I'm getting out of the Stevie Johnson Instagram interpretation business

Saturday afternoon, an Instagram account purporting to belong to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Stevie Johnson gave off an impression that his time with the team might be coming to an end. I say purporting because it is not verified. I have heard from some folks that indicate there is a good chance the account belongs to Johnson, but Johnson has not said anything directly on his verified Twitter account. I say "gave off an impression" because he does not in fact come right out and say he has been released, and now the account has a new post that would indicate maybe he is not gone yet. ...

What does potential Stevie Johnson departure mean for Michael Crabtree, free agency, NFL Draft?

NFL mock drafts have connected the San Francisco 49ers with wide receivers fairly frequently over the last month and a half. This is not surprising given the fact that Michael Crabtree is headed to free agency, and the team lacked a true game-breaking receiver in 2014. However, that may have become even more pertinent with the reported plans to release wide receiver Stevie Johnson. We still don't know for certain if he is gone, but signs are pointing to that being the case. Although he was not an every down receiver for the team in 2014, his departure does take away a very productive...

Golden Nuggets: 49ers could be parting ways with Stevie Johnson

Sunday, March 1, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet. It's not exactly surprising that it's looking like wide receiver Stevie Johnson won't be with the San Francisco 49ers next season. That said, it is a little disappointing given how Johnson looked on the field last season. I thought that, when given opportunities, he looked a lot better than Michael Crabtree and given an opportunity, could be a solid contributor next season. But if Johnson won't take a pay cut or the 49ers are being unreasonable, then I have to...

Potential Jets: Stevie Johnson

There's news out from the San Francisco 49ers today that they have released WR Stevie Johnson. Johnson, you may recall, used to play on the Buffalo Bills. In fact, Johnson had three straight 1,000-yard seasons with the Bills, and specifically when Chan Gailey was their head coach. With the seemingly likely release of Percy Harvin, Johnson may make sense as a New York Jet. If I'm the #Jets you're damn right I add Stevie Johnson to pair with Decker and reunite him with Gailey. — Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) February 28, 2015 Obviously, Johnson has played his best when he was...
