Nick Mangold injures ankle in second quarter

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets center Nick Mangold, who has played in 141 of 143 games in his career, was carted off in the second quarter Sunday with an ankle injury. His return is questionable, according to the Jets. The Jets tied the game 7-7 midway through the second quarter against the New England Patriots. Mangold is one of the most durable players in the league, so it was surreal, watching him go off. As a sign of respect, the entire team came off the sideline to wish him well as he was placed on the cart.

Nick Mangold honors slain NYPD officers

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets center Nick Mangold wore an NYPD cap prior to Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, as a tribute to the police department and the two officers slain on the job Saturday. "Those two officers, it's a shame. That's tough," Mangold said. "Those guys, they do a great job. I've been here nine years. Every one of those guys that's out there, that risks their lives every day, to go out there and keep the community safe, protect the community -- for that to happen, for those two guys, for their families, that's a raw deal.

Nick Mangold wears cap to supporttwo slain NYPD officers

Jets center Nick Mangold was so upset about the killing of two New York City police officers Saturday that he wanted to show his support in a very public way at Sunday's game against the Patriots. He reached out to a friend and had an NYPD hat delivered to MetLife Stadium, and the veteran lineman wore the cap during pregame warm-ups. He also put the cap over his heart during the singing of the national anthem

Nick Mangold's X-Ray Is Negative

It sounds like Nick Mangold's ankle is not broken. Some relatively good news for the Jets: X-rays revealed no break for C Nick Mangold in his ankle. MRI tomorrow to determine full injury. — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) December 21, 2014 That certainly is good news. It might not be the worst idea in the world to shut Mangold down unless he is 100%. The finale obviously doesn't mean much to the Jets this year. It wouldn't be in anybody's interest to risk Mangold further injuring himself. Right now the goal should be to get Mangold as healthy as possible to prepare for training in the...

Mangold, Richardson, and Wilkerson Make PFF Pro Bowl Team

Pro Football Focus has named a Pro Bowl team, and three Jets made it. Nick Mangold and Sheldon Richardson are starters while Muhammad Wilkerson is a reserve. Center Starters: Nick Mangold (NYJ) and Corey Linsley (GB) Reserves: Travis Frederick (DAL) and Rodney Hudson (KC) Breakdown: Mangold is back to his best and Linsley stunned us with his consistency in his rookie year. Quite the impression for a guy who was only starting because of injury. Special nod to Max Unger who has playing lights out but had his playing time limited through injury. Defensive Tackle Starters: Aaron Donald...
