Jets likely to release WR Percy Harvin

After relocating from one side of the country to the other, the Jets WR Percy Harvin may be on the move once again. Acquired by NYJ after Week 7, Harvin is set to make a base salary of $10 million in 2015. According to various reports, the former Seahawk is not willing to take a pay cut. Given the Jets recent coaching changes in tandem with more pressing offensive needs, the franchise may be forced to let Harvin go. FANTASY ANALYSIS: When he's good, he's so good. And when he's bad, he's really bad. Between durability concerns and usage issues, the 26-year-old slot man has always been a risky...

A little more than a week before his Seahawks team plays in its second Super Bowl in as many seasons, general manager John Schneider met with reporters for the first time since last May’s draft, addressing many of the storylines surrounding the Seahawks throughout the 2014 season. On Friday, Schneider didn’t say whether or not […]

Percy Harvin getting paid for Seahawks in Super Bowl

Wide receiver Percy Harvin, whom the Seattle Seahawks traded in October to the New York Jets after he reportedly caused problems in the locker room, will be paid at least $58,500 thanks to the Hawks’ appearance in Super Bowl XLIX. Under the NFL’s salary rules, players on playoff teams are paid set amounts out of […]

2015 Super Bowl: Jets' Percy Harvin gets payday from Seattle Seahawks' win over Green Bay Packers

And he didn't even have to suit up. He will make more money if they win it all.

What to Watch in the NFC Championship game

Here are some thoughts on what to watch in the NFC Conference Championship game Sunday from beat writer Jayson Jenks and Bob Condotta. First, from Jenks: 1, Will the Seahawks be able to run the ball like they did the first time around? Marshawn Lynch ran for 110 yards on 20 carries, and the Seahawks averaged 5.6 yards per carry against the Packers in the season opener (Although, it’s worth pointing out that 41 of those yards came courtesy of since-traded Percy Harvin). Green Bay has since become much tougher against the run, a point Pete Carroll made multiple times during the week. Lynch...

Seahawks have come a long way since opener against Green Bay

The storyline in the season opener against Green Bay was how far Seattle could go with Percy Harvin. Now, with the two teams set to meet again in the NFC title game, it's about how far the Seahawks have come since getting rid of him.

Let's Talk About Greg Jennings

The Daily Norseman takes an in-depth look at Jennings statistical production over the past two years, and how his performance has been relative to his contract and salary cap number. Flashback to the 2012 offseason.  We had just barely made the playoffs on tiebreaker rules after Peterson's historic 2,000+ yard season by winning the last 4 games in a row to finish the year 10-6, and then had to suffer through the Joe Webb debacle in Green Bay.  We traded Percy Harvin to Seattle for some draft picks in the lead-up to free agency, and in March of that year our wide receivers were as...

Former Seahawks WR Percy Harvin sells Bellevue home, likely loses money on it

Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin celebrated last year’s Super Bowl victory by buying a four-bedroom Bellevue home in June for $1.38 million. At that point, it looked like he’d be living in the Pacific Northwest for a good while. Exactly four months after his closing date, the Hawks traded Harvin to the New […]

NFL Playoff Odds: Seahawks vs. Panthers spread analysis

Did we all get what we wanted? Nope, not on December 25th, but in the aftermath of Carolina tossing aside Arizona last Saturday night. Whichever big cat was headed to Seattle, I sure as hell wanted to see a Panther a-comin' round the mountain. For so long in Dallas last week it looked as though a Golden Lion would swagger back through the gates of the Emerald City this Saturday, warmly welcomed by his once adoring throng, safe in the knowledge that if it wasn't for one Percy Harvin... Russell Wilson would have embraced his once most trusted receiver and we in turn would have held our...

Wednesday Seahawks links and notes: Harvin due for a Super Bowl check, and more

I passed this along in this space the other day, but it's making the rounds again --- a story detailing how Percy Harvin will be eligible for a share of up to $70,500 if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl. As well explained in the story, it's simply part of the NFL contracts and standard fare in sports ---- every year there are stories of players who were with teams for part of the time getting playoff shares. Considering Harvin got $25 million for playing six regular season games and two playoff games for Seattle, this is a drop in the bucket. But it appears Harvin didn't take all the money and...
