Randy Moss - Moss' future still undecided

The Huddle — Free-agent WR Randy Moss (49ers) is still undecided if he will play football this season. There was reportedly interest in Moss a few months ago, although nothing has transpired since. Moss had only 434 yards last season. Huddle Up: That's only 434 yards on 28 catches since 2010 for the 36-year-old Moss, who sat out 2011, and the odds are growing longer that he'll be signed to play a 17th NFL season.

New England Patriots Wide Receivers and Their Routes

Pats Pulpit — I want to start this off by saying this is a compilation of some ideas that have been brewing in the back of my mind for quite some time. I've made mention of some of the concepts in my comments for most of the off-season, so forgive me if I'm repeating something. When looking at our receiver needs, many people kept talking about the need for a deep threat. Their explanations quickly ran into that blazing fast, monstrous large freak of nature that brought back fond memories of Randy Moss of 2007. While that is great and all, those players don't grow on trees. Although, they might s...

Debate: Patriots Wide Receivers

Pats Pulpit — Outside receiver. That's what the need. A big outside receiver to spread the field. Elite speed would definitely be a plus, but they need an outside receiver. That's been the story of the Patriots offense every season since they lost Randy Moss to "Randy being Randy." In 2010, the Patriots decided to transition into a tight end focused offense, partially due to market inefficiencies and under-appreciation of the tight end role, but also because of need. Moss had declined and there was no one there to pick up where he had left off. The Patriots made the move to acquire Deion Branch, who...

Interview with HoF'er Cris Carter, Presented By Allstate And The Pro Football Hall Of Fame

Daily Norseman — Many of you know my story by now. I started my Vikings fandom/ love/ unhealthily all-consuming obsession in 1998 as a bandwagon jumper, after watching in amazement as Randy Moss from Marshall plunged through the draft to that team from Minnesota. Intrigued by what this exciting college receiver would do in the NFL, I watched and was naturally enraptured by how that whole season unfolded- right up until the NFCCG, which I would later learn to expect. Mind you, I have earned my purple-and-gold blood since, because as bandwagoner as my beginnings were, I'm still here. And if you've follo...

Aaron Dobson, TJ Moe working to shake comparisons, create their own names

The Point After | Boston Herald — As if the Patriots' rookie wide receivers didn't already have enough to worry about, they've got some challenging comparisons getting thrown their way.Second-round pick Aaron Dobson hails from Marshall. No big deal or anything, as two of the most productive receivers in Patriots history -- Troy Brown and Randy Moss -- also went to Marshall. Are they the same types of players? Nope. But the parallels are too hard to ignore.

Cordarrelle Patterson faces heady comparisons, crazy hype

Minneapolis Star-Tribune — Cordarrelle Patterson is even wearing Randy Moss’ old No. 84. Still, the Vikings must temper the expectations.

From Brown to Moss to Dobson

Pats Pulpit — It's not exactly fair to compare newly drafted wide receiver Aaron Dobson to Troy Brown -- one of the greatest receivers in Patriots history -- or Randy Moss -- one of the greatest receivers of all time, but there is something that relates them: All three are former Marshall Thundering Herd wide receivers. Now, Aaron Dobson will get the same opportunity that both Brown and Moss had, to play with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady. When asked about the chance to catch passes from Brady, the soft-spoken receiver got pretty giddy about the opportunity. "Oh, man, that ...

Herd includes Aaron Dobson

Boston Herald — The Patriots have been known to dip into the Marshall University pool on occasion. The school’s most heralded alum, Randy Moss, teamed up with Tom Brady in 2007 to form the NFL’s most prolific single-season wide receiver-quarterback tandem.Prior to Moss’ arrival, the Pats had employed another Marshall alum and one of the region’s most beloved players in Troy Brown. The receiver was merely one of Brady’s most treasured go-to-guys.

Grading Raiders 2013 off-season moves: Receivers

Silver And Black Pride — The Raiders receiving game has struggled for a while. Not since Randy Moss in 2005 have they fielded a 1000 yard receiver. Darrius Heyward-Bey came close in 2011 and that was the only season the past five years the Raiders' leading receiver wasn't a tight end. At wide receiver, the team has added a good looking rookie each season but has yet to find that sure thing. It was Rod Streater last season, Denarius Moore in 2011, and Jacoby Ford in 2010. The last time they went big in free agency for a receiver was 2008 when Javon Walker was paid big money and flopped. At tight end, it's going...

Heyward-Bey better Colts option than Moss?

Bounce it off Phil B. | Indianapolis Star — If wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey agrees to a deal with the Colts today, the last offseason mystery ends and fans can exhale. Because Randy Moss wouldn’t have made any sense. That’s who some of us in the media were thinking Colts owner Jim Irsay has been tweeting about. And it would have been difficult to... Read More

Bengals’ Lewis: ‘What did Randy Moss do for those guys last year? He did nothing’

49ers Hot Read | San Jose Mercury News — In explaining the Cincinnati Bengals’ free agency strategy, coach Marvin Lewis used Randy Moss’ 2012 comeback with the 49ers as Exhibit A why veterans aren’t necessarily better targets.
