The Detroit Lions were well represented at Thursday night's Detroit Red Wings playoff game. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, fullback Shaun Chapas, wide receiver Kris Durham and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh attended the game, and Suh actually got to take a ride on the Zamboni during the second intermission. Here's the evidence in GIF form (via SB Nation): After his ride, Suh checked out an octopus and decided to test out a puck as well. It’s safe to say @ndamukongsuh has embraced Detroit. @detroitredwings twitter.com/DetroitLionsNF… — Detroit Lions (@DetroitLionsNFL) May 24, 2013 ...

It turns out that the Detroit Lions didn't just restructure the contract of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to create extra cap room last week. According to Yahoo! Sports' Brian McIntyre, the Lions also restructured wide receiver Calvin Johnson's contract by converting most of his base salary for 2013 into a signing bonus. Johnson was originally set to have a base salary of $5 million for 2013, but that number is now only $715,000. By converting $4.285 million into a signing bonus, the Lions freed up $3.428 million in cap space for this season. The money that was converted into a signi...

The Detroit Lions' signing spree on Wednesday was made possible by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh restructuring his contract. The Lions converted his base salary into a signing bonus, and Suh's cap hit dropped to $10.49 million for 2013 as a result. This gave the Lions an extra $7.68 million in cap space. Between that and the cap space they already had, the Lions were able to sign Chris Houston, Jason Jones, Reggie Bush and Glover Quin (for a combined cap hit of $8.18 million for 2013). The downside to restructuring Suh's contract is that he now has a cap hit of $21.41 million for 2014...

The Detroit Lions have had a busy Wednesday, and it might just be getting started. They have already agreed to deals with cornerback Chris Houston and defensive end Jason Jones, and deals with running back Reggie Bush and safety Glover Quin could be on the way as well. I'm sure you're wondering how the Lions can afford to add all of these players given that they came into Wednesday with nearly no cap space. The answer? Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has once again restructured his contract, according to Mike O'Hara. Unlike the restructures Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson and ce...
