Detroit News Some may have snickered when Reggie Bush said there was no reason for the Lions not to have the most productive offense in the league, but he was dead-on. The weaponry is there and, just as importantly, so is the diversity of attack.

Field Gulls Former USC, Saints, Dolphins, and now-Lions running back Reggie Bush disclosed in a recent interview that the Seahawks showed interest in him early on in the free agency period, noting: "I could've signed back with Miami, Arizona. Seattle was kind of after me early on and Atlanta was a possibility, too." (Hat tip to Nate Tepp for that nugget). The only reason I find this tidbit interesting (the Seahawks seem to be 'after' pretty much every free agent on the market as part of their 'no stone unturned' policy) is that considering Seattle went out and traded for, then signed, Percy Harvin...

Pride Of Detroit Below is a look at what offensive coordinator Scott Linehan had to say following Wednesday's Detroit Lions practice. (Quotes provided by the Lions.) On the addition of RB Reggie Bush opening up the playbook: "Well I think we have to use the strengths of the players that are out there. Reggie's certainly got some versatility. I think if anything it gives us more versatility we can use when it relates to our backfield. Whether we're doing what we do as a base or we can do some things creative-wise to break the traditional looks we have and you utilize our running back both as a run...

June 12, 2013Detroit News Bush, 28, was the No. 1 target for the Lions, and it's important to recognize why. It's not that Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford required more help than the defense. It's that in Motown, if you spend big money on a fast car, you don't run it with a clogged fuel pump.

Pride Of Detroit The Detroit Lions got their first scare of this week's minicamp on Wednesday when running back Reggie Bush went down with what appeared to be an ankle injury. According to the Detroit News' Josh Katzenstein, Bush planted awkwardly on his left foot and had a "slight limp" after staying down for a few seconds. The good news is this was merely a scare. Bush apparently didn't do any real damage, because he returned after taking a play off, according to Mike O'Hara. Later, after practice was over, Bush said he simply tweaked his ankle "a little bit." He also said that his ankle is "fine" an...

Pride Of Detroit In the past, Reggie Bush has compared the Detroit Lions' offensive style to the type of offense he played in with the New Orleans Saints. This week, he made another comparison between the Lions and Saints, this time at the quarterback position. Specifically, Bush said that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford reminds him of Saints quarterback Drew Brees, at least when Brees first arrived in New Orleans. Bush sees a lot of similarities between Stafford right now and Brees at an earlier point in his career. From the Lions' official site: "Stafford is a really good quarterback and he remin...

Pride Of Detroit It's no secret that running back Reggie Bush is quite confident in the Detroit Lions' ability to perform at a high level. He recently said that there's no excuse for the Lions to not have the NFL's No. 1 offense, and he took things a step further on Tuesday by bringing the Super Bowl into the mix. Specifically, he declared that the Lions have the talent in place "to be able to win a Super Bowl." From the Free Press: "Honestly, I don’t think we’re far at all," Bush said today, after the Lions’ OTA practice. "We have the guys here to be able to win a Super Bowl. Now obviously, with th...

Pride Of Detroit On paper, the Detroit Lions entered the 2012 season with one of the most talented offenses in the NFL. They weren't able to live up to that billing, though. Injuries and general inconsistency were huge problems for the Lions, and although Calvin Johnson had a record-breaking season in yardage, he wasn't able to get into the end zone quite like he did in 2011. This year, the Lions once again have a lot of talent on paper, especially after adding Reggie Bush into the mix. Bush decided to join the Lions in part because there is so much talent on the offensive side of the ball, and he does...
