NaVorro Bowman leads linebackers onto the field

The San Francisco 49ers are getting close to game time, and linebacker NaVorro Bowman led his unit onto the field. Here’s some video of Bowman heading onto the field. When the 49ers open on Monday Night Football in a few weeks, I’m hoping we see the defense get the introductions. That will likely get us Bowman as the last player on the field. NaVorro Bowman leads the #49ers linebackers out of the tunnel. A video posted by Matt Maiocco (@maioccocsn) on Aug 20, 2016 at 5:21pm PDT

Who to watch in Saturday night’s game in Denver

Who will start next to linebacker NaVorro Bowman? (Photo by Tom Pennington/)What to watch for today in Denver when the 49ers visit the Broncos. The 49ers scored the fewest points in the league last year (238) and Denver allowed the fewest points last year. So if the 49ers’ first team can move the offense at all, it would be a victory. Here are the players to watch in tonight’s game. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert: Gabbert threw 10 passes in last week’s preseason opener and five were either off-target or late. His aim needs to be right on at least 70 percent of his passes. Denver’s...

NaVorro Bowman sells jerseys as Maurice

Shortly before NaVorro Bowman signed his four-year contract extension, he decided to have a little fun with 49ers fans. The team has a merchandise store set up in downtown San Francisco 49ers (near the Powell St. cable car turnaround). They had him wear a nametag of some random person and had him working in the store. He chose Maurice (very quickly, too!), and then wandered the store offering to help people. People eventually recognized Bowman, but he said it took about 20 minutes. It reminds me of the time Jerry Rice drove a Lyft car around and gave people rides, only most of them didn’t...

NaVorro Bowman beats Chip Kelly at 49ers bowling event

Over the weekend, the San Francisco 49ers had a team bowling event at AMF Moonlite Lanes following practice. Most teams have some kind of team-building exercise or other fun night out, and the 49ers decided to go with bowling. I give that decision a thumbs-up! The most important news out of this is that NaVorro Bowman had the top score, finishing with a 171. Second place was Chip Kelly at 152. Cam Inman is reporting Quinton Patton actually finished with a 218. Here are some other notable scores from the evening: Carlos Hyde: 151 pointsJoe Staley: 147 pointsDeforest Buckner: 145 pointsColin...

NaVorro Bowman contract extension details slowly leaking out

We don’t know all the details, but Ian Rapoport offered a couple numbers about NaVorro Bowman’s extension. The San Francisco 49ers signed NaVorro Bowman to a four-year contract extension on Wednesday, and details are slowly coming out. Initial reports said it was a four-year $44 million extension. Added to the three years, the reports said the deal essentially turned the next seven years into a $77 million deal. We don’t know full details yet, and the NFLPA does not have new base salaries reported. Ian Rapoport had this to say about the deal: On NaVorro Bowman's extension with...

Golden Nuggets: NaVorro Bowman’s new deal good for both sides

Friday, August 5th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet. Good morning everyone. Training camp is well and truly here, which means ... a whole lot of hyperbole and a whole lot overreacting. Of course, that’s the first sign that football is just about here and that’s all that matters. We’ve got plenty of time for hyperbole and overreacting over the next few months, and training camp is something of a warmup. NaVorro Bowman got a new deal, and I’m fine with it. Bowman is an amazing player and it was the least the...

NaVorro Bowman explains some of the reasoning behind wanting a new contract

The San Francisco 49ers agreed on a contract extension with NaVorro Bowman, catching us by surprise. Bowman explained some of the reasoning for wanting a new deal. Interesting stuff. NaVorro Bowman and the San Francisco 49ers reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension this week, and we got to hear from Bowman Thursday afternoon following practice. Bowman had three years left on his contract, so the extension caught a lot of people off guard. It was the first time a Drew Rosenhaus client had signed an extension with that three years left on his previous deal. Bowman made an...

NaVorro Bowman looking to prove the doubters wrong

NaVorro Bowman met with the media last weekend upon arrival to 49ers training camp. His comments are especially interesting in light of his recent contract extension. You can watch video here. NaVorro Bowman signed a four-year contract extension on Wednesday, a sign the San Francisco 49ers think the All Pro linebacker will continue making progress in his comeback from a torn ACL and MCL. Bowman returned to the field last season, and while he did earn All Pro honors, he was rusty out of the gate, and there were some questions about his coverage skills. Bowman is going to meet with the media...

Why did the 49ers sign NaVorro Bowman to a contract extension?

The San Francisco 49ers surprised us when they signed NaVorro Bowman to a contract extension while he still had three years remaining on his deal. The San Francisco 49ers have signed linebacker NaVorro Bowman to a four-year contract extension that will lock him up through 2022. There is a lot to chew on with this extension. Bowman last signed a contract extension in 2012, which signed him through 2018. He restructured the deal in 2014, and still had three seasons left on his deal. Ed Werder had the most interesting fact about the extension: Niners LB @NBowman53 is first client...

Golden Nuggets: Niners had a day off, NaVorro Bowman signed contract extension

Your San Francisco 49ers links for Thursday, August 4th, 2016 So we had practice, practice, padded practice, and now I return to report on the going-ons of the San Francisco 49ers’ day off. Seems like things are moving right along. We’ve had a few players rise above the rest in the short time they’ve had with Chip Kelly watching, and some like Jerome Simpson have been mentioned by the 49ers head coach. It seems things are going a lot smoother than last year where the news was Tomsula’s cell phone breaks and ‘fix-it’ sessions were the good parts of the practice. It’d be nice...
