Behind Enemy Lines: Bengals vs Colts

Behind Enemy Lines: Bengals vs Colts

In the NFL, the fourth preseason game may have little significance for anything other than the bottom of the roster. But the Colts and Bengals should play significant roles in the AFC in 2014. To talk Colts, we sat down with Josh Wilson, Editor of Stamped Blue. Q: Reggie Wayne played for the first time since his knee injury. How has he looked in camp? A: Like Reggie Wayne.  And that's not an easy way out, that's truly the most encouraging thing I can say about him.  His knee looks great and he has been running and cutting with no problems. You wouldn't even be able to tell he tore his...

Welcome Back Reggie Wayne!

Reggie Wayne returned to the field Saturday night versus the Saints, the first time in 307 days that he played in a game for the Colts. His teammates and Colts fans were obviously glad to have him back. For the first time in 307 days, Reggie Wayne took the field at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night, greeted by a roar of cheers from the home crowd. The Colts announced their offensive starters, and number 87 went last.  As they were getting ready to announce Reggie Wayne, radio announcer Bob Lamey said, "stand by, the roof is about to be blown off."  And surely enough, as the longtime...

Reggie Wayne's Status Remains Undecided for Saturday; Robert Mathis's Status Decided

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said that they still haven't decided whether Reggie Wayne will play on Saturday or not, but that they've decided that outside linebacker Robert Mathis will not play. It's become a daily routine for Chuck Pagano to be asked about wide receiver Reggie Wayne's status, and it's also become a part of that routine for the Colts coach to say that Wayne's status is still undecided. "No, not really," Pagano answered when asked whether he'd made a decision about Reggie's status.  "He had a good week of practice. He's been obviously doing better each and every day, and...

Will Reggie Wayne, Ahmad Bradshaw Play Saturday?

Will Reggie Wayne, Ahmad Bradshaw Play Saturday?

Will Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne and running back Ahmad Bradshaw play on Saturday? Chuck Pagano keeps getting asked whether wide receiver Reggie Wayne or running back Ahmad Bradshaw will play on Saturday.  And like a football coach, he really didn't say either way. On Tuesday, Pagano was again asked whether Reggie will play this Saturday, making his preseason debut, and Pagano replied: "He might. We'll see how he does this week. We talked about him wanting to get in there, but we're going to be smart, see how the week goes. He'll be a game-time decision." General manager Ryan...

Chuck Pagano Turns into Reporter at Tuesday's Press Conference

Chuck Pagano Turns into Reporter at Tuesday's Press Conference

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano turned into a reporter on Tuesday and began asking Reggie Wayne questions. A few days ago, Jets head coach Rex Ryan joined the media and sent a reporter to the podium to field questions.  With all due respect to Ryan, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano one-upped him on Tuesday.  Instead of sending a reporter to the podium, Pagano joined the media and began asking questions of one of his star players, wide receiver Reggie Wayne. "Have you forgotten how to play the game, Reggie?" Pagano asked while standing in the midst of the media.  Reggie looked at his coach...

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is 'clearly' team's top receiver

Colts beat writer Josh Wilson says that Hilton is 'clearly the one receiver, [Colts WR Reggie Wayne] is the two.' Wilson relegates newly-acquired Colts WR Hakeem Nicks to the WR3 role, and expects that when Nicks comes on to the field, Wayne will play the slot position - not Hilton. With Wayne on the sidelines with a knee injury in 2013, Hilton posted the highest stats of his career, catching 82 balls for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This is good news for Hilton's usage in the Colts offense. While there was never a serious threat that he would be unseated by Nicks or...
