. Well, at least for one week. Jets head coach Rex Ryan announced Monday that Michael Vick will start this Sunday's game in Kansas City, and Geno Smith will be his backup. However, Ryan said Smith could start again at some point this season. That, of course, will depend on how Vick performs. If Week 8's game was any sign, this won't be the last time Ryan will be asked whom his starting QB is. Vick fumbled the ball four times -- losing two -- threw an interception, completed only...

How is Rex Ryan trying to get Jets quarterback Michael Vick to cut down on his turnovers?

Vick averages over one turnover per game during his career. The Jets hope they can break the 34-year-old of that habit beginning this week.

Geno Smith (shoulder) resumes throwing

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Quarterback Geno Smith, who didn't throw in practice Wednesday because of an ailing right shoulder, resumed throwing Thursday during the 30-minute window open to the media. Smith, who lost his starting job to Michael Vick, was non-committal Wednesday on whether he'd be able to assume the No. 2 role when the New York Jets face the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. He said he was taking it day-by-day. That he was able to throw Thursday bodes well for his chances of suiting up.

Remembering the 2004 Atlanta Falcons

Remembering the 2004 Atlanta Falcons

It's been 10 years since Mike Vick led the Falcons to an NFC South title. Let's take a quick look back on the memorable season. The Atlanta Falcons have never been the best team in the NFL. They've been good, even great once or twice, but not No. 1. For a brief period, however, they were more exciting than anyone else. It was a decade ago now, though it may feel like much longer. Mike Vick was back from his broken leg. Jim Mora Jr. replaced Dan Reeves. Rich McKay built a talented roster, one that included five Pro Bowlers. We all know how this ended, and we certainly remember what happened...

Mehta: Jets need to move on from Geno Smith, eye new QB of the future

Geno Smith’s eight-minute session with reporters Wednesday was the final indignity of a lost quarterback creeping toward irrelevance. He was standing in front of his locker, but the line of questioning called for a couch. What was his state of mind and level of frustration in the wake of losing his starting job to Mike Vick?

Chiefs' Andy Reid still close with Michael Vick

Andy Reid understands that many people will criticize him when he says this about Michael Vick, and he's respectful of those who cannot forgive Vick for his longtime involvement in a dogfighting operation. But the Chiefs coach, who gave Vick his second chance when he was with the Eagles, stands by his opinion.
