Last season Taiwan Jones was a forgotten man at running back. Even with the injuries to both Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson, Taiwan Jones was left out in the depth chart in favor of UDFA rookie Jeremy Stewart. The coaching staff had no faith in Jones' ball security or his ability to play in the team's zone blocking scheme. So, he was relegated to special teams duties exclusively. Although, not as a return man because of that whole ball security concern. With his standout play as a gunner on special teams and his absence from the running game, something had to give. I remembered Jones...

Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke to the media today discussing the fact-gathering process the team is undergoing in the wake of Mike Goodson's arrest. "We're at a point of investigating the facts," Johnson said. "John Idzik met with him this morning, he'll meet with the coaches today. We'll try to get the story on what the facts are and go from there." This seems like the right way to go. There is no need for hasty action before we actually know what happened. This is a situation that calls for a calm researching of the facts. Woody also made this comment: "We're trying to win game...

In the wake of David Garrard's retirement due to injury issues and Mike Goodson's arrest, there have been a few peoplesuggesting doubt has been cast on John Idzik's judgment. To be sure it was less than a banner week for the two signings. To take too much away from this week, though, seems like a real stretch. In the big picture, it does not seem fair to draw conclusions about Idzik based on what has happened. Garrard and Goodson were both low risk signings. Idzik knew this at the time he inked them. They were both given small money for the reason they were both risky on some level. Th...

It does not seem like the Jets are in any hurry to make a move on Mike Goodson after his arrest. Goodson is the third Jet to be charged with marijuana possession in the last two weeks, joining defensive end Claude Davis and cornerback Cliff Harris, who were both released by the team. The Jets have a bigger investment in Goodson, whom they signed to a three-year, $6.9 million free-agent contract in March. Goodson and Chris Ivory were expected to be the Jets’ top two running backs. In a statement, the Jets said they would have no comment until “the legal process has run its course.” ...

Mike Goodson and another man were arrested after being found intoxicated in a parked car in New Jersey early this morning on Friday, May 17th. In the SUV the police found a .45 handgun loaded with hollow point bullets. Hollow point bullets are illegal in New Jersey unless they meet specific guidelines for possession and carrying laws. The bullets are designed to expand and cause more tissue damage with less penetration allowing the full impact of the bullet to hit the target. If your using these bullets for self defense you must mean business. Unfortunately for Goodson right now it ...

According to multiple reports, running back Mike Goodson did not have himself the best of nights. He was reportedly a passenger in a car that was idling in the left lane of New Jersey's Route 80; a car that also contained marijuana (less than 50 ounces), a loaded handgun, and hollow-point rounds. Before we rush to judgement and call for Goodson's head on John Idzik's platter, there may be more to the story: Goodson was the passenger in the car. The driver was charged with DUI and also possession of a handgun with a prior.— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) May 17, 2013 Regardless of who wa...

The sound of the finger drumming has gotten louder and louder as the off-season has progressed. The Raiders lost Mike Goodson as a free agent and have not even sniffed a replacement. Finally, there will be a candidate coming to town - Bernard Scott. First and foremost, Scott must prove he is fully recovered from a torn ACL he suffered early last season. It was supposed to be his big contract year push but it ended early and he limped into the free agency. When Scott is healthy, he has shown some good skills. He averages over four yard per carry over his four seasons in the NFL. He has ...
