Seahawks vs Chargers game notebook, part I: The 1st Half

I'm going to try to start a new tradition where I just re-watch the game and post some notes on what I thought stood out during games. This will be pretty informal and just a way to fill the gaps on some of the more focused, longer tape study stuff we do here. So, the Seahawks game! That sucked! I forgot about that shitty stressful feeling you get when you're losing. Let's back up though, and take it quarter by quarter. To the first half... 1st Quarter: The game got off to an inauspicious start when Jeron Johnson got a block in the back and negated a decent Percy Harvin kickoff return. That...

What to watch Sunday!? Seattle Seahawks vs. San Diego Chargers Preview

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brian Scott weighs in with his 5 things to watch Sunday vs. the San Diego Chargers in Week 2 NFL action. He points out Percy Harvin can do it all. He lines up outside, in the slot, in the backfield, and returns kickoffs. Nothing is going to change this week from that same plan. The punt returner competition is on. Earl Thomas and Brian Walters. (B-Walt) The real question is, can anyone wearing a Chargers uniform Sunday contain Harvin?

The Revolution Will be Impossible to Defend

Seahawks wideout Percy Harvin will be one of the most valuable players in the NFL this season. The revolution we expected the ex-Viking to bring to Seattle is finally here. A key facet of offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s brilliant game plan against the Packers last Thursday was using Harvin on jet sweeps, which usually derived […]

Halftime: Seahawks lead Packers 17-10; as promised, Percy Harvin getting used plenty; defense dropping into coverage rather than pressure

The Seahawks lead the Packers at halftime 17-10 while using Percy Harvin as they promised they would — and so much more than they were able to last season when he played in just one regular-season game and two playoff ones. The renewed, supersonic wide receiver has five receptions for 48 yards — including three bubble screens and a 33-yard gain on a zooming crossing route — plus 2 carries for 22 yards on fly sweeps. That’s come in his first half since he had offseason hip surgery. I thought Seattle would use Marshawn Lynch with pounding, inside runs against … Read more »
