NY Jets: The Harvin Effect

The curious case of Percy Harvin and how he affects an offense. GGN member chris.ruppel posted his first Fanpost on GGN today and it was a good one.  It explored whether Harvin was worth keeping for his $10.5 million salary in 2015 and concluded that due to Harvin's multiple uses, his explosive playmaking ability, and his ability to open up the offense for others, among other factors, the Jets should bring back Percy Harvin even if it means paying him $10.5 million.  While I disagreed with chris.ruppell's conclusion, it was a very nicely written and argued piece. The Fanpost got me...

Percy Harvin 'tough as boot leather'

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- As expected, wide receiver Percy Harvin (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Thursday. There was a slight limp, but barring a setback, he should be ready to play Sunday when the New York Jets meet the New England Patriots. Harvin has impressed with his toughness. Two weeks ago, he suffered a third-degree ankle sprain (the most severe), according to Rex Ryan. Harvin had to be carried up the stairs on the team plane for the return trip from Minneapolis, where he was injured.

Patriots preparing for Percy Harvin

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Despite the disparity in their records, the New York Jets are always a good bet to play the New England Patriots tough. The Jets' addition of dynamic wide receiver and kick returner Percy Harvin figures to make things even tougher Sunday for the Patriots. Two days after the Patriots narrowly defeated the Jets 27-25 in Week 7, the Jets landed Harvin via a trade with the Seattle Seahawks. Since, Harvin has served as the team's primary kickoff returner while also adding a versatile element to their offense.

Quick hits from Bill Belichick, coordinators

Leftovers from Tuesday’s conference calls with Patriots coach Bill Belichick, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia: On seeing Harvin for first time. In the first matchup between the Jets and Patriots, the Jets had yet to acquire wide receiver Percy Harvin. Harvin, one of the NFL’s more dynamic and explosive players presents problems for any defense he faces. “I think he’s definitely, he is a weapon and they’ve used him as a weapon,” Belichick said.
