Pierre Garcon - Garcon had shoulder surgery in January

The Huddle — Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (shoulder) underwent minor labrum surgery in January but has fully recovered. He was held out of team drills during organized team activities Thursday, May 23, as a precaution. Huddle Up: The shoulder surgery may be the hot news at moment, but the bigger concern with Garcon remains the possibility that the wideout's bothersome foot could flare up at any time after it hampered him all of this past season. Nonetheless, Mike Shanahan and the Skins are expecting a close-to-100 percent healthy Garcon by the start of training camp in 2 months.

Garcon to take the next step?

CBSSports.com Fantasy — CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora believes Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon will break out in his second season in D.C. "[H]e seems dedicated to building up his body this offseason," La Canfora writes. "He is explosive (Garcon has a touchdown catch of at least 57 yards in each of the past three seasons) and has the ability to average over 15 yards per catch, and catch upwards of 100 balls. The Redskins want to feature him, without a dou...

Thanks to Pierre Garcon's foot injury early in Week 1 against the Saints, he ended up getting extensive playing time and caught four catches for 52 yards and a TD. Redskins WR Pierre Garcon: 'I can't say I'll be 100 percent' this season

FFToolbox.com — A torn ligament in Pierre Garcon's right foot caused him trouble for most of the 2012 season, and he said Wednesday that it may keep him from entering the 2013 season fully healthy. "I'll be healthy enough to play," Garcon said in an NFL Network interview. "I can't say I'll be 100 percent, but I'll be back out there helping the team in any way possible." Garcon decided against undergoing surgery because he had been given no guarantees from doctors that surgery would fix the problem. He suffered the injury in the first quarter of last season's first game. He ended up missing six games and was c...

  • Garcon, Davis, Paulsen among NFL's best First-Down/Touchdown Converters
The guys at Pro Football Focus compiled a new signature statistic that shows a handful of Redskins near the top of the ranks for the 2012 season. It's called "First Downs and Touchdowns per Route Run," which means exactly what you think it means. It's a nice way to sift out how many "quality" catches are logged by a specific player by lumping catches for converted first downs and touchdowns over the number of routes he runs. It's not an all-encompassing stat by any means (what is?), but like all statistics, it gives us a piece of the puzzle. Among wide receivers, Pierre Garcon had the ...
  • Will the Redskins Continue to be a Run Heavy Offense?
Last year I think many Redskins fans were a bit surprised with how little the team threw the ball despite the additions of Robert Griffin III and receivers Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan. After the first two seasons of Mike Shanahan in Washington, where we saw quarterbacks Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman, and John Beck attempt 1,196 passes, Griffin and fellow rookie Kirk Cousins combined for just 442 attempts. Instead last season the Redskins were a run first team, that ran for over 50% of the time. Now many may point to the read-option as why this occurred, but the reality is Skins fans s...

  • Report: Pierre Garcon Won't Need Surgery, Should Be 100 Percent Next Season
A league source told John Keim of the Washington Examiner that Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon will not require surgery on his foot, and that Garcon should be "100 percent" by next season. Garcon, who was diagnosed with a plantar plate tear in his right foot, dealt with significant pain throughout the season, and did not have extended time to heal. Because Garcon now has that time and has not been running, it has gotten to a point where his foot is healing properly, and can do so without surgery. Though playing the 2012 season with the injury did not pose a threat for additional d...
