NaVorro Bowman makes a surprise hostpital visit to fan

Bowman surprises a young girl who was injured on her way to Levi’s Stadium There really don’t need to be any more reasons to admire San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman but nevertheless, I’m going to give you one more. A young girl named Sienna was injured in an accident on the way to watch the 49ers in their season finale while wearing the jersey of her favorite player: NaVorro Bowman. Someone tipped off the organization which prompted the linebacker to pay his special fan a visit in the hospital where she is still recovering almost two weeks later. Bowman not only posed for...

One 49ers fan’s newborn’s middle name shares same name as Navorro Bowman, Patrick Willis

I don’t want to mess with this kid. In all of the emotion surrounding the National Championship and the drama of the San Francisco 49ers’ head coaching search, I wound up digging up this cool little tweet yesterday. Congrats to 49ers fan Jesse Fricker for his new baby boy, but his kid has more going out of the gates than cuteness. Check out the name: Today a new #49ers fan is born.. 1/7/17 @ 5:23 pm.. 2016 All Pro team features 17 first-time honorees

Nope, no 49ers. The Associated Press announced their 2016 all pro teams, and no surprise, the San Francisco 49ers were not represented. Long gone are the days when Justin Smith was earning All Pro honors at two positions, or Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman were racking up dual-All Pro honors at inside linebacker. You can’t really make an argument for anybody on the roster to even be a second teamer, or even really in the discussion. Carlos Hyde if he had been able to stay healthy all season might have been a discussion-piece. DeForest Buckner could deserve some rookie team...

NaVorro Bowman’s Achilles rehab is going well

NaVorro Bowman’s Achilles rehab is going well

Bowman has started running in the pool as part of his rehab The inside linebacker position for the San Francisco 49ers was devastated by injuries early in the season and it didn't get any better as the season progressed. NaVorro Bowman was the biggest loss for the entire defense let alone the linebacker position. After the final game of the season Bowman was in the locker room and took questions from the media and discussed the rehabilitation of his achilles. When Bowman was asked about the time table for him to be able to start football activities he had a positive response. Yeah, I’ve...

Bowman: 'It's been tough for me to watch'

SANTA CLARA -- Linebacker NaVorro Bowman has started running and appears to be on track to return for the 2017 regular season.Bowman sustained a season-ending torn left Achilles in the 49ers Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. With Bowman sidelined for much of the season, the 49ers defense was the worst in franchise history. The 49ers last-ranked defense surrendered more total yards (6,502), points (480) and rushing yards (2,654) than any team in franchise history. The 49ers' season concluded Sunday with a 25-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

NaVorro Bowman’s recovery, if not his team, is ‘looking good’

NaVorro Bowman spoke to reporters Sunday for the first time since he sustained a season-ending torn Achilles on Oct. 2 and what he said wasn’t surprising: The run defense fell apart without the All-Pro inside linebacker. The 49ers allowed 122.7 rushing yards a game in three full games with Bowman and 174.3 in 12 games without him. Phil Dawson, 41, has said he plans to remain in the NFL if he can continue to kick at a high level, which suggests he’ll be back in 2017. Dawson made 18 of 21 field goals, with his misses coming from 53, 48 and 44 yards. Tight end Je’Ron Hamm sustained a...

Players vote for Kaepernick to receive 49ers’ most prestigious award

Colin Kaepernick’s controversial decision to kneel during the national anthem this season didn’t create a fractured locker room. If there was any remaining doubt, it was erased when the 49ers announced Friday that Kaepernick received the Len Eshmont Award, their most prestigious honor which is given to their most courageous and inspirational player. The award is voted on by players and had been given to wide receiver Anquan Boldin, running back Frank Gore, inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman and defensive tackle Justin Smith the previous four seasons. Left guard Zane Beadles received Bobb...

DeForest Buckner met personal goal of six sacks, exceeded 70 tackles

The San Francisco 49ers 2016 1st round pick set some hefty goals for himself. Most notably six sacks and 70 tackles. He beat one, could shatter both. A few weeks back, San Francisco 49ers 2016 first round pick DeForest Buckner met with the Bay Area media and did his usual talk about the next game, the last game, and his play. One of the most notable nuggets to take out of the presser was his goals for the 2016 season. Specifically, his sack and tackle totals. Buckner said he wanted to finish his season at six sacks and 70 tackles. Here’s his numbers going into week 17: six sacks, 71...

Considering the 49ers inside linebacker depth chart following Ray-Ray Armstrong contract extension

Time to take a look at the 49ers ILB depth chart with Armstrong locked up for two more years. The San Francisco 49ers announced a two-year contract extension for Ray-Ray Armstrong Monday afternoon. The signing means the team’s two starting inside linebackers from Week 1, Armstrong and NaVorro Bowman, are under contract through at least 2018. Defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil offered a lot of praise for Armstrong on Tuesday during his weekly press conference. When asked if the coaches had envisioned Armstrong as an every-down linebacker, O’Neil said it seemed like that was how it was...

49ers sign Ray-Ray Armstrong to 2-year contract extension

The 49ers likely have their starting two ILBs for next year, but the team will need to add more talent. The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that they have signed Ray-Ray Armstrong to a two-year extension. Armstrong was a free agent after this season. The 49ers originally claimed Armstrong off waivers from the Oakland Raiders on November 25, 2015. He appeared in five games last season in a special teams role. He opened this season as the starting inside linebacker next to NaVorro Bowman. He injured his chest in Week 2 and was placed on injured reserve. Bowman followed him to IR after...

49ers place Nick Bellore on injured reserve, claim Carl Bradford

The roster moves start. The San Francisco 49ers made the first of what will be several roster moves. The team announced that inside linebacker Nick Bellore has been placed on injured reserve, and the team has claimed linebacker Carl Bradford from the Green Bay Packers. Bellore moved into the starting lineup after Ray-Ray Armstrong and NaVorro Bowman were both lost for the season. Bellore had previously spent all his time with the 49ers in a core special teams role. Since replacing Bowman in the lineup, he had emerged as a decent option considering the circumstances. Michael Wilhoite and...

Nick Bellore ruled out remainder of 49ers-Falcons with elbow injury

The San Francisco 49ers inside linebacker depth chart is really hurting in Week 15. The team deactivated Gerald Hodges for what was described as a team rule violation. Now, the team has lost Nick Bellore to an elbow injury. Bellore suffered the injury in the first quarter, and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. Bellore started the season as a strictly special teams player, but injuries to NaVorro Bowman and Ray-Ray Armstrong opened the door for defensive snaps. Bellore has emerged as the team’s best remaining ILB, and while that is a low bar right now, it is still something....
