Chiefs’ Steven Nelson’s impact has been underrated but important

Chiefs’ Steven Nelson’s impact has been underrated but important

The Kansas City Chiefs saw the return of CB Steven Nelson a few weeks ago and I thought it would take the Chiefs a while to get him acclimated again. The Chiefs threw him right out there. Nelson played 73 percent of the snaps (53/73) in Week 8 against the Broncos. The #Broncos threw at Steven Nelson (53 snaps) six times and completed one for 29 yards (one pass breakup). Big addition for #Chiefs— Eric Eager (@PFF_EricEager) October 31, 2017 The next week against the Cowboys he played in 96 percent of the snaps (64/67). CB Steven Nelson allowed 5 receptions, 34 yards & 2 TDs on 8...

Chiefs new look secondary passes the first test

A surprise before the Chiefs Monday Night Football game against the Broncos when cornerback Kenneth Acker was spotted running with the first team in warmups. He did end up starting the game over Terrance Mitchell and the Chiefs also saw the return of Steven Nelson who played the slot. The result? Pretty good. Marcus Peters had a pick, a fumble and a touchdown. The interception, that was an awful play by Trevor Siemian and looked like the easiest pick of Peters’ career. The fumble was pure Peters. I get on him about not tackling and trying to go for the fumble ... until it works! The...

Good news for Chiefs: CB Steven Nelson is practicing

Good news for Chiefs: CB Steven Nelson is practicing

The cavalry (if you so choose to call it that) is coming. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that cornerback Steve Nelson will practice Wednesday afternoon. “He’s in that window of time where he can [practice],” Reid told the KC media. “He’s got to go through practice and see the breaks and endurance, all those things that it would take to get through a practice. I think he’s in pretty good shape. He went through our 10-10-10 (quicker practice) the other day and handled that OK, and that was fairly high-speed.” Nelson hadn’t practiced all year before Monday,...
