The cHawkboard: Oregon's 'read sweep' [video]

The Seahawks don't run a ton of 'college' style plays outside of a few basic read option plays and the Percy Harvin jet sweep, but with an upcoming season where Harvin will ostensibly be healthy, it might be worthwhile to learn about some of the wrinkles the college game is doing with the read-option. FishDuck.com is dedicated to Oregon football (sorry Husky fans) and they do some really excellent work on X's and O's breakdowns. Like Oregon, Seattle does a lot of their zone-read stuff out of a zone-blocked front, so there are parallels to Oregon's offense and that of Seattle. Here's Charles...

Tweet link: Seahawks interested in Jackson?

The Philadelphia Eagles released wide receiver DeSean Jackson today. A story out of New Jersey says the Eagles were worried about Jackson’s alleged gang ties, among other things. Jackson’s release has prompted speculation of his next landing spot, none greater than this from Jason La Canfora: The Seahawks, 49ers, Jets, Raiders among the trams that had prior interest in DeSean Jackson, FWIW. Have a gut Seattle is a major player— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 28, 2014 Considering the money the Seahawks have dedicated to Percy Harvin, the style … Read more »

Reviewing Seattle's 2014 draft slots

I figured it might be worth reviewing where Seattle will pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after the revealing this week of the compensatory picks, which changes things just a bit, moving the Seahawks down in a few rounds (the added third round picks means all of the fourth round picks slide down a few, etc.). Here's the order of all of the picks from NFL.com. Here is where Seattle will now pick in each round: First Round: No. 32 Second Round: No. 64 Third Round: Seattle has no pick, having traded it to Minnesota as part of the Percy Harvin deal. Fourth Round: No. 132 Fifth Round: No. 146 as part of...

“He is just like Percy Harvin, he’s just four inches shorter," said one of his former coaches. “He’s faster than Percy. He’s quicker than Percy. Percy is just 6-foot, 200 pounds."
